  1. Went out of the Lagoons this morning. Was supposed to be 4 of us, and 2 called off. Strange weather patterns today. Stated out with haze, then turned to light rain for awhile, then the winds decided they needed to BLOW ! Waves supposed to be 2 feet or less, yeah right ! Strong winds, strong currents. And then the Front moved in. Then the fish Turned OFF. Before all this weather got going, we got 4 very nice walleye and a few perch trolling, using Silver/ Orange harness's. At least we got out, and got a few fish. Don't need to take a limit every time out.
  2. Well my son and I ventured out last evening just to have a look around after the winds and rain we had this week. We marked alot of fish, but few takers. I ran out to 58 fow, on some marks from last week. Setup with small dipsey's, 3.5 185 back and 1 @125 back. I had copper stingers on my side, confusion and chicken wing. Josh had 2 worm harness's out on his side. 1 firetiger and the other copper willow leaf blades with green/white beads. Well, his side took the 3 fish we hooked. The first one was a 3 pounder, then a 6 pounder, then another about the same size that came unhooked at the boat. Had some good quality time with my son in the 1 1/2 hours we were on the water. Was nice with no phone calls etc.
  3. I agree with that. There are gonna be times, when no matter what you do the fish are NOT gonna cooperate!
  4. When I run my dipsey's, I usually run 4 per side. I like to set the farthest out first and work my way back in to the boat. 3.5, 2.5, 1.5 and 0. When I get a fish, they "usually" come in over the top of the others.( Except for "silver bullets" they love to make a mess) When setting a rod back out, I run it down the chute (middle of the boat) to the desired distance, then lock the reel down and set it back in the rod holder. And if you DON'T tangle, at least once in awhile, then you are doing something wrong ! ! ! LOL
  5. Thank You Terry. I use a swivel on the main line, and then attach that to the rubber band, and the hook my leader to that swivel. Maybe it's over kill, but, I hate twisted lines ! lol Here are some pics:
  6. Here are a few pic's of the set up I use: 1) attach rubber band to line. 2)The inexpensive shower curtain holder, these are about $1.99 a dozen, at the Dollar Stores 3)The fancy store bought clips, I added the orange vinyl strips, so I could see them better.
  7. I first found out about this set up from, from our own Capt. Dan "Walleye Express", he was good enough to show me how he made these things, and it's been easy ever since. I have used the Standard and Scorpion size spoons, also others, with this set up and have worked very well for me. I start with any spoon, color and size are your choice, remove the treble hook and add a piece of bead chain, then add a wire harness assembly about 4-6 inches long. I use one hook and then a treble on the end. As for presentation, I fish them behind jet divers and dipsey's here in the central basin. Have also had much success in the Buffalo area, fishing from the Small Boat Harbor.
  8. 7/7/08 Rich and I took my brother out with us today,( came to see me from NY) took him out to 57-60 fow. Ran stinger copper, in standard and scorpion, along with harnesses. Had a great day, ended with the day with a 3 man limit of 18 eyes. This was one trip my brother will never forget. Had 2 fish Ohio's and he got them both ! 7/8/08 We (Rich, Tom and myself) fished the area North of the Lagoons again yesterday afternoon, got out to 50' and there were fish everywhere on the screen! Setup with small dipsey's 1 @115' 2 @ 145' ans 3 @ 210' got 3 nice eyes within 5 minutes. Then nothing except the FLIES ! ! ! They were terrible lol. Finally saw there error in our ways, and headed out to 58' same setup and finished the afternoon with 14 nice eyes, and only 1 was under 4#.
  9. Very Nice catch Doug. I need to get some of those. Got plenty-o-walleye. Come on over, and lets go fishin!!
  10. I am looking for a couple of used camo deer blinds. If anyone has any of these stand up blinds kicking around in the basement or garage and you want to get rid of them, please let me know. The condition doesn't much matter, as I am going to custom make something for my ladder stands.
  11. Got out this morning at 6am, fished 32 fow, with fire tiger harness's. I got 5 really nice eyes, and drooped about a dozen more at the back of the boat. When they made the fast dive! I don't remember ever having walleye's fight this hard. I'm not complaining, this is really a nice change, from reeling in an old log, to actually fighting a fish! ! I need to reset my drags, so that when they are fighting I can stop loosing them !
  12. We went out this morning@ 6am. Weather man called for 2 foot or less NOT ! 3 plus with an occasional 5+ thrown in for kicks and giggles. Got into the eyes in 32 fow on small dipsey's 95 back with the ring, 3.5 setting. and 115 back without the ring. Fire tiger harness was the only thing producing fish. All done and back at the dock by 9:30 am. Not much chatter on the radio, except for where are the fish ? Gonna hit it again in the morning if there are NO storms.
  13. I can definitely relate to that. My boat does not leave the dock, without a cooler full of ice water. And that is MY supply.
  14. Great Job, Dan. Hope you are recovering from the heat ok.
  15. Congrats Rich ! You gonna be an awesome Grandpa ! ! !

  19. Great Job Capitan Dan. You guys have really had a banner year up there thus far.
  20. Ray, I can't believe the difference in the depth the fish are in, between you and I. Must just be the way the thermo-cline is setup.
