Nick, Just wondering about the dual freq. over the dual beam in less than 50 FOW. Your input is valued since you had both. How does the price sound on this unit? If the dual freq will help any i'll certainly get it. I'm going to do a shakedown cruise on my boat this week come hell or high water. It's getting serious Walleye Whacking time for me. I had a lot of family things going on.

GJ Mike and crew in less than ideal conditions. Far better fishing just before the storms than right after. -

Jon, It will get better. It may have been the storms that shut things down. -
Yep, There is a DNR ramp near the mouth of the Saginaw River. If you use this launch keep the motor trimmed up until your reach the channel. I have launched my boat there several times (not this year) and never had a problem. One nice thing about Linwood Bay Marina is the fish cleaning station. I'm not sure what the rules are for that. I haven't launched there in a couple of years. There are good people running this marina. I think the get a saw buck X to launch.

In addition to my Toughbook Chartplotter I may be adding a refurbished Garmin 340C. I'm leaning towards the Dual Beam transducer, but can get the dual freq. one for $25 more. Most of the times these refurbished items are open box that can't be sold as new. I know the guy that sells them and can return it for another if I don't like it. I seldom fish deeper than 50 ft. I have seen 300 FOW under the Priority1 a few times. The unit with a dual beam should come in for less than $300. DEAL OR NO DEAL???? Would the dual freq benefit me a lot or not?? My LMS 350 Combo will still ride for another year, to glean WPTs. The display was acting up last year. I could get it to correct itself by switching from sonar to plotter. I'll probably sell it next yr as is or for parts. It's like an old friend. It took a licking and is still ticking.

Sound like impeller time. It's good to change them about every three years. It's cheap insurance. A new outboard or power head will really put a hurt on a budget. -
If I were making the trip, I'd opt for Bay City or Linwood. The fishing will be easier and more consistent for someone who is unfamiliar with the bay. There is a lot of unpredictable surprises on the East side of the bay. You will also make better time going to Bay City or Linwood, because both are a stones throw off I75. If you have someone along that is familiar with the Sebawing area, go for it. JMHO:)

Lake Huron is not the same as it was 10 years ago. I quit chasing Kings on Lake Huron and switched to Walleye. When one door closes another one opens. Don't concentrate on what's NOT there. Sure there are a few Kings caught on Lake Huron. Some ports on Lake Huron still have a decent Brown,Steel Head, Walleye, and Lake Trout fishery. A few years back there were a ton of guys bitching about the Huron Fishery, the DNR, etc etc. All ya have to do is evolve. I can get whatever fish I want in less than a 3 hr trip. I get my Walleye fix on Lake Huron. I get my King fix on Lake Michigan. There is no need to think negative. Think positive. We are all so fortunate to have these Great Lakes in our back yards. Gotta Luv all Dem Great Lakes. -

Troy, GJ on your first trip out. I'll second the fuel problems. The alcohol added to the gas is causing plenty of problems on any engines with carburetors. It seems the FI engines are able to handle this crap they sell us. Try some Seafoam in the fuel and it may straighten things out. -
Do NOT under any circumstances use an auto fuel pump on a marine engine. If the bellows fail on a marine fuel pump there is a safety line that prevents fuel from dumping into the bilge. Auto Starters and Alternators should not be used in marine applications. The marine ones have spark arrestors to prevent a possible explosion. I rebuilt my mechanical fuel pump a couple of years ago.

GJ Ed. Nice bird.

The fuel today is tough to digest for carburetor engines. Have the fuel lines been changed recently?? The alcohol in the fuel deteriorates the older fuel hoses. There could be bits and pieces of fuel hose plugging things up. Even if you find a different problem, it would behoove you to change the fuel line. Add some Seafoam to the gas.

WTG Katrina and Mark. At least you were able to make it out there and the King was a bonus. -
Thanks Mike G. for a nice trip aboard the Fish Monster. Mike G. Allen S. and I fished in 22-32 FOW with 22 being the most productive. Bottom Bouncers with crawler harnesses @ 1.3-1.7 MPH. Purple and Chartreuse were best. The walleye ranged from 17-1/2 to 23-1/2 inches. We didn't have a single throw back. We had to work for the fish but it was a beautiful day to spend on the water. The inner bay is the best place to play right now, but the outer bay will keep picking up.
