  1. Well done Bill. Welcome to GLF, hope to see more of your reports. Good luck to your Son we all wish him the best of times and hope he has a safe deployment.
  2. Nice Job James. Sometimes the idiots out there will just ignore the fact that there are other people on the lake.
  3. Well done Ben thats a nice King and they can really get tough at the back of the boat. Great job of netting the fish.
  4. Nicely done Jim. Lets hope that the fish stay active for a couple more weeks befor the June doldrums hit.
  5. Good job Phil, someday I will get to go fishing again, the golf course is running me ragged rite now. Storms have played H e double hockey sticks with it.
  6. Nice Job Terry: One of these days I will get to fish again between work and weather missed the whole weekend. Next weekend will hit it got the weekend off. Hope the June slow down holds off for a bit.
  7. I mounted trees on my gunwales and they were 1.5" thick but too narrow to use the custom under plates my buddy Terry made. We ended up using 1 1/2" marine hardware screws. They worked really well and the mount is solid. I did put some epoxy in the holes just befor I sunk the screws. The biggest draw back is to be sure u have a good pilot hole,or u can ruin the screw head as these screws have a phillips head and are notoriously hard to sink. Finished the mounting in less than an hour and they are rock solid. Good luck.
  8. This is another reason I subscribe to this site. We may not fix your problem but someone is always ready to lend a hand or loan a tool. Good job Dan. Jon hope u solve your problem. I know how u feel lost lower main shaft in the lower unit last fall and missed 2 weeks in August.
  9. Good deal Ken plan on fishing Sunday evening in St Joe, will let u guys know how we do. Work today and tomorrow in the AM. Nice trip for an evening hope we do as well.
  10. Should be open weather permitting, I plan on fishing at least once this weekend an evening trip. Gotta work Sat., Sunday and Monday, but should be short days. If weather permits we can plan Saturday the 4th. I will call u and firm up.
  11. Hey Kevin get the 12# balls. I use 12# balls on the long arm riggers and 15# Pancake wts on the shortarm for the deep presentation. I also have 8# balls for early spring shallow water fishing where blowback is not a problem. My boat is ready to go and when u guys are ready let me know.
  12. I use both sizes and both are productive at different times of the year, early spring the standard stinger is the ticket for coho and browns and the spring Kings will take them too. Most of the rest of the year we go with the Magnum stingers. They are very productive. I personally am not stuck on 1 make of spoon, I use several. They all work, Its the old addage they catch the fisherman then he catches fish. Presentation, depth and speed are the most important part of the presentation. However I do try to present a spread of the same color and patterns on all of the rods, except the ones I target for Lake Trout. This spring some sort of yellow and orange or red has been the best for me when fishing for Kings, Coho it was body baits and copper or gold with red were killer. So It is important to have a good selection but if u find 1 that is hitting get more of the same or similar down there in the active zone.
  13. Good job Ben! Now u gotta keep it goin for the rest of the Summer>
  14. Nicely done Mark. There are still lots of fish to catch, and u and I will have to hit the Joe together. One of these days I will get a day off, and give u a call.
  15. Good job Todd,I should be over to St Joe Sat or Sun PM trip, gotta work int he AM both days and Monday is a full day at the Job. I cant wait to try my new rod holders, got them installed last Thursday and work has kept me from fishing and looks like it will until at least the end of next week. So Keep the reports coming I am gonna need all the help I can get.
  16. What Ken said, let your deep diver out but set it in a paralell to the water rod holder and just let the drag creep out slowly while u set up another rod, the clickers should be on so u can hear them go out. I usually set the riggers and cores first, then the dipseys. But thats just personal preference. Be sure your deepest presentations are closer to the boat, set your deep divers on 1 to 1.5 and your high divers on 2.5 to 3. The biggest thing is get the rods down paralell to the water. I run a V presentation on all my stuff. 4 riggers inside ones set deepest, the shallower ones are the longarm gunwale riggers. Just an example would be set your deep riggers at the bottom range of where u want to fish and your u shallow riggers in the mid to top range. I run 6 long lines and my preference is 300' 45# copper in close on a Walleye board, then a 10 color 27# lead core then 4, 5 or 6 color. that gives u a good spread on the boards. The wire divers will be set on 1.5 and get down to the bottom of the spread. In 70 FOW I will usually try to get them down 55 to 60 ft about 100 ft of wire. The High divers will be set on 3 and usually out 150 to 160. Good luck hope this helps some.
  17. Well done captain, we had a lot of non committal fish on the east side too.
  18. Good luck on the weekend Ben the fishing will only get better for the next few days if we keep getting steady temps and the barometer doesn't bottom out.
  19. Well done Mark keep puttin the smackdown on em.
