  5. Fished with a 2 newbies - went 0-5 Fished from 8:45 am - 2:00 PM - all hits came between 11:05 AM to 1:45 PM set up in 75 FOW - good cold water and lot's of fish/bait marked. Trolled with the waves on a NE troll. Fished in figure 8's between 80-90 FOW - and the first fish hit at 11:05 AM - Was a big king hit the corner DR 65' down with a free slider - hit the slider - popped the rod and the fight was on - handed the rod to the newbies and as the fish hit the top water - made a big run and broke the slider line snap and skipped along the top of the water for about 40-50' with my NK Kevorkian in his mouth. Next hit came at noon - meat/twinkie rig on wire diver - out 225 - fight lasted about 10 minutes and he was off - nice king... Then 30 minutes later - we were in 135 FOW by this time - large steelie hit j-plug on 75 CU - got to the boat - and he jump - crossed a line - and he was gone about 45 minutes after that - I took the wire dipsy with meat to fight this time - got the king almost to the boat - and he spit it - that surprised me - as I was on point trying to get him in - but it was his day! Pulling lines - a greaser hit and we released him. My summary of the day is this - I was very happy to start tagging some large fish - and was somewhat consistent - even though we didn't boat anything - I am very grateful that I was at least producing - and they were big ones - headed out again Thurs. - and on and off over the next 2 weeks
  6. Yea - that was me - I heard you on the radio - meant to say hello to you - but got busy doing something. I will be out tomorrow for most of the day with a few friends - will let you know how it goes. Reel Deal
  7. I remember fishing Lake Ontario with the bait so thick, the downrigger rods would shimmy as we pulled through em. Sent from my SM-G900V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  8. Wow, very nice to hear.... Did you catch anything around them? Sent from my SM-G900V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  9. 2 for 4 (or 2 for 2) Hit the water at 6:45 AM - with some newbies - the wife of this guy who came, and whom I never met - really seemed like she didn't want to go from the moment she walked up to the boat at the dock - didn't matter to me - was looking forward to getting out. When we came out of the break wall - seemed far bumpier than forecast - which was not good, for her - she held out - but got sick about 9 - turned out she was quite the trooper. Water was rough - so was the catching...Fished from 90-145 FOW - 130ish had most marks and some bait - good temps down about 50 or so. Had a knock off about 8:15 on a wire dipsy with meat - 150' back - no one home. Had a another knockoff about 5 minutes later on a boom rigger 59 down with mag green spoon - no one home. Hour later - had the corner rigger fire with a blue-cracked-yellow orange bellied Jplug (color???) and boated a 5 lb laker. Pulled lines about noon - and when we did - had a small steelie hit the boom rigger with the mag green spoon. All hits came on a south troll - with the waves. Bumpy ride for the newbies, tough fishing - AT LEAST it didn't look like the dead sea out there like the last 3 times I've fished. Found some fish and bait - so that made me feel a little bit better.

  11. Good job - thanks for the report, and nice to see some fishing reports out of Muskegon. I am fishing there Thurs. and Saturday - hope to tag a few!
  12. Thanks Ed - it sounds like, from what I can tell, that fishing north of Grand Haven has been hit or miss and that there seems to be more fish concentrations south of GH - it does help - as I am heading out on Saturday early. Think I will head south from Muskegon unless there is other information that would persuade me otherwise - thanks again!!! Tight lines
  13. Hi Ed - Nice catch - just curious - did you mark a lot of fish as well? It's been a blank screen for Muskegon much of the time I've been out...would appreciate your thoughts - thanks - Jim

  15. Fished from 6:30 to 2 Started in 75 fow and continued to slide out NW of harbor to the 'point' in 360 fow. Marked a few fish here and there, but we didn't even get a knockoff. We threw everything at em, top to bottom, all speeds, zigged and zagged, did a few neutral drops with the few on the screen, tried everything I could, but no takers. Despite a gorgeous day on the water, it's beginning to get a bit frustrating as the last 3 times out, could not get the skunk out of the box. What's happening to the fishery, such that in several hours, we maybe marked a few dozen fish here and there? This is getting old, quick! Sent from my SM-G900V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  16. I too have the same model Cannon's - it just happened to me about 2 weeks ago on my second trip out for the year. I use these as boom riggers - and have electrics on the corners> I've had these for 3 years now - and no issue until now. It appears that the clutch pad just disintegrated. I ended up ordering them from on online service as I didn't think they were under warranty any more - they were about $3 each. If this keeps happening to me - I will be calling Cannon - let me know if you get any answers from Cannon - thanks!
