  1. Yeah that is kind of how I'm feeling.... do we really have a choice? I'm not a big fan of change on forums because members get very accustomed to a look/feel to the site. If we do go forward with the upgrade, hopefully it will be the last upgrade the site would need for many more years ahead. Thanks for the feedback!
  2. Hahaha will do!
  3. Thanks for the feedback Ed - Hope you and the family had a great Thanksgiving as well. My wife Katherine and I recently celebrated the birth of our 2nd daughter (Caroline) so I am out numbered now 3 girls to 1 guy in my household... times are busy to say the least but it makes the holidays fun
  4. Hi guys - First off, Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you had some quality time off with family and friends. I wanted to get your thoughts on the idea of investing in an upgrade to the site in terms of core forum software. I'm thinking over the holidays here of putting in some time and monetary resources to upgrade the site to a more modern, stable forum software. This upgrade I also feel would help with overall site participation (per our other topic discussion). We are currently running version 3.X of vBulletin and it is very old and outdated to say the least. VB has officially announced that they will stop all support for this version of software (which scares me a little). My estimates would be about 80-100 hours of work to design/code, test and implement the upgrade. If we think this is something that we would like to move forward with then I'd like to get started soon while the site traffic is typically the lowest during the off-season. What do you guys think of this? Good idea/bad idea? Thanks in advance! Chad

    Nice Ed! Beauty!
  13. Haha - geezzz... I don't think I have ever seen forecasts for 23ft waves on the great lakes before.
  14. Welcome to the site NS! Glad to have you. Lots of great guys here.
  15. Hi Chev - glad we could help! Only moderators have rights to delete posts entirely. Thanks again!
  16. Yup - you were right Ryan. Setting was set to 15 minutes. That explains why I was able to edit the post right away using demo account. I have adjusted that setting so you should be all set now. Thanks again for bringing that to our attention!! Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm heading up to Canada this weekend to do some musky fishing - can't wait!! Kind regards, Chad
  17. Just so I understand... the edit button is there initially and then disappears on you after 15 minutes? That is a strange issue I've never seen before. What browser you using? Maybe I can try and replicate it here.
  18. Ryan - Ed and Ken are right - all members can edit posts anytime they wish. Simply hit the edit button under the post after logging in. I just tested it for you using basic user account and it worked fine. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Chad
  19. Wow... that is crazy Ed!
  20. Nice report Frank! Great job out there
  21. Hi UBDSLO1 - That's a good idea. Currently when you log into the site, you can see the weather forecast for your area on the right hand side of the homepage. This is powered by Accuweather but doesn't give you live wave reports. It does give you wind reports broken down hourly. Getting wave reports is a little more tricky to tie directly into the website. Here is the link I personally use though: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/zone/gtlakes/glcstmz.htm Simply click on your area and it should give you the wave forecast. Hope this helps Chad
  22. Mike / Ryan - That is an issue with the auto-FB posts. The user doesn't get an email when someone replies (like they normally would). That is something we are looking into to try and fix but just wanted to let you know that we are aware of that issue. Thanks again guys! Chad
