  1. yup...another for The Outdoorsman...best selection on quality salmon gear in the Grand Rapids/Jenison area! Bought 2 Talora's and a couple convectors this year...along with other "must have's"
  2. Way to stick with it and keep the skunk away:thumb:
  3. I've got the HDs 5...no complaints. Tracks at planing/high speeds and more functions to dial in than I usually care to mess with! Easily seen in the sunlight too!
  4. That is one big Laker! :thumb:How much did it weigh?
  5. Very nice! I'd LOVE to do that well, let alone on a "mid-day" bite! Beats getting up at 4:30 a.m.!!!
  6. Nice:thumb: Similar depths to what I caught a few out of GH yesterday...wow is that water still cold! Pretty much 45 degree where we were:eek:!!
  7. Got an early start, on the water at 5:45 a.m --pretty lonely out there - no other boats!...started in 80 fow had the first hit while setting the 2nd rigger Went 3-3 15# King Rigger 25' down 80 fow DW High Adventure Hit Man 8# Steelie Orange Moonshine 125 back on braid diver (hit while I was holding it! Third rod getting set up) 8# Coho 1/2 core 100 fow Blue Dolphin Nitro spoon Fished til 9:15 or so, could've quit after 7:15 -- went from 80' to 150' best seemed to be north of the pier, although everyone else was south....didn't mark much other than bait fish!! Thanks to Treblemaker for the advice on colors/depth! Scott
  8. Going out of Grand Haven tomorrow morning....ANY help appreciated as to depth, colors, etc.... Thanks! Scott
  9. I think the one you're referring to is at Chinook Pier where a lot of the charter boats are. I'm pretty sure it's open to the public. I haven't seen one by the main public launch, but it's been a few years since I've been by there as I keep my boat at a marina in GH.
  10. Thanks for the GH report! I'm hoping to get out for the first time this year out of GH, hopefully this week Thurs:)..Finally!
  11. 24 / 28 ? Hey! Save some for the rest of us! What a blast!!!
  12. Nice work Ken! I hate it when work gets in the way of fishing:mad: I'm anxious to get mine ready and have the shakedown cruise too!
  13. Rudey, I fished BJ Manuals for years..I think they came standard with 150 # cable and 150-200' of cable...I don't think I've ever fished Downriggers below 120'. Only time over 20 years I needed to respool was when a rookie was driving the boat and cut the DR line on the i/o...8 lb cannonballs worked fine.
  14. What do you use for storing trolling flys? A few brands come in the tubes, but most of my favorites don't. I keep a few connected to the flasher, but many aren't, and I need to dig them out...any help appreciated.
  15. Great pic Ken:thumb: I felt warm and comfy just looking at it...now if Spring would hurry up....
  16. I had a boat with 2 flush mount rod holders on each gunwale..I had the Berts gimbal mounts. They're drilled to work with about any downrigger, rodholder etc...I had BJ downriggers on each side and double pedestal BJ rod holders in the other 2 gimbal mounts---worked great, on/off in seconds! Hard to find used ones, new they go for around $60 each.
  17. I believe it's in Eau Claire, MI...
  18. I have the X4 (came with the boat). Great unit, easy to read, and found out they have awesome customer service. Had the bracket for the transducer break on the 4th of July (Mon)..sent an e-mail late afternoon, and got a reply back that same day! Three days later the bracket arrived no charge!
  19. Beautiful pic's! Thanks for posting!!
  20. I've always heard it's half way down...if the riggers at 80', the slider would be around 40'
