  1. Nice Boat. Plenty of room to fish. I love the bait station. Looks like you could clean your catch there and have a nice on boat lunch!
  2. Suppose I should have read your entire post, you answered my question.
  3. Welcome aboard Rick. Was wondering if you mounted the walleye on your avatar yourself? Nice looking fish.
  4. Sounds like a blast. My dad and uncle have the same "fathers versus sons" fishing battles. The sons let the old guys win every now and then:grin: Glad you had a blast!
  5. I almost ate the computer screen! Looks yummy! Thanks for the recipe.
  6. I fish out of a seventeen foot boat. It works great for me. We did get caught in some 4-5 footers in Munising Bay, and it handled the waves very well.
  7. I was just curious as to how many of you catch/have caught hatchery raised fish. Although I am still new to salmon fishing, I have never caught a trout or salmon missing it's adipose fin. I don't know if it is common to catch them or not. Thanks.
  8. Thank goodness. I have a soft side in my heart for those big sturgeon and was heart broken when I first heard the story. Glad to hear justice will be served!
  9. John, Looks like your going to be fishing in style. Remember to thank your wife! Beautiful boat.
  10. Nice Job Robert! I was at the west bay of Grand Traverse this weekend for a graduation party. I was grinding my teeth wishing I was out on the water. Weather sure was gorgeous for you!
  11. Thanks everyone. Sounds like the Blacks is the one to go with. I've been looking at that one, looks like it's easy to use.
  12. I was just curious as to what releases everyone uses. I'm using a Walker adjustable line release and am not happy with them. I'm still new to the salmon world, but ALL the hits I've had by salmon or trout have not tripped the release. The only fish to have tripped the release was a perch, and I still don't know how he did it. Everyone I've talked to says I use the release correct and I have the tension adjusted as low as it can. Any advice or suggestions on a new release would be appreciated. Thanks!
  13. Very Nice! I especially like the rear facing lights, that has to be very helpful!
  14. Dan, It's always fun to try. Maybe next time will be the time. Good to hear the Alewives are in. I thought I may have seen a few this Sunday, but wasn't sure.
  15. I love that little window shaker! The hum from it running might even attract the fish!
  16. Good Job Adam. Catching some fish always makes those waves seem just a little smaller than they really are. That'll be a nice dinner for you guys too!
  17. Nice Job Duane! Most of the guys we talked to were not having too much luck either. Sounds like you had the hot boat out there!
  18. Yeah, she came along with me. She did catch one perch, so I guess I can share:o
  19. Caught a few perch, but not too much to brag about. Caught them in 30 fow near the dunes (where most all the other boats were). We had to drift, couldn't seem to anchor and set lines on top of them. We caught ten total today, all within 30 minutes of each other. When we went back to setup for our next drift, they got a case of lock jaw. Started catching them around 3:30pm, when most of the other boats started to clear out. Truly gorgeous day on the water. Ten butterfly fillets is at least enough of a meal for me. I guess my wife will have to eat chicken:D Just kidding, I'll share.
  20. Thanks for the report. Hopefully the perch will pick up for tomorrow! If I could only figure out how to eat those dang gobies! I can't seem to keep them of the line either.
  21. I'm planning on going for perch tomorrow also. We are going to try in front of Deer Lick Creek, south of the pier. We usually start at about 65-70 fow and work our way in towards shore. If you can find the baitfish, you'll find the perch. I'll be on channel 68, the "Troll 'n Yooper" is what we go by. Good Luck and maybe I'll see ya out there.
  22. Those little guys are too cute. I remember when the cranes used to be rare and you hardly ever see them. Seems like they made a monster comeback.
