  1. I guess you'd call it going 3 for 6, but since 2 of the boated fish were shakers........ Seemed pretty slow out there listening to the radio, and watching other boats not catch much. Things that worked, carmel dolphin on a free slider with rigger set at 70. Mongolian beef on rigger at 50. Orange double crush on 2 color. Lost a nice one right at the boat on NBK on rigger at 70. hooked up but never saw a screamer on 2 color double orange crush. Lost one half way back on green dolphin on 7 color. Overall, much nicer waves wise than predicted, and everything ran fine on the boat.
  2. Hi, I've been reading about the fishing getting hot around holland, grand haven etc. I see it's in 90-150' of water and was wondering about how far out that is in miles? I've got an 18' open plan lund but don't really want to go out too far. Thanks
  3. Wow, those Z boards look like they pull off to the side way farther than the others. Are they plastic, or wood?
  4. I haven't been able to make it down to St. Joe, so I was wondering if this saturday the 24th would still be good. Looks like it might have slowed a bit, but is it worth going there or would Port Sheldon, Grand Haven, Muskegon be better now? Thanks Mike
  5. very well thank you. Luckily I read the coast guard rules the day before and bought everything I needed because they checked me.
  6. Tried to troll Muskegon today and basically got blown off the lake. Made one pass beyond the piers and decided it wasn't worth it, so stayed in the channel area and such. One fish on, couldn't tell what it was. Saw many of the perchers anchors not holding either.
  7. Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking of keeping the drive shorter for the first trip, but might have to think about St. Joe. My original thought was to go Whitehall, Montague and if the big lake is rough there's always perch.
  8. Just got a new boat (new to me at least), and haven't been on the big lake in years. I was wondering where to go? I know St. Joe and area are hot, but would rather only drive an hour (muskegon, GH, Whitehall) for the first trip. Any ideas? Thanks Mike
