  1. Nice job Ben, and thanks for the info. Unfortunately we didn't get out since we had some motor problems. I posted it on general discussions if you're interested.
  2. Well, after a week of sitting around waiting for the weather with the new boat, I tool the maiden voyage sat. night. Didn't even make it out to the pierheads. Going across Lake Macatawa the main motor idled fine and went no wake fine fine but the minute I tried to drop the hammer it sputtered and stuttered and wouldn't get up to rpm. Tried the front tank for gas and no change. Thought the choke was stuck on because it felt like too much gas instead of not enough. In the middle of the lake decided to try the kicker motor thinking we'd let the big one cool off and see if it truly was choke problems. The 9.9 did the same exact thing. Didn't matter which gas hose went to which motor, they both barely ran at all. Popped the access to the tanks and found something weird. Don't know if it had anything to do with it but both tanks have a fill hose right next to a vent hose in them. At the other part of the tank there's two fittings for hoses. On the back tank there's a hose fixed to each fitting, on the front tank there's only one hose and the other fitting looks wide open. Also noticed a gas smell near there and thinking about it have noticed a gas smell in the cuddy when it's buttoned up. Originally thought water in the gas but could this be something??? So, in short, the maiden voyage wasn't very good and I'm heartbroken cause I'm missing this awesome fishing and now I'm stuck with a boat problem and no idea how to fix it. If you happen to know motors, and or gas lines, please chirp in. Thanks Mike
  3. I just broke one of the ends to a support rod on my soft top. It's those white plastic inserts into the aluminum tube that goes into a bracket and has a screw go through the hole. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, wondering where in the world do you get that? Do I get the white plastic piece or have to get a whole new tube? Thanks
  4. Since you don't have many rods to go deep can you put 5 or 6 ounces of weight on your 7 color? Is the 225 copper 32 or 45 pound? If 32, put a few onces on that too.
  5. +1 above. Run the high diver on 3 and you won't have problems.
  6. I'd still run them simply because it's easier to see if a board is dragging with a shaker on it if you're got a reference point.
  7. Thank you very much for the info. I don't fish Erie but reading your reports makes me want to try......
  8. Don't be afraid of wire. I just got back into it a few years ago and was scared of wire and copper. Both take a little finesse, but it's not a big deal at all.
  9. Thanks everyone, I don't think I'll try the maiden voyage until Saturday dang it.
  10. Thanks Ken, that's a really nice site.
  11. I'd really like to get the new boat out and see what she can do but these waves are just killing me. Tomorrow (Tuesday the 24th) they're calling for 4-5 and subsiding to 1-2 for tuesday night. I can't get out until about 4 so would the waves be subsiding? Most importantly, new boat so I don't trust it but would anybody be out there in case I had trouble or is that too many waves on a weeknight to have people out?
