  1. Here are a few more I have book marked: http://www.fish4fun.com/snell.htm http://dns.advnet.net/mkg/harness/index.htm http://www.animatedknots.com/
  2. I also run nothing but #12 balls on my Cannon Riggers. Have not had any trouble with them at all.
  3. I am also one of the adventurous ones. Bought an "old" 16' tri-hull, ended up replacing the floor, and the transom on that one. Was quite the job, but we (my son and I) sure made good use of that old boat after we finished it. And the only thing, take your time and enjoy what your doing. For me it was a great feeling to have my son there working with me.
  4. RIk, I fish almost exclusively on the Central Basin for walleye. I run all my rods with #30 power pro, #8 diameter. And target the fish in same depths as you are asking about. Most of the time when they are that deep, I run Dipsey divers with 200'-225' of line out. I am not saying this is the only way to catch them, I am also looking into getting a few rods with copper. Some of the others I know are running wire, they are running it back 400-450' with shallow diving baits. Not sure if it is going deeper at that distance, or just the fact that it's so far away from the boat, but they are catching fish that way and consistently too.
  5. Senate vote on English as Our Official Language Strap on your seat belts boy and girls. TAKE A FEW MOMENTS AND READ THIS LETTER. THESE ARE STRONG, POWERFUL AND COURAGEOUS WORDS COMING FROM A RETIRED COLONEL. **AND READ WHAT LINCOLN HAD TO SAY AT THE END.*** **WOW!** * 33 Senators Voted Against English as America's Official Language on June 6, 2007. On Wed. 6 June 2007 23:35:23 - 0500 Colonel Harry Riley, USA, Ret. Wrote: Senators: Your vote against an amendment to the immigration Bill 1348......to make English America's official language is astounding. On D-Day, no less, when we honor those that sacrificed in order to secure the bedrock, character and principles of America, I can only surmise your vote reflects a loyalty to illegal aliens. I don't much care where you come from. What your religion is. Whether you're black, white, or some other color ......male or female......Democrat, Republican or Independent....... But I do care when you are a United States Senator representing Citizens of America....and Vote against English as the official language of the United States. Your vote reflects Betrayal. Political Surrender. Violates Your Pledge of Allegiance. Dishonors historical principle. Rejects Patriotism. Borders On traitorous action and, in my opinion, makes you unfit to serve as a United States Senator...impeachment... Recall...Or other appropriate action is warranted or worse. Four of you voting against English as America's Official Language are Presidential Candidates: Senator Biden, Senator Clinton, Senator Dodd and Senator Obama. Four Senators vying to lead America, but won't or Don't have the courage to cast a vote in favor of "English" as America's Official Language when 91% of American Citizens want English officially designated as our language. This is the second time in the last several months this list of Senators have disgraced themselves as "political Hacks"... Unworthy as Senators and certainly unqualified to serve as President of the United States. If America is as angry as I am, you will realize a backlash so stunning it will literally "rock you out of your panties"... And preferably totally out of the United States Senate. The entire immigration bill is a farce... Your action only confirms this really isn't about America...it is about self-serving politics...despicable at best. It has been said: "Never Argue with an Idiot...They'll drag you down to their level!" 6. I am still in the process of finishing my rebuild. Got a new head for my old 488. (used a Ford 460 head and milled the water connection in) Finishing a little at a time. Only working one handed since my shoulder surgery, But I have time. hehe Once that one is finished, I have placed a deposit on a 1986 Penn Yan, 26 footer. Gonna do that one, and then sell my 24'. Sure glad I'm not rushed for time. Oh yeah, got my Captains training coming up next month. LOL

  8. From the look of it, you guys had a really good day. And a tasty dinner too !
  9. Update... Well I got a rather unpleasant surprise when we took the engine out, after getting it on the engine stand and removing parts, and once we pulled the head, surprise ! there was a crack in the head above #4 cyl. Well after much thought and debating, I went out and found a mid 70's Lincoln with a good 460 engine in it. After getting this thing home I stripped the heads off found NO cracks ! (yeah !) Now the fun part. I had to mill this head to put a water port into it. Well after some planning and a bunch of rigging on the mill, we have succeeded in putting a water port connection into this thing ! ! ! First of the week it goes the the shop, where it gets resurfaced, pressure tested, and valves, guides, and seals put in. Then hopefully, my gasket sets will be here and it can go back together. I love Merc crusier, just don't much care for there idea's. LOL Anyone need a new head for a 488 ? I just happen to have a spare !
