  1. Wow, I didn't know they still existed. I hear Roland Martin put alot of his money into this lure and lost big time! What should you do with them?, I say use them at least once. I think you are supposed to cast them and let them fall to the bottom for bass. The falling of the lure gives it the helicopter look the designer was going for. Otherwise, they make a great gag gift for any serious bass fisherman. It's right up there in gags as the Popeil Pocket Fisherman:)
  2. Thanks Jim. I was thinking about upgrading to LED lights for the bow and stern. I found some at Thefind.com It sounds like a good option.
  3. I am thinking of running my trolling battery and starting battery in parallel next season. I plan on running wires from the trolling battery in the bow of the boat to the starter battery in the stern with a disconnect switch between so when I'm using the trolling motor, I won't suck down the starting battery. My question is A) will this give me more power when I run all of my electronics? At night when I have my nav lights, marine radio, GPS and fish finder on, I don't have enough power to run my music radio. At trolling speed, engine runs about 800 RPM so the alternator is not putting out at full capacity. If this will help, what gauge wire should I use? Or, if anyone has suggestions on how I can get alittle more power so I can listen to tunes while trolling, I would greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. Looks like daddy and daughter are all smiles! Way to go!
  5. Thank you Santa! Perfect for the holidays.
  6. We don't have kids yet. I'm looking for a kicker motor (9.9 HP) and a new fish finder. The one I have now came with the boat and is 16 years old. Want one with GPS included. Other than that, just some maintenance parts for the engine and trailer and I'm all good:)
  7. Wow, that was a good shot. Enjoy all the meat!
  8. Robert, Great job to you and your family. Good luck on the bonus deer.
  9. I've heard this too. We've eliminated species of fish by commercial fishing before, maybe we can do it again with these carp:D
  10. Nice pics Jason! I love trail cam pictures, nature as it happens. Do you think we can make a sub-category in the picture section for trail cam photos? Just a suggestion.
  11. Awesome job Matt! I had a similar experience. I shot at a six point early in morning and like you, he bucked his back legs about 6 feet in the air. I thought for sure he was hit. I gave it about an hour and then went on the trail. No blood anywhere. Searched for about an hour and nothing. Went in for breakfast and then came back out with my dad and another friend. Scoured the entire area for another two hours with no blood or body. He was the only deer I saw all day. That's hunting. I'm glad I missed him clean. Taking the wife with me this Saturday. She likes sitting out and just reading or knitting (her new thing). Again, good job.
  12. I usually run my spoons clean. I've tried running one spoon behind another with the lead spoon acting like a dodger. I had some success on it, but I always like to try new stuff.
  13. Kyle, flies are looking great! What are you using for the tubing you tie the skirt to? Looks like a clear plastic aquarium tubing. I use the red nozzle straw from a WD-40 can. It's thin, but works good for me.
  14. Congrats on your first archery deer. A truly memorable moment!
  15. Welcome Aaron! I too love fly fishing the inland lakes and Lake Huron for bass and walleye. Been tying my own flies for the past ten years. Nothing like catching a fish on a fly you've created. I've learned a lot from this site and look forward to your input. Hope you learn some things too!
  16. Nice Animal Eric. Working hard for that result always makes it worth it!
