  1. Nice work! We were BSing this weekend with dismal results on the Michigan side of the lake, that we should boogie over to the Wisconsin side......guess we were right.....
  2. Nice job. I hope you register that 14# ho for your master angler status!
  3. Curious, does wire really dive deeper than braid? I too have heard that wire puts a lot of fish in the box. Braid is not stretch and a thin diameter, thinner than that of wire I would think. But have heard mention that the "hum" of the wire gets the fish. I don't have wire (yet) and just curious
  4. You have not had a shortage of HAWGS!!!!!!!! Keep doin' what you're doin I'm with Frank, putting this on the list... C what we can do next year
  5. Fish were deep, big white paddle and KRW's Riverside fly. 1st night of a 5 day trip it took 8 out of 16 bites. Then it continued to take hits the rest of the week. We all have our favorites. Green jeans usually takes a few rips 1st thing in the morning for me. Happy meal is consistent. Moo Moo meat rig spinnie with green fly Carmel Dolphin FL green glow froggy Acie high glow plugs and since I started using them last year Scarpace plugs have to go somewhere in the starting line up. The list goes on and on and on and on.......it's good to have options. As much as the fishing changes it's crucial to be changing lures
  6. That's my favorite. Is it too late to run up to Arcadia, trailer the boat down and chop all y'all's wood? Good luck you guys.....have fun..... may the best man win....and since I'm not there...hope it's one of you fellas!
  7. Thanks for the report Maniac~ Wish everyday could be easy limits and full coolers, unfortunately conditions change and so does the fishing. But you're well aware of what is right around the corner....some spectacular fishing
  8. Yep George, Good group here with plenty of information revolving the sickness we refer to as "fishing". Welcome!
  9. Not sure, but guessing the warm water is not helping things.
  10. Sounds like a great time. We were out trolling before daybreak last weekend, no one else out yet. And right as it started to lighten up a little bit here's a 50'r coming right at us, passed by oh maybe 100' from us, and it was the same thing....HOLD ON GUYS, huge wake. I guess it happens.....
  11. Story sounds familiar to me..... Nice chatting with you! Hope to catch up with you next time.
  12. I'm looking for a new anchor also. Too much wind and she don't want to hold.
  13. Made the commute over to the west side on Friday night. With the forecast calling for heavy winds out of the north we were unsure about making it out for salmon on Saturday. Woke up on Saturday to find bigger waves then we wanted to fish. Thought about doing harbor patrol, but I'm not a fan of traffic, so we opted for some pan/perch fishing in Portage lake instead. Got out of the wind and anchored up, and once the sun came out it was a fantastic day. We caught all the perch someone could want, however, most of them were DINKS. I was reeling in a perch when this hit, it actually hit the perch I'm not sure how big it was, we're thinking between 6-7#, it was a MONSTER. Had to net it with my salmon net. After blowing through all of our wigglers and minnows we rigged up for some trolling around the lake, as salmon come in there from time to time. We started trolling when this thing hit a dipsy with a green on white spinny with a green fly behind it, another fine specimen...... Had dinner and checked the lake, it looked to be laying down. So Sunday morning was a green light. Hit the lake at O' dark 30 and proceeded to search for some silver. Tried in shallow with not many marks and no action, so we slid out to the west over the shelf. went 2/4 with a coho and a steelhead. Ho off the rigger 40 down moonshine mage spoon 1/2 white 1/2 black with ladder back tape on it. steel off a dipsy no ring 125 back spinny / fly Not a total loss for the weekend. Seems everytime I have a trip planned to fish the wind and conditions are less than ideal. 2 more trips to go, hopinig we can end the season on a good note.
  14. Yeah buddy. Sounds like all hell broke loose...love it when that happens. HEavy plug bite eh?
  15. Nice job Yankee! GOing to give it a shot this weekend in hopes of catching some mature kings before they're gone. Looking at the wind for the weekend....we've got our work cut out for us. TIght lines
  16. Not quite certain this is a duty he should be doing.....
  17. Not to hijack the thread, as I love the antics of a select few at the ramps.... But... A few years back we were fishing Onekama area. 2 sailboats were heading south from Frankfort. Not sure how exactly they got right on top of us, but they did. We had to essentially turn 90* to get the heck out of their way, not 1, but 2!!!!! I think they have a secret code that involves being pompus and thinking they own the water! Under motor power they get a little bit back from me....LOL I was on the radio in Manistee a few weeks back, I was fishing alone, and then all of the sudden I'm being closed in on by a boat. We were on a north troll with no one around for miles. Then toward dusk there was a boat right of our starboard side........I made it pretty clear on the radio that if they didn't turn I would be chopping their wood! They turned
