  1. Thanks for the report Jake. Catching that fish right away was an exciting start to what will be a great fishing season.
  2. Thanks for your report Jimmy. The catching will improve soon.
  3. Great job! We only caught 9 in 2 1/2 days fishing from Ecourse up to the warm water discharge. Mud island held fish in the mornings.
  4. DNR, like all officers, have discretion. They can listen to the individual and decide what, if anything, to charge. Making the decisions in Lansing to ticket Indiana charter captains takes out discretion from the process. Sorry to hear you got slammed. Hopefully a DNR officer/employee reads these posts and communicates it to superiors. Tight Lines
  5. Thank you for the report Wheels! We found that adding stinger hooks to our baits decreased our losses from hookset to the boat. I am headed to the Detroit River tomorrow. Hopefully the fish will cooperate.
  6. if it works, or could work with some repair, I would be interested. Please pm me - Thanks so much - oh, and I love coffee, but I also prefer steelhead.
  7. WTG! and Thanks for the report. I won't be able to get to the Detroit River until April 26, so leave a couple fish for me...
  8. My 2 cents: I have the prescription Maui Jims in a progressive lens. I cannot tell you how much I LOVE these sunglasses! They were my first pair of truly good sunglasses, and I will never go back the cheap ones, even if I have to sell a guitar to afford new ones.
  9. I had a fish examined last year and also received a nice Stinger spoon. I encourage everyone to contribute to the project when the biologists are in your port.
  10. I also use the Stinger Dive bombs, but the torpedos look like they would work just as well. The dive bombs produce a little water disturbance which may be an attractant whereas the torpedos slip through the water.
  11. I haven't used it yet, but am prepared to see how it works this season.
  12. Thanks for the report! I get my boat out of the pen tomorrow.
  13. Welcome aboard Herb. You have already discovered how much information there is on this site. Now you will see how helpful all the contributors can be to you. Soon you will be asking about recommendations for new cleaning knives!
  14. Thanks for the challenge! Steelhead: Here I come. Well as soon as Spring gets here in earnest.
  15. It won't be long now. We got fish in early April last year!
  16. Congrats Matt!!! It is also a dream of mine, so I may give drop you a line to pick your brain.
  17. Welcome aboard Michael. Lets us hear about the first time you get some salmon slime on that new to you boat!
  18. Well you can't catch fish in front of the fireplace in the living room. I have fished the Pere Marquette a couple of times with snow on the ground, but never with 4 inches in the boat. Sorry to hear about the skunk. Bummer way to start the fishing year.
  19. Lead -3, 5 and 8 colors for 15, 25 and 40 feet I always have 5 colors out. Copper - 150, 225 and 300 for 30, 45 and 60 feet I agree with the referral to Outdoorsmen - They are great. Reel Therapy
  20. I have the Lowrance LMS 525 Dual and I love it. A friend just got the Gen 2 and I would definitely go with that one if mine suddenly say, fell in the lake.
  21. I have also had the green on my rigger rods and backed my lead core with it. Since the riggers have the clear fluoro leaders, I can't see that it could make any difference. I would actually prefer the green, but only because I like the color, not because it catches more fish.
  22. Nice! I know you can't wait to get back on the lake and break those babies in with some screaming reels.
  23. I got one for retail a few years ago. Priceless. It buffs the wax off the truck as well as the boat. Sounds like you got a great deal Capt Josh.
