  1. Congratulations Jason & Beth.
  2. I added two 330 Penns for my lead core. These reels are so nice all of the guys are fight over who gets to reel in the lead core??
  3. I had this happen on two of my Okuma Classic Pro that I use for lead core. Once I replaced that plastic gear I found the reel would still jam. I called Okuma and talked to a tech there. He told me this. In the bottom of the line leveler there is a pal that rides in the grove. That gets worn. When the line leveler gets to one side or the other making its transition from one direction to the other it gets jammed. I replaced that pal and they work great again. He told me it was caused by letting your line out and flipping the lever to stop the line. I did that! He said it is better to stop the spool with your thumb then flip the lever and that will help to prevent ware. I also greased everything up good. Hope this helps. TT
  4. Nice job Jim. Good to see Manistee is heating up. Great report, sounds like a fun time.
  5. Marty, on your reel you probably need to replace the clicker pal. Go to the Okuma web site and they have expldede views of you reel with part numbers so you know what to order. On my reels when one goes I just replace them all. I too have been struggling with putting fish in the box. I mark them on the screen but they don't want to play. TT
  6. I have 4 of them and found they do not hold up to regular use. The line counters break. The drags are not very good. This year I have replaced all of them with Okuma Catalinas and Penns. For me these were fine entry level reels that got me started.
  7. Frank, I did make it to AuGres a few weeks back. Conditions were less than ideal. 3-4 foot waves and wind made it difficult to find walleye. I think we ended up with 3 for the day. This is the way walleye fishing has been for me all year. When I can go the wind waves and walleye don't cooperate. I will work on walleye again next year. It is salmon time now. I still want to fish the Saginaw Bay some more. TT
  8. Friday we took a half day off of work to travel to Muskegon (Fishermans Landing) to get in a weekend of salmon fishing. Got out on the water Friday around 6:00. We ran out to 80 fow and set up with a west troll. We started marking a few fish around 110 and very few bait fish. At 160 we landed a laker off of the 3 color. We continued west out to 200 with no more hits. We turned to go back to the area where the laker hit but no more takers. Saturday we got a later start than we wanted due to the lightning but we were on the water by 07:00. We fished to the south starting in the 160 fow moving deeper and shallower. We had one rip on a superman J-plug but no one home. At 2:00 we wrapped it up to get some chow. Later we met Mike (GLF) for an evening fish and set up in 60 fow in front of the port. We were marking a lot of fish and finnaly connected with a nice one. It was a slow tough bite this weekend. On Sunday we hit the water and started out in the same area and managed another nice Salmon. We ended up with two on Sunday and missed one on the rigger. The good news is we didn't get skunked, and it has to get better. We will be fishing Manistee this coming weekend.
  9. Great report Jay, I am fishing Manistee next weekend.
  10. I had my lowrance do strange things like turn itself on when I left it connected and under the boat cover. I ended up sending it in for repairs and they sent a slip stating not to allow it to get too hot like under the cover or in a parked car. I built a garage to solve that problem.
  11. I spoke with the rep from Big Jon at the Flint Steelheaders show and he told me the Captains Packs are 12 lb. He said you could upgrade the motors if you want to go more. I am good with 12 lb.
  12. Very nice boat, huge dance floor.
  13. I just switched to Blacks this year and like them.
  14. Ken, it looks like a nice trip. I remember when I went to Canada on fishing trips with my dad. Those are some great memories that will never fade. Tom
  15. Good job Andy, great to be out on the water and camp out on the boat!
  16. Nice job Andy and crew. I will have to head to the big lake soon. TT
  17. Nice box of fish Ed. Next time I will have to head out to Ohio waters too.
  18. My second trip of the year on Erie. Launched around 02:00pm and ran out to the front of Fermi 26 fow near the Ohio line. Managed 4 walleyes each measured 14.5". Just undersized. I thought we kept catching the same fish?? 2 came on a stinger lime tux on the downrigger. The other two on a white crawler harness on a BB. Had to head in @ 06:00pm. The lake layed down nice and it was fun to be out. Hope to get out again this weekend. I have some other spots I want to try. Tom
  19. Ed I will be launching out of Sterling on Thursday afternoon. I will give you a shout. Tom
  20. Mike, can I get two in white?
  21. Duane this is a good question. I have had my Dipsys come up under my lead core and it makes a mess. I have started running my deep Dipsys on setting 1 and my high lines on 2 or 2 1/2 but don't run much past 80 feet. My high lines are tward the front of the boat in the rod holders and the deep ones are near the back of the boat. Hope this helps. Tom
