  1. Yes she did until her teen years. Lots of family still up there. Being married to her gives me a great excuse to go up to the U.P. and get some fishing in!
  2. Good Job Bromley! Your wife's a real trooper! Was that in front of the hospital you hooked up?
  3. Sean, Great picture of the Bay! My wife is from Munising, so I make it on the Bay about once a year. We always do well with the steelhead up there. Great Pic!
  4. Sorry for the late post. When we go for our fishing week, we rough it. The smallmouth bass was slow this year for the opening day. The water is still cool and the bass are holding close as they can to structure. In another couple of weeks, water should warm up for the bass to come in shallow. Live minnows work the best. Jigging spoons and plastic minnow immitations work well too. The walleye came out of a river mouth near the Port Austin Breakwall. He took a gold J11 jointed Rapala. Can't wait to eat him! If I did this right, you should have some pictures to enjoy!
  5. Looking forward to your report, Tom. Going to fish the Bay this weekend too and have never fished it before. I'll let you know if I run into anything exciting too.
  6. Nothing better than taking your kids fishing!
  7. Just wanted to share some helpful advice. I am a firm believer in maintenance over fix it when it breaks. After re-packing my trailer bearings, I must not have tightened the lug bolts on my trailer tight (we all make mistakes). Anyway, entire wheel came off the trailer on the road. Now, we all carry a spare tire for the trailer, but how many of us carry extra lug nuts? I now carry an extra set of lug bolts in the truck on every trip. I figure if I have them, I won't need them. I hope none of you end up stranded on the road like I did .
  8. Started salmon fishing last year. Only have one coho to my life history. Once I had the pleasure of tasting one, I was hooked solid. I always enjoyed the beauty of the Great Lakes and trolling gives me the excuse to get out and enjoy the weather, even if it's raining.
  9. Great Job! We were out of South Haven Yesterday too, but got skunked! Tried the planer boards for the first time, so at least we learned something. Couldn't complain about the day. Again, good job!
  10. Hi Everyone! Was turned onto this site by GLF at a seminar at D & R sports. I fish mainly Lk. Michigan out of South Haven for Perch and salmon. I am very new to salmon trolling. Have used downriggers, but am going to try planer boards this year. My wife and I bought a boat first thing after we were married. She and I have the same priorities I guess. We named the boat "The Troll 'n Youper" since she is from the U.P. It's a small 17' deep V so we only get out on the big lake when waves permit. I look forward to talking and learning from you all. Tight Lines!
  11. I went to a seminar hosted by GLF awhile ago and heard of "Dive Bombs" for planer boards. Does anyone know where in the Kalamazoo area I can get these? Also, I have a planer board mast with the double planer boards that came with my boat, but I have never used them. I would like to try them out this year. I see alot you use the walleye boards. Are the walleye boards any better/different??
