  1. Josh I have a garmin colorado which accepts my great lakes chip out of my fixed GPS and has the 3D for the best view of any breaks and shoals. A little pricey compared to the unit you are looking at but IMO it cant be beat for the use you are looking for.
  2. Frank When you put it in perspective like that I believe you may have a legit point.
  3. Mike Welcome aboard. You came to the right place to ask questions like these. What is the action rating on the rods? That is something that will help any opinions we might have.
  4. Welcome aboard Tom:welcome: I have had pretty good luck running the NBK 8" protrolls with 5' leader to a stinger size NBK. We played with it off the side of the boat with the different leader lengths and 5' seemed to be best with the speeds we run to achieve the natural action of the spoon.
  5. Every once in a GREAT while we will catch them through the ice jigging for coho in the spring in superior. Usually only between 4-7lbs, but is a wild run they take you on with a little rod and light tackle!
  6. In northwestern part of lake Michigan and lake superior they are fished with a slip sinker, barrel swivel, 12" #4 fluorocarbon leader, #8 hook with a c-cured salmon egg from a noodle rod works the best....mainly from an ice shack or if you can get the boat still enough. The swedish pimple works well otherwise. Best of luck, they are very light on the bite....far from an aggressive fish!!
  7. Welcome aboard John! By the looks of some of the walleye catches posted here...there are some real PROS here. Enjoy!
  8. Congrats Ken! Looks like your quick change lures are ready to go!!!
  9. Terry...welcome aboard and it is great to add another mighty lake "O" fisherman to the site:welcome: Hope you enjoy the site and we look forward to your reports!
  10. Believe it or not.....i think i may finally be where i want to be as far as rigging goes...Big Jon graciously will be providing me with 2 Brute ES riggers and i have 3 more tekotas to complete an entire shimano tekota spread:grin: This is a great spot to be in with one of those new "little people" around now....those little buggers are as expensive as fishing and this is only the beginning:eek: I am sure i will find room for more tackle some how!! However, i do know this sport is like a sickness and will most likely be a never ending cash draining love of my life
  11. Welcome to GLF Chuck:welcome: This is a great community with extremely helpful members...enjoy!
  12. Great pics...they were forcasting 26'-30' waves near stannard rock in superior yesterday evening!!
  13. Great addition to the site....I have been using offshore products since i started this expensive habit;) Welcome to the site Bruce:welcome:
  14. Nice Coho Peter!! I have not had the boat hit the water since labor day and we picked up a few in trout bay. Hoping to hit the bay this week....thanks for the report!
  15. Robert...thanks for the offer! The fire was contained to a small area of CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS electronic equipment....so no physical loss on our end, just a ton of nasty smoke damage. So if you would like to provide a lynch mob to help me get reimbursement from charter for our displacement and cleaning service fees i would welcome that as they are not being cooperative:angry2: The fees were only going to be a little over my deductible and didnt want to risk a hike in premium so i had to bear the cost of a fire that started in SOMEONE ELSE'S EQUIPMENT:confused:
  16. Mike I am afraid to even talk about it because so far she rarely cries and goes to sleep around 11-12 and doesn't move until 6am. I did not expect a baby that would let me sleep 6 hrs straight I know this is subject to change but for now....i'll take it!!!
