  1. its common curtisey to call whom ever and move to a different channel such as 22 , do your conversing there. as not to impede necessary broadcasts. 16 and 9 are emergency channels, can't tell you what each one is for, but most have a designation. PAN PAN PAN = it's an URGENT distress call.. but not an EMERGENCY PAN-PAN (pronounced PON-PON) URGENCY call on Channel 16. Start the call by repeating PAN-PAN three times. Once you have made contact, communicate your boat name, position (latitude and longitude, or distance from known geographical point), and type of assistance required or problem. Identify a listening frequency and monitor that channel. Cancel PAN-PAN when urgency has been resolved.
  2. I have the depth Raider , wouldn't fish with out one again. Very stable on the speed, as soon as the probe hits the water it turns on, same in reverse. Only draw back is the size of the probe, good amount of blow back, compared to no probe at all. Bought Mine from Ebay , a factory referb, same warranty 120.00 cheaper.Looked like it never touched the water.
  3. good question hope you get you answer, I would like to know too
  4. Just looked at the forecast , looks like we may try later today or tomorrow morning. Monday looks kinda iffy . Good luck

  7. Hey Josh try these links http://www.crh.noaa.gov/greatlakes/?c=map&l=gl&p=a&m=wh The second one has a map that you can click on where you will be and gives you the forecast for that area. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=43.052833917627936&lon=-87.80960083007812&site=lot&smap=1&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=marine I have a few more but these seem to be about the best. 8. Well Welcome to the site , if you have any more questions feel free to post them , Someone here always seems to have an answer. I was a newbie at the bigging of the season also. Progressed very fast thanks to all the guys and gals here. Tight Lines JIm
  9. I have run the standard Lj snubbers and picked up some clear ones , I think the clear ones will work better , less hardware visable in the water. Never had any problems with the colored ones though, would like to find some clear dipseys also.
  10. Nice Mark .at least you have cold water there, all we have here is bath water.
  11. Jimmy , do you sell JP Slammers in sets? Does the watermellon come in a glow?
  12. Rj What you do is pull the line all the way to the back of the clip, you may have to increase the pressure some . I have had a couple release but were still able to get the boards in before it hit the fish. Are you available during the week? I try to get out a couple of times during the week if I can . We usually leave for the launch about 5 If everything is ready and get back home about 10 pm . I will be in town this weekend and weather permitting would be doing a lot of fishing this weekend , My wife is working the weekend Saturday/Sunday so I am free to fish.
  13. Most guys and some charters run church boards so they don't release. If you set it up to release you must have some type of stop, such as a swivel. if you don't it will hit the fish in the head. The last thing you want to happen. When pulling in boards that do not release , keep the rod tip down and to the opposite direction from which it came . once you get the board off its just you and the fish, Rj if you like I could take you out or be happy to go out with you if you need help figuring out the boards, when setting lines , set the farthest line out first working back to the boat. To reset a line let out your core , attatch you board let your line out until your in the correct position. and let it pull back into line with the others.
  14. Never leave lures out , they can become tangled in things like the anchor rope. and could impale the unexpecting.
  15. Russ could you sent me a copy of the picture that you posted full size. We had a great time will do it again sometime. Hope that fishing improves here and is not so far out, most reports from Milwaukee have been sparse. Let me know how the shirts perform, if you have any problems with them, Its a different product than what we have been using . If you need hats , Hoodies Sweat shirts , Jackets we do them also. 16. Make sure that there is a plate on underside of the gunwale to support the weight. How deep would you be running your riggers, a 8-10 pound ball is fine for shallow 10-30 feet. If your going deeper I would suggest a 12lb ball so you minimize the blow back . I have 2 cannons mounted to the corners on my Tracker and 2 mounted 1/3 of the way forward. The side riggers need more support because of the lenth . with 4 ft booms running 12lb balls you have a lot of tork on the riggers. 17. Just that it looks really different, if you don't have it that ok , just wanted to do a little research on why the head would get so big . If it possibly crossed breaded. Or if its just genetics.
  18. I am sure glad to hear that, to sit by idle is to invite more of the same.
  19. its a mutant fish, Do you still have the head , I would like a close up of that.
  20. Wish I could afford a boat like that! Sweet!! Russ is very knowledgeable on fishing, I have never seen two guys work so well together as Russ and Luke.
  21. Took a charter out of Milwaukee With Captain Russ, we had a great time, My son wants to do it again , Fished out deep for steelhead, He knew where to find them . Went 19 for 23 ? tossed back a couple shakers , in the bunch most were steelhead with a very nice Coho and my son came up with the big one again, 15lb king. All this in about 2 hours of fishing!!! Thanks Russ we all had a good time. Tight Lines Jim
