  1. We saw u leaving the piers, Went out to 100' and the set up was 2- 5colors with 1 with a Fishlander Green ultra glow tail and one with Fishlander Blueberry Muffin, 2 full cores with Fishlander Watermelon and Kevorkian blue glow. The rest of the spread was all spoons Fishlander and Stingers in some blue or green pattern. First fish was on the deep rigger 91 dn with the Fishlander Green ultra glow on and SWR rig, Nice 13# King, the next two were on 5 colors but both were farmered at the back of the boat. Bass fishermen tend to pull too hard on them. 2 more hits on the SWR at 91 ft dn and both were nice kings. Nice lake trout on a 5 color with the Blueberry muffin . Final fish was a 4 # king on a full color Green Dolphin Stinger. All fish came between 105 and 125 fow. Speed 2.9 and a west troll. Only 1 fish on the east troll and it was the last one of the day another small King on the full core Green Dolphing Stinger. Final tally was 6 for 11 but a lot of fun on a flat calm day ( after the wind died) Sea fleas are starting to be a problem on riggers if u r not using Flea Flicker line, ( I have 4 set up ready to go with Flea Flicker) Lots of bait but the fish are scattered.
  2. Really good point Ken The Fluorocarbon leader material is different than the fishing line. But how expensive is the Bloodrun 30# leader in 300 ft spools?
  3. Combination of the Mayfly hatch and migration patterns. The fishing will pick up shortly. I only hope that the water temps stay in the range they are now on the east side of the pond.
  4. Wtg Andy. Gonna be out This coming weekend and hope we can find em in the St Joe.
  5. If u want to keep the fleas off your riggers cortland makes a line called Flea flicker, I keep 5 reels spooled with it just for this time of year. Never a flea. The only caveat is to start using a leader to your lure even on the riggers because the flea flicker is pretty visible to the fish and another issue is it will twist up if u dont use really good ball bearing swivels.
  6. I know Russ has been running cores for a while and has been successful, I would really like to figure out who started this thread.
  7. 30 ft of 25# berkley big game. Tried fluoro carbon and it was too brittle and lacked stretch. Tore off fish when newbies cranked the drag down. Everybody thinks they are bass fishing the first time u take them out on the pond.
  8. SILVER HORDE Pearl Glow Black ladder back, Ace Hi Green Splatter Back, J plugs Wonderbread glow and Chrome red head Chrome With Kelly Green Glow back work well I always have at least one plug on a rigger this time of year usually 75 to 90 down depending on water temp.
  9. Thats a fact and they fish everyday most likely. I live an hours drive fm the lake and I will not take my boat out solo. But we generally fish mornings and usually find fish quickly because we are slipped at the lake and have some local knowledge. But a solo 2 to 3 avg is great. 1 think u might try is just ask around where u r going to fish. Pyles in S.Haven always has good fishing reports. Too remember when the "cottonwood is flyin the fishin is dyin". This is a tough time of year. Give it 2 weeks and watch it pick up.
  10. Thanks for the report Chris nice to get a fish condition report especially that they are feeding.
  11. Well done Frank the Kids are the most important part of the deal. Good luck on the surgery.
  12. Really fine job Ryan. Thats puttin the smack down on the silver fish.
  13. Well done Richard saw u on the Great Lakes Angling show last week end. I know u were in the hunt on the first day but that Sunday fishing gets us all. An info overload got me last week ended my day with only 4 small kings and an under sized laker. Glad it was a funday not a tournament day. Keep up the good reports and I hope to come to NY and fish Lake O with you some day in the future.
  14. Well done Terry some day I will get back out there been stuck on the beach for 2 weeks and doesnt look any better for the rest of this week. May get a chance to put together a trip Thursday. I love your posts with pics keep gettn after em.
  15. Nice job Ken, Terry must have brought the Dog Karma with him.
  16. Well done on both sides, some nice fish and a good samaritan job well done. As to the jokes about Saugy_____ Marty and crew need to toughen up and get over it. (LOL) The fine gentlemen in Saugatuck were glad to help them out, I am sure.
  17. Thanks for the tip Heidi been fishing Lake Michigan since the early 70's and never found a way to stop those little biting flies gonna give tha bleach and water a try.
  18. My Graph is more for depth of water than fish I mark U gotta remember you are only marking directly under your boat. There may be fish 50 to 100 ' out fm your boat u never see. In the days of paper graphs I have see fish come up to hit a bait but the water was not as clear as it is today and we used short leads 20' or less on the riggers and never thought of using long lines like lead and copper. Fishing was a lot more fun when u didnt have to reel in 300' of heavy line that wore out the fisherman befor the fish. I have guys that hand off fish on copper and leadcore because they dont want to work that hard for no fight fish. In the spring and fall u can fish riggers and dipseys and not have to work so hard. But I usually know where I am going to start and I like to start my day in the river plume and work out fm there we usually get a king or 2 even in the summer in there feeding. Usually off the riggers or short dipsey.
  19. Jim said it all it really doesnt matter how accurate if it is within a few ft of where u want to be just repeat the successful length. I have Okuma, Diawa and Shimano reels, the Tecotas are a little better than the others but for the money they should be. I cant afford 15 Tecotas so I use the less expensive Okuma and Diawa LC reels. U guys that can pay the 100 bucks plus for Tecotas more power to ya but my reels are doin fine. And I just repeat the successful lengths. U gotta remember if u lose line the spool diameter will change and the line length will change. PS. I tried the clip on line counters that measure by line passing thru, the principal is great but they dont work on wire or power pro.
  20. And then pay for the fuel for that monster. I rode something similar in Vietnam and they suck down the Diesel.
  21. Nice story Dan and really why not let him grow up into a really big meany. At least u had a good laugh and brought home the bacon er fish. Due to work and weather I wont get out until the end of next week. Hope to do some trollin and some perchin then.
  22. When the cottonwood is flyin the fishin is dyin! I was 2 for 3 saturday.