  10. Read and DO NOT forget THEY'LL HAVE TO PRY MINE FROM MY COLD DEAD FINGERS!! A LITTLE GUN HISTORY In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ China established gun control in 1935. >From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated ------------------------------ Guatemala established gun control in 1964. >From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Cambodia established gun control in 1956. >From 1975 to 1977, one million educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated ----------------------------- Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. ------------------------------ It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: List of 7 items: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it. You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson. With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'. During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED! If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.
  11. lol careful there Frank, that baby has a chance of doing a melt down in your case.
  12. Yes sir. That could be a good time! Hey I forgot to tell you, I found 2 heads for my engine. They are going to the shop in the AM to be tested, to make sure there are NO cracks.
  13. Welcome James. Glad to see you like it here. If any questions, ask away. You will find there is no "bashing" or that kind of rude behavior here. The guys and girls here are really the nicest bunch you will find. Enjoy your stay, Bill. (boat name WeekDaze) (aka shu9265)
  14. Guys I know this has nothing to do with Fishing. But, I just wanted to share this and it may even SAVE you some MONEY !! The past 2-3 days my pc has been acting up. By this I mean it was preforming poorly, restating, programs freezing and stopping. I was getting error messages, etc. Even with all this going on, I over looked the basics ! So after spending hours in chat with friends, trying to figure out what was crippling my pc, and running so many scans, I can't count them all I Finally figured out it was an "over heating " problem ! If you look at the back of your computer tower, there is a fan hole there, is it covered in dust? ? Is there dust covering the vents to the power supply ( at the top of the case) ? If so, you need to do some cleaning in order to prevent trouble and save some money on a service call. This is a really easy fix, just remove the 2 thumb screws from one side of your case, slide or remove the side of the case. First Turn the power OFF ! ! Now that the power is off, get the vacuum cleaner out, and bring the little round hairy brush. That will remove the junk without hurting anything inside. Clean off all the dust and junk that are hanging on to things in there. Make sure you do the power supply at the top of the case. (box with all the wires coming out) Now you will see a square about 2" X 2" that's your CPU or computers brains. There is a small fan on top, make sure you clean that puppy out ! ! Over on the side, you can see some long ( about 6") sticks. that's the memory. get any dust off there too. Now, if you have done the above, and cleaned out the dust, hair, etc. Put you case back on and you should be good to go. And Hopefully, you just made you PC happy and saved yourself about $100. Hope this helps, shu.
  15. Yes. Rich, that would have been my Dad. I was only 4-5 at the time, and he was a commercial turtle catcher back then. Snapping turtles, BIG ONES ! He used to supply alot of restaurants around the area back then. I can remember some of those turtles looked big as a car. LOL When he would have them at home, would put them on those old square wash tubs upside down, so the couldn't crawl off, always tellin me to stay back! I sure do miss being a kid!
  16. I can totally relate to these statements. I can meet someone today, and can't remember there name the next time I see them. I don't get a chance to meet many of you guys there in the West (Michigan) as I do most of my fishing here around Cleveland. But, if you ever come this way, look me up. After we meet, and fish together, I may call you something other than your given name, but, I will call you anything but, late for dinner! lol And my name is Bill.
  17. Welcome. Great Pictures ! Awesome view ! ! !
  18. Travis, Welcome to the site. I think you will find this is one of the best group of peeps on the net. They have the knowledge and are willing to share it too !
  19. I always use the lightest bands I can find. The (most) tackle shops sell small bags of Red rubber bands. Usually around $2.00 per bag. And enough for a lot of fishing. But, I go to staples or someplace and look for the lightest weight they have. Thin ones are best. I have found that most walleye here in the Central Basin of Lake Erie, will break the bands, but, as with all fish, some will take the bait and just go along for the ride. I will see if I can find the bag I got last summer and let you now what the weight is on them. Bill.
  20. I usually run the size "0" on my big boards, all at the same setting. "0" setting back say 125' and try to keep them spaced about 25 feet apart. This way I can saturate an area of fish with the spoon color they want and keep the presentation all in the same area. I also, use rubber bands on the releases as the divers are adding quite a bit of drag to the lines. You can run them at different depth settings, but it's alot more work to rest them if only one fires. Then if it's the outside diver, you need to pull the rest of the spread and reset it all over again.
  21. Hello Everyone, As most of you know, I am getting my Charter Captains Lic. I am going to be honest about this, I can catch fish, and I can deal with people. BUT, I need help. I need to put together a business plan, so that I have some guide lines which I can follow. Am hoping that some of you experienced captains, will share some of your vast knowledge with me. If anyone can add any useful info for me it will be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance, Bill.
  22. Yeah. shame too. I was ready to drive over and pick it up when I was fishing the Niagara River.
  23. That was awesome ! Thought he was gonna eat the camera too.. Thanks for sharing that with us.
