  1. Fished from 9-11:30. Late start, went 1/1 today, 6.8# laketrout, on Craigs flounder std, with 7c, in 85 fow, no other bites. Fished from front of piers to 105 fow. Marked a lot at pier heads, but no takers. Nice to get out after all this bad weather. I followed a mile long scum line, weaving in a out. Fish were from the surface to 45 down the entire length. When i caught the LT, I saw my board trailing the boat sideways( broadbeam) but not releasing and then it just stopped acting like a snow plow. I pulled in the board and didn't really feel anything. After cranking in alot more I finally got some pull back. I hooked him well. Once on board he beat himself up in the cooler. The currents were crossing each other effecting my trolling speed alot. I went from 2.5 to 3.0 to 1.7 many times todays. Wind picked up as I was leaving. Not to many days left now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App

  6. I remember. You did well. Rough day out there. I gave my fish eggs to one of the guys there. They were quite large. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  7. When I looked back and saw my rod tip go up, I noticed my line wasn't behind the boat but far to the outside of my 230 cu. So I carefully maneuvered the fish under the cu rod line which was further back. The fish still caught half of the copper line and I had a little bit of a tangle in my net which I cleared once I got the fish on board. The hook fell out of her mouth when she hit the deck. When I netted the fish I used the transom as a fulcrum for balance until I could get better handle on it to pull the fish in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  8. Normally I don't fish the weekends and I knew the wind was going to produce a 3 ft chop by just reading the bouy information. So like any good fisherman would say, the weather is "perfect." GOT TO GO! I put my order in for a large king to be picked up at 8:55 am in 99 fow. Promptly launched my boat headed out and picked it up at the Lake Michigan drive thru window. One 23lb-6oz 37" long king (personal solo best) on Craig's flounder, 50ft down, 60 ft back on rigger, east troll, 2.5sog, ball temp 48, surface temp 68. 1 for 1. The waves were quite choppy. But I left a tip. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  9. Nice birthday present. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  10. Great catch! Were the hits mostly on riggers? Divers? Planar board lines? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  11. 2 for 3, 10.3# king, 11.9# steelhead. Fished 140-200. Rigger with yellow submarine Mag spoon, bk 60, down 60, east troll, 2.4 sog in 145 fow took king. Ball temp 49.9. 270 cu with dragon slayer SD and blue green fly ( homemade-called salmon treat) took steelie in 172 fow. Lost big one on rigger, taking my 2 spoons and bending rod holder to 40 degree angle. Guess I'll be tightening some bolts. Beautiful sunset. Hosted member Irn, had a good time. 12. Nice catch Scott, especially under the conditions. Hopefully the forecast won't be so far off next time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  13. Terrible 3 foot chop on the lake, made fishing very difficult. Fished 180-220. 2 for 2, 2 steelhead, 8.2# and 9.18#, both caught on riggers, 40-50 ft down in 194 & 200 fow, at 7:30am and 7:43am, nw troll 2.4 sog, ball temp 47-48.1. One on blue jackal 70 back other on moonshine moonshine 60 back. Found them in a column of 3 degree water temp change down 50ft. It was almost like a tornado funnel of temperature. 14. Original yellow submarine. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  15. I had a great time out there today. The original moonshine spoon is called the "Yellow Submarine" and glows green. Another version is the "Blue Jackal" glows blue. If you have one that looks like a two tone it is a "Moonshine Moonshine". Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App

  20. Not much happening with this very cold water everywhere. Fish are really scattered. Tuesday : I took my "Littleboat" and hugged the shoreline and piersheads out to about 50 fow Tuesday. I ran thru bait ball after bait ball trying to trick anything to bite but no luck. Finally I headed back and picked up a 19" walleye on my way in. Wednesday : Fished 80-120 fow, picked up 4.18# laketrout in 108fow on a screwball spoon used as a slider down 50ft. Water was very cold still no matter where you went. Fish must be on the other side of the lake. Marked only laketrout very close to bottom, but very few. More bait balls were close to shore, but no bite action. Others got just one fish or none. Difficult to find the hungry ones. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  21. It was a beautiful day out there for sure. The bugs started to show up late morning. Nice fish! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  22. 2 for 3, both laketrout, 4# and 6#. Lost another fish (?) 65 ft down in 125fow. Fished 115-140 with a few marks. Lake was flat. Both fish came on a 8" flasher "Hawg wild" with a home made fly "Irish shallow". Lost fish was on a 250 cu with blue holo dolphin mag. Both laketrout came on north troll 2.3-2.5 sog with rigger just off bottom in a 120-122 fow at 7:56am and 8:52 am. Village joined me today. 23. Good to know about other unusual catches. When I filleted the fish all of the meat looked very good. Thanks Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  24. I was extremely happy getting that rod and lure setup back. I was already calculating what the loss cost me $$$ and had resigned myself to the fact sh*t happens. When it came time to pull up my rigger I was in disbelief (jumped about 3 ft in the air) when I saw the green fly treble hanging on to the rigger cable just above the release. The rod had not released its line during this whole episode. I carefully inched the cable up and grabbed the connection at the SD and rod tip, doing a hand over hand vertical lift until I got the rod out of the water. It was probably a good thing that no fish took the bait during that whole time. I did send the pictures to the dnr office listed on their fishery division with my cell number. 25. I'm going send a picture to the dnr, once I figure out which area should get it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
