  1. Welcome to GLF Cathy!
  2. That's a good start with all the tough fishing up and down the coast.
  3. Always good when the boat runs great on the first trip and you put something in the box.
  4. Very nice catch guys!
  5. And the editors there were going nuts about some coal ash from the Badger. One big storm and they are putting in 20 times the amount of pollution the Badger does all year.
  6. Nice ride Matt, glad you made it back home.
  7. We had a slow day out of St Joe today. My buddies boat has problems and we couldn't run full speed, the motor would almost die, sounded like a clogged fuel filter. It trolled fine so we did figure 8's in front of the piers and got 1 coho. Other boats I spoke with had 0-3 fish each. It was slow on the pier for some friends fishing there. They got 1 coho.
  8. Welcome Jason!
  9. Welcome Dan
  10. That's a real nice brown and nice catch for a short trip. Always good when the boat runs good first time out in the spring.
  11. Looks very nice, you're going to have some good times on her.
  12. Heard it was kind of slow for the trollers on Saturday plus there was a small craft advisory out so we went to the Kalamazoo River this morning to see if we could hit some steel. Deep inside I knew better than to be going there on a mild weekend day. It was crowded, lot's of traffic and we didn't have a bite by 10:30. We took pier and surf gear and winds we laying down so by 11:15, we were headed for St Joe. First stop was Weko Beach to see if we could surf fish. It was just too rough there. Then we headed to the pier and finally got set up by 1:30. Hit some fish real quick and had 3 coho's 2 browns and a whitefish in the first 1-1/2 hrs. Then it died from 3Pm to 5PM. We were going to pull rods in 5 minutes when I got a nice coho. Then my buddy hit one. We looked at each other and both said we are staying a bit longer. Then it lit up, we hit a bunch and landed most of them and had our limit by 6PM with 2 bonus whitefish. We ended up with 7 coho's, 3 browns and the whitefish. One brown and one whitefish were small and kept because they were hooked in the gills, the rest were decent. Got most on steelie skein and a few on bags. I wish I could get out this week but I can't. A lot of coho's showed and were caught up and down the pier. Good luck if you can get out there soon. Here is my catch:
  13. A warm welcome to you!
  14. Welcome Adam, in the coming weeks into May, there can be some good pier action for walleyes as dusk and dark. Pier fishing can be hit or miss, their one day and gone the next. Depends on conditions on Lake Mich and how winds and currents move the water around. Do some looking on the various forums and you can pick up some good info. Some of the best pier action for salmon and trout can be in February and March. Thing are running late this year and there is probably a few good weeks. The early season is a spawn bite so without it, it will be tough. Now that the water is warming, spoons, crawlers and other baits start working better. Don't wait to long. The pier shore fishing really tapers off when nearshore waters warm up. You can get some smallmouth and perch into summers in the piers. There is good fishing for whitefish off the piers in November into winter. You can get some spawn visiting the Holland fish cleaning station in August when the boat guys are cleaning fish if you ask nicely. Load up and freeze it and you have it for next year. Use the salmon spawn to catch some steelhead in the winter and use their spawn. Steelhead spawn is the best in the spring.
  15. Welcome Capt Reid
  16. And the launch fee machine was not installed last weekend so you can launch for free until they get that up and running. They are also building a fish cleaning station there this year.
  17. Nice job Terry. That laker is a good one.
  18. Been getting mine too but no long distance fish for me this year. Everything was planted near to where I caught it. One year a while ago, I got an Ausable plant off St Joe.
  19. We started with an assortment of colors but loaded up on the ones in the pic when they started working.
