  1. I also have a 2 season old Depth Raider available in case someone is looking for one under $300 pm me.
  2. A quad set adjustable tree A new probe Some new short core and copper reels, and we need to find a new tournament scale. Any recommendations on a good 30# scale?
  3. Looks like southerly winds 20-30 mph for Friday so be careful out there. Most times we don't even start until dark thirty or even 11pm. Have not heard much on the perch yet other than not much happening in the usual spots. Tim
  4. Sure have, Muskegon, White, Macatawa, Pentwater, and Ludington all get pretty good shots of fish. Once the Lake MI walleyes invade the drowned river mouths around 40 degrees it is game on! Let me know if you ever need a rider as I don't currently have a boat. I'd be happy to show you what I know.
  5. Still a little early for that trophy. 40 degrees and below is your best shot at a big girl and temps right now are hovering around 50 degrees. You will still catch fish and possibly a big one any time though. All I would add to your program is a pump / pause into your action to the bait. You can sweep your rod forward 8-18" and then let your rod slowly fall back allowing your lure to stop for a few seconds. That magic pause is when most fish hit! Vary up your action until you find what they want. Usually gently sweep the rod forward every 5 seconds, pause and repeat. Don't pull too fast as you may pull it away from a chomping fish. speeds of 1.2-1.3 mph on the GPS have been working lately. Keep your drag tight and be ready to set the hook when you feel the slightest tick.
  6. Check out these babies. http://fishertackle.com/jackinfo.html
  7. http://www.amishoutfitters.com/catalog2.htm I have used the set of 18" buggy bags on boats from 14' to 21' aluminum boat and they work great. Every time I bring these along and use them on someone elses boat they buy a set the next day, they work that good. You might want to try a bigger bag like 22" or the beefy bags since you have a glass boat and they are not that much more money price wise. Personally I would get a pair of the 28" beefy bags, they will last forever.
  8. You tell momma yet Ken? Sweet ride buddy!
  9. When netting gets tough sometimes an overhand shot can deliver the goods.
  10. We won a pair of the Big Jon Brutes in the 333 overall, just ordered a set of the 4 rod holder Traxtech bird trees and a pair of net holders thanks to 333 Traxtech prizes. We'll be stylin'! Also we are looking to sell the Depth Raider and pick up a Fish Hawk, tired of replacing the coated cable and issues associated with that. Aside from that the captain is starting to look for the ultimate upgrade, a new boat.
  11. I've seen the Power Pro break off in those Church clips too many times. All of our core or copper lines use 30# mono backer, or use a 30# mono shock leader about 30' long between the core/copper and Power Pro backer. This line holds up well in the church clips and if you clip the board onto the same spot on the mono every time you can easily see if the line is getting weak. It is simple then to trim the bad section off and retie before you experience a break off.

  13. Thanks Mike, I'll try to run over there today.
  14. My guess is that that diver is running 60' down depending on what lure and speed you are running. At a 45 degree angle that diver is running 140' out to the side. Shorten the angle to 30 degrees and it's only 40' out to the side. Sure there's a chance at tangling, but even worse running 4 divers and copper.
  15. A lot of what is said here will help, but some days they just don't hook up good. Saturday we went 15 for 30+ and had less than a .500 average. The fish were just playing with the flies or missing them. Most were smaller fish that just didn't really ever hook up from what I observed. We switched to Shimano reels for a super smooth drag and quick startup for the wire and did everything right and still lost that many. Even the fish we did manage to land were bigger, and were barely hooked or came off at the net. Friday and Sunday we missed maybe 3 combined on the divers. Heck Friday we were having a hard time getting the riggers to stick. Some days.
  16. Nice job Joe, we were cleaning fish when you guys took that picture. Some great fishing out there for sure. We had an all right day Saturday and a fantastic day Sunday to place us in 3rd in the Am. A well run tourney and one of our favorites. If you guys are fishing GH, Holland, or Saugatuck look us up and say hi.
  17. Wouldn't you like to know. What, you can't remember what we were using last year? How come I don't see you signed up for the Brown Blast either? Your not going to chicken out are you?
  18. I did not log the results, but the deep rigger was hot from spring through fall. The other 3 riggers had marginal success so we usually only ran 1 or 2 total. Then divers, they were going so well that we ran 4 almost every trip with wire on the low mag divers set to 1 and braid on the high divers dialed to 3 1/2 with a super ring. In the end I believe the high divers won set way back anywhere from 225-350' which put them way away from the boat. Long cores and copper rigs held their own week in and week out too, we never got too fixed on any one presentation though and gave them what they wanted that day. I'm not so sure it was the presentation as much as presenting the different lures at the depth they were working or at times getting them farther away from the boat.
  19. Awesome! Sometimes after missing the scoop like that an overhand try at it usually does the trick for me.
  20. Is it goose season? Let's give them a proper sendoff!
  21. We'll be out on the lake by boat chasing eyes. It's been jam packed along the wall in the better spots. You guys should do well.
  22. Nice job guys, starting to hit some eyes at night too.
  23. We usually troll with the electric motor (so not to spook the fish in the shallow water) around 1mph. The hardest part in this program to learn is boat control. Most of the good breaklines in this lake go from 2' to 30' of water in the length of a boat. No planer boards or rod holders, just a rod in hand pumping and pausing the bait as you go by. There is nothing that compares to a big walleye smacking your bait, especially after 6 hours with nothing. You have to put a lot of time in, and most of it with nothing to show for it. It is not easy fishing by any means, but the rewards can be great!
