  1. Herring oil is available at tackle shops. I know Frank's Great Outdoors has some. If you happen to running hearing strips just keep the cotton balls in with the meat. Man does that stuff stink. LMAO
  2. Thanks Deuce for the quick offer to help. One thing should be noted about trailers in general. Trailers are designed to haul a certain load. If they are overloaded they may wear tires on the inside. If they are empty or way under loaded they may tend to wear tires on the outside. I have heard of some boat manufacturers using lighter trailers to keep costs down. There is the flex factor when any trailer is loaded. I'm definitely NOT an expert on this subject, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. Mike, Thanks again for the continuing improvements being made to this site. GLF is friendly place to hang. Like the old Cheers TV Show, "ya wana go where everyone knows your name".
  4. Unfortunately there will always be someone that lacks integrity. The bigger the purse the bigger the temptation. I have seen some cheating in some tournaments and derbies. When it becomes, "the best cheater wins" why participate?
  5. I'm paranoid about that subject. I'd almost bet you could find 4 of them on my boat. I was with someone that forgot to put his in. We made it out past the pier heads @ Oscoda. we were able to get back to the docks and pull out the boat. If you have an extra one onboard, there is a possibility that you could plug the hole from the inside. They don't take up much room.
  6. Ed, GJ on your spawn soaking expedition.
  7. Jeff, Good job on the shakedown cruise.
  8. Mike and Crew, Fantastic. Give the Cam Man a ^5 from me.
  9. The Dog is Lookin Good. She's a good lookin dog, and I know you can train her to hunt. Gotta Luv dem SC islanders. I never was aboard the old dog, but gracious Terry has already invited me to step onto the new dog. Watch out Manistee.
  10. Tyler, GJ and TY for the report. Good Ole Monkey Puke.
  11. It was a great seminar. Just put out some feelers and carpool next time. I live in Tawas. If I hadn't hooked a ride part way from Durand, I would have probably rolled through Evart on the way especially if I had someone to share the ride with. All the Captains gave good information, and answered all the questions we could think of. The best part of these meetings is putting names with faces. GLF did his homework, when he lined these speakers up. Thanks to Wolfsden for the ride.
  12. I have a 22 SC Islander HT with the 140. It will get down to about 2 MPH. I get slower for walleye using trolling bags. Mine is an 86, and should be close in weight to yours. The prop will also determine speed both high and low. I hope this helps you. If the boat is in good shape it is probably priced right. It is a buyers market so don't be too anxious and offer him less. Make sure you have a trusted mechanic look it over or maybe even a survey done.
  13. Herring.
  14. Jay, GL on the gills.
  15. So you think you're ready to go fishing. Don't put fishing first and safety last. Here are a few safety things you may have forgotten to do. 1. Check expiration dates on flares.(Mine have one more year, and I have tons of expired ones.) 2. Adjust trailer brakes. (Most are NOT self adjusting) Check and grease bearings. 3. Check Bilge Pump. 4. Check Trailer and Boat Lighting. 5. Check VHF Radio and Antenna. 6. Check hitch. 7. Check Fire Extinguishers. (Shake them or even bang them on a tree, it loosens up the stuff inside.) 8. Check PFDs 9. Put the transom plug in. 10. Check fuel system for leaks. 11. Check electrical system. Feel free to add to this. Better safe than sorry.
  16. One of the main reasons to run this set up. Cotton Balls work well also. A scent trail never hurts. Ya need something inside the head to keep it expanded anyways.
  17. Andrew, Thanks for the report. You will get them next time.
  18. Terry, Very nice pics. What great memories. I'll bet at least once you wanted to shove them out of the way and set things up.
