  1. Nice job Capt.Josh, Those Coho are really the steak of the lake. Enjoy!
  2. Great job Terry! After the September we had its about time some one got onto some fish. However we will be pulling the MC2 out of the water today and getti her ready for the Winter. Gotta have her at the Fair grounds for first choice on barn and position, so we can get her out first thing in April. Mike (Supertramp) Boat name MC2
  3. Like GLF trying to figure out when to pull out for the season, If we get out once or twice more would be great if not will be out for sure by the 7th of the month. Everyone have a great Fall Hunting season (sure looking forward to bowhunting) Mike (Supertramp) Boat Name MC2
  4. Will you be fishing on the big Lakes or will you be fishing on the rivers and streams, what type of fish will you be targeting?
  5. Nicely done Kevin. Hope the lake stays fishable for Sat PM and Sunday.
  6. Nicely done Kevin. Always a great day when the daughter is with you.
  7. I second the Sheepshead being nasty, I have tried boiling like in a fish boil, frying and grilling still cant stand the taste.
  8. It generally depends on what water you are fishing and if you are going to fish from the bank or in a boat. The majority of the Kings caught in the rivers are by bank fishermen that target fish on the beds and cast to them and let the line run into thier mouths then hook the fish on the outside of the mouth in the corner of the mouth. The bonus is to go Steelheading and u can troll for them with Hot n Tots or other body baits, using standard spring gear and inline boards to cover water. Troll upstream dead slow and cover the holes. 8 to 10 foot rods 15 to 20# line and let her rip. Other methods are bobber fishing with spawn, drifting spawn on cross current casts and the standard drop back method. Best rigs are just any small 18' or smaller outboard powered fishing boat with appropriate rod holders.
  9. My buddy Roland Eckhart on the Bald Eagle got a couple and they are huge. They are made to be either right or left hand boards depending on how you install the weight and clip. I really believe they are a good answer to the problems smaller boards create when running 450 to 600 ft of copper line. As to letting them slide or not, I always set them so they dont slide then get the board off quickly by pointing the rod at the board not lifting it up until you pick the board off of the water. Then you remove the board and fight your fish. If you let a big board like that slide you are asking for a lot of trouble. I always tighten down the drag to get the board to the back of the boat, remove the board and re set the drag so the fish doesnt pull of or break off the leader. They are kinda pricey, Roland said he had to pay around 49 bucks apiece for them.
  10. :)Jim: I feel your pain got my first ever on the MC2 Sunday. The good thing is its gonna get better as the month of September goes on. Deer huntin starts Thursday the guy that owns the property I hunt says kill some does.
  11. Yep the conditions were tough to say the least, the worst were in the channel and when we got out to 100 FOW, funny how small you feel when the waves are higher than the hardtop on your boat.
  12. Ok I got up at 4:00 am and checked the Marine forecast, didn't look at the date but saw SE to 15 knots and 1 to 3 on the waves so went over to the boat and waited for my crew to show up. The finally arrived @ 6:30 and I had bad news for them the wind was NW @ 20knots + and the lake was 3 to 5'. Everyone said lets go so we set lines in the basin and trolled out to 98 FOW. Waves were in excess of 6 ft there and I had 2 chummers on board, so we turned to go back in and another 1 got sick. Pulled lines with out a release or a tug. The MC2 got the skunkeroo. The 1 good thing is the water is starting to turn over only 64 degrees on the surface outside the channel, and was 66 in the channel. I only saw 2 other boats out on the lake and they followed me out a ways then never saw them again. (WHEN IS THE WIND GONNA STOP BLOWIN) MIKE (SUPERTRAMP)CHAMBERLIN BOAT NAME MC2
  13. Well the MC2 is finally back in business, left the slip @ 6:00 am and set lines in 40 FOW, gave one pass in front of the piers with out marking anything so pulled up and ran out to 95 FOW set the full spread and headed west with the wind at our back. Had a rip on a full core in 120 FOW, Stingray carmel dolphin, and no one home. Finally decided to pull lines in 190 FOW and ended up with 2 fish as we pulled the riggers both deep riggers went 1 at 78' and the other @88' green dolphin DW mag, and Silver Horde pearl glow black ladder back. Ended the day in 4 to 7' rollers with the tops being blown off with 1 king about 4# and a nice steelhead about 5#s. (When is this wind gonna stop blowin). The water was 70 degrees at the piers and 68 degrees in 180 FOW. Hope to get back out Sunday morning.
  14. Gonna get back out on the pond Friday hope that the Michgan side is better than Wisconsin after the blow.
  15. Riggers and dipseys with Silver Hordes and JPlugs on long leads leave the cores and copper home for combat fishing. But early just on the outside edge of the dirty water can be very productive when the Kings are staging. There are already a few fish in the rivers, and a good rain will send them running up to the dams. Sad thing is that with 15 to 20' seas forecast for Friday and Saturday I am staying home. Just a note to guys fishing the Mud, that dark muddy water only goes down a few feet and then clears up once u get out past the main river flow. The muddy water is warmer and goes to the top the lower colder water is clearer. Get your stuff up off the bottom and try to run just below the mud and you can have some real battles in that muddy water. If u ever get a chance to fish the fall in St Joe watch the Silver King, he is the King of the mudline, and has been for over 40 years. Mike (Supertramp) Chamberlin Boat Name MC2.
  16. I have both the Opti clear snubbers and the LJ snubbers and I get more strikes on the clear, but the LJ snubbers seem to have a little less stretch and the hook ups are more solid. The most important thing with snubbers is use them and keep your hooks sharp. When using any flasher or rotator and fly combo go to the tandem single hook setups over the treble hook set up and you will increase your hook to land ratio too.
  17. Jarod: The MC2 will be back in S.Haven Wednesday, plan on fishing Thursday if I can get a crew together call me on channel 68 or 269 9294221. Mike (Supertramp)Chamberlin
