  1. Thanks for the report! Sounds like a great week of fishing!
  2. the only hooks that seem to be sharp right out of the package are the Big Weenie fly's...I've hooked myself already a few times this year and can vouch for their sharpness! Great advice!
  3. Didn't you lose a 300 copper earlier in the week? Nice fish to go along with the story!
  4. I just began running "meat" this year as a buddy brought a meat-rig along and ran it. Couple of questions: I heard a slow roll is the way to run it, what does that typically mean "speed-wise"? What's the difference in the different types of "meat" as mentioned in an earlier post?
  5. Fished just outside the pier heads out to 55' fow w/ my dad, son, and nephew....saw guys catching fish in the channel on our way out so set up just outside the "pack" and worked north & south.....numbers were good 6/7:D, but all small kings w/2 throw backs. What worked in the cold (42-45 degree water): 5-color core: UV Mixed Veggie SS (2/2) Braid Diver "regular size" : 57-60' back on 3 SS Spoon (not sure of name chrome/blue/black stripe) 2/3 Wire Diver: 30'back Orange MS spoon Walker Mag Diver set on 1.5 (1/1) Braid Diver "regular size": Green MS Flounder Pounder (1/1) Couldn't get a nibble on FF/Plugs/or rigger rods!
  6. I had similar results in close....6/7, but all small kings. I kept thinking I should head out deeper, but didn't Thanks for the report!
  7. Nice fish! I bought my boat from a guy up there ~ beautiful area:thumb:
  8. Speed seems a bit slow to me ~ I've been running 2.8 - 3.2 at the ball...seems when I slow down below 2.5 so does the fishing ~~~ but I'm far from an expert;)
  9. I know, but he's young~ even better when the king pulled the board under for 5 minutes and kept taking line:D
  10. Fished with Zman, father-in-law and nephew (who had never fished before). Expected a little chop, but turned into 3' rollers...plowed into them north, so we could troll with the waves south all night. 3/4 ---- 2 smaller size kings (6# & 10#) and a nice 20.50 # King:D Set up in 95 fow, trolled south...what worked: 300' copper MJ magnum spoon 20.50# King (nephew's first fish ever!) 220' copper Mixed Veggie swing and miss Rigger 66 down Moonshine Green Flounder Pounder 6# king Wire diver 140' back blue SD/blue bubble fly 10# king Fished 90'-110' fow all night.
  11. Wow ~ what a fish! Hope to catch its twin tonight weather permitting.
  12. Nothing wrong going 3/6 in that short of a trip! Well done:thumb:
  13. Not bad at all, but it was kinda cool and damp..a few fleas, but nothing like I experienced in early July.
  14. That's awesome! Just think if you were fishing the "umbrella" rig, or if they were both 20#'s !!!
  15. is there a pic of that tuna anywhere? Seems like more reports of 20# + kings in July than other years...HANG ON !
  16. I was surprised by the lack of boats that were out, although it was a bit foggy, so may have been more than I realized...not much chatter out of GH on the radio though..encouraging to mark as many fish as we did !
  17. Fished w/Ken & Zman last night, finished 6/9... All Kings ~ What worked: Meat rig wire diver 150' back took 3 hits (2/3) Rigger down 47' Lemon Ice spoon 2 hits (1/2) Blue Bubble fly / Spin Dr back 125 1/2 Mixed Veggie braid diver back 90 1/1 Green Dolphin braid diver back 125 1/1 2 kings 6# 3 kings 12# 1 king 16# Fished 90' - 140' Soggy night, but marked a lot of fish, especially in the top 30' but couldn't get the high lines/boards to go.
  18. Great catch! I appreciate the post w/pic's and details! Hopefully stable weather and the larger numbers will continue
  19. I was hoping to go out last night, but kept seeing the whitecaps on the GH web cam and chickened out...looked like it layed down a bit by 7 pm....maybe I didn't miss much?...if the fish stay tight to the pier heads, this weekend will be combat fishing!
