  1. Read a few reviews online about this GPS not locking onto sats after a year or so of use. Has anyone on GLF had this problem? Just curious before I purchase. Thanks!
  2. Ernie was extremely helpfull! It sound like the H2O with a Lakemasters pro Michigan card is what I need. It also sound like the H2O c is worth the extra 100 bucks, but eats up batteries faster. What would you guys do? H2O for 120 or H2O c for 220?
  3. Hey Guys, I was looking to get a GPS which I can use on the great lakes. I need something that will work good for ice fishing, so I'm not constantly drilling holes and dropping weights to find reefs, drop offs, humps, those kinds of things. I heard the lowrance h2o is a good one, but I'm not sure where to get one and what maps/chips I would need. Can someone help me out in purchasing the right thing?
  4. going out this weekend with a friend. what station will you have the radio on? josh
  5. Looking to purchase a cheap depth finder for a 14 foot boat. My cousic bought a boat without any electronics, just to chase some walleyes around little bay. He doesn't need anything too fancy, just something basic (Poor college kid). Just wondering if anyone had one collecting dust at the house and wanted to get rid of it for a good price? Thanks, Josh
  6. It had been almost 2 weeks since my last fishing adventure. Had to get my fix last night. Got 5 Fish (3 King, 2 Lakers). Some good eats here. Oh yeah, went home last weekend and found one of my dad's old nets and changed out the netting with my POS net. I forgot how easy it was to net a fish when the fish don't fall threw the gaping holes in it. Sad though, landed alot of fish with that net, just wasn't getting the job done anymore. Here's the proof.
  7. Makes the fish I'm catching look like minnows! Great fish!
  8. my brother is sitting on the cooler...King for a day
  9. Sorry it took so long, but here is a picture of saturday night after we got off of the water.
  10. Man, I wish I could make it down for this event. Kind of a far drive from Houghton Have fun guys!
  11. I agree with running your lures up high. The only fish I've caught when it's completely dark are on green dolphins with glow backs, faintly charged. I run the 100 to 125 feet out, snap them onto a walleye board. The best way is to let them out by using a light drag and then slowly tighten the drag until it stops clicking, this way you here the fish and don't have to rely on seeing the board in the dark. I like to troll slower then too (2mph) and just let than spoon flutter just under the surface. Some hard strikes on that set up.
  12. This seems to be a hot debate and I see how both sides can make a case. I'd like everyone to weigh in on this topic. THANKS!
  13. What are the best hooks on spoons?
  14. Hey Guys, I had the chance to take a first timer out last night. A buddy of mine from my softball team had never been salmon trolling. The salmon didn't let us down! We got out around 6:30 and trolled until 9:00 with only 2 lakers in the boat, and you could see the worried looks on their faces. Then we finally hooked a salmon, about a 3 pound coho. My buddy gottem up to the surface and the fish threw the hook. At this point he was really worried he missed his only chance at a salmon. Then came the 15 minutes of fame. We hit two nice kings on the next pass, then turned around and hit another king (6 pounder) on the way back. The fish had darted at the boat and dove under the trolling motor and got wrapped up, so i reached over to pick him up and the net some how fell in the lake. I hurried to throw the fish in the livewell and cranked the boat back around to get the net. Once we got the net back, I told my friend to let out the flasher fly rig to 45 feet on the line counter reel, and I started to crank up the downrigger. I no sooner got about 4 cranks on the downrigger and a nice coho come up and slammed the flasher fly rig my buddy was holding on to. Got that that fish in and then the action went dead. Just like I told him when we left the boat launch. "Sometimes it can be 4 hours of nothing for 15 minutes of fame."
  15. I'm going out tonight, but keweenaw bay will be like glass oh yeah
