  1. During times when bright sunlight is not present, baitfish and salmon often will be found in the top 30 feet of water. This are the times of the day where the fish are most concentrated, and most importantly they are actively feeding.
  2. Heard about some kings in 40 fow...glad the boat was running good. If you are ever looking for another give me a shout. I live 20 minutes from the launch and my oldest is able to babysit anytime now!
  3. If you have room for one more Friday I have rods rigged and a ton of lures, maybe I could play hooky. I grew up in NW Idiana and cut my teeth fishing for browns and coho. I live in Hudsonville and could ride down with you. Be happy to chip in for gas and help run a spread. If anyone else is headed down Friday and has room let me know.l Tim
  4. Welcome aboard. Most folks troll in the mud and south out of the piers. Put the boat in 10 FOW and run high lines unweighted with spoons and body baits on planer boards. Jointed rapalas J-9 and J-11 in orange/gold, black/gold, blue/white, clown are very good. Thinfins, thinfish, rapalas, X-raps, and other body baits work well too. Play with speed a bit, but 2-3 mph works good. Good luck and let us know how you do.

  8. BTW my sources say it sounds like there was floating ice as of a couple days ago in IN waters and the milky water has limited action for a minute until the water clears.

(Wobbler spoon) from shore,†Eddy McCain of Mik Lurch Tackle in Hammond, said. “He had it weighed (on certified scales) at Town & Country (Market).†The Indiana state record, caught in 2006, stands at 29.03 pounds.
  10. Congrats Ken, wanna go fishing tonight after work?
  11. If I had to pick just a couple...
  12. Nothing wrong with shorter coppers. 75-225' rigs rock, add a snap weight, dive bomb, or torpedo weight if you want to go deeper. The 450-600' coppers are a pain, but do work. It just seems for as much as you invest in them they don't see too much action compared to the shorter segments. The Okuma Convector GL copper/leadcore series has the large stainless eyes and works great on a modest budget. The Shimanos are really nice too.
  13. Shows up pretty good looking into the sun.
  14. It handles a bit nicer, darn stuff still tangles though.
  15. Glad you had fun. There were some great deals and some very knowledgeable folks there for sure. We had at least 4 charter captains and many tournament fishermen in attendance. Sounds like someone nabbed 6 dipsey divers new in package from one table. Sad to hear.

  17. Think small, try 2-3 salmon egg spawn bags when rivers are cold, clear, and low.
  18. Keep your wire divers set to 1 or 1.5 and you will probably be ok in most situations. Running high divers set to 2-3 over 100' back you are just begging to get into the copper if you get a decent fish that comes up into your copper rigs. The best defense is a good offense. When a fish hits a diver in that situation reel the affected copper reel like mad to raise it up in the water column so that the diver will clear underneath it. We usually reel all the way to the board and hang it off that side until the diver line is clear and behind the boat.
  19. Love me some wings! Bring it!
  20. Congrats Terry, sweet rig. Having the Swap meet Feb 6 in case you need a table to sell some stuff.
  21. That would be cool, we could always use my church where we have the swap meets every Saturday before the Superbowl, for a small donation to the church. It is located just off 196 in Grandville by Rivertown Crossings Mall. I have access to wireless mic's for the speakers and seating for 200.
  22. Here is a 22 lb king from 2009 fishing out of Muskegon, but caught just south of Pentwater.
