  1. Great catch sounded like a good evening. Must have landed on pod in your major hookup.
  2. What a wild ride! Good fishing though. Congrats.! Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  3. Very nice fish! You must get up earlier then the chickens. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  4. Nice fish just in the nick of time! Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  5. Night bite is the best! What was the weight of the biggest fish you caught? Did the bugs take the night off?
  6. Tough to get the big ones, still good eaters. No flies biting last night?
  7. I one I caught today had a very nice dark red color to the meat. So I know it will have a nice taste to it. But I understand what you are saying with the two different colors and textures.
  8. Fished 6:30am-9:30, 80-120fow, finally got out. Alot of boats out. Lost an hour recalibrating my autopilot. Not alot of big fish marks, mostly little guys. Flat calm though. But the flys were ugly, biting badly. Went 1 for 3, one fly by, one lost when it jumped the hook by my outdrive. The only fish I was able to get on board (Steelhead) came at 8:36am, on a watermelon std moonshine spoon, off a rigger slider. trolling N @3.0 mph, 53 dwn in 109fow. Small steelie 6#-1oz Not much of a day. I HATE those files!
  9. Alot of light bites today. Unfortunate about the net. Good try though. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  10. Nice crop of fish in this crazy weather pattern. The crew looks pretty happy. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  11. Nice looking fish. Never give up! You, Janet and endurance were great fishing partners. A nice cookout. Hopefully this is the start of what we have been waiting for. Congratulations! Lots of alewives in fish?
  12. One thing I noticed about the ninja diver. I have to deploy it a little more carefully because it slipped out of the hooking trigger mechanism easily.
  13. That's one lure I always keep a spare as you suggest. I had the ninja set too light, so I snugged it up a little. Waiting to see what size fish triggers it. I use one of those sea fleas tools to get them off the line. But you got to watch your line so you don't nick it. Even with that it still takes a little time trying clear the fleas to change lures.
  14. Fished 5:30-10am, stayed just inside of 80fow, 2 for 2, king 13.6# and a coho 6.2#. Both full of alewives and eggs. Ran drs,150,170, 210 coppers and new ninja 124 diver. 1- King, 13.6#, hulk mag spn, DR ball depth 46ft, W trl, 2.4 sog, ball temp 55.4 , 78.4 fow(6:15am) 2-Coho, 6.2#, 5 eye std on slider, DR ball depth 46ft, N trl, 2.6sog , ball temp 52.7, 67.6 fow (7:22am) Lost my hulk mag when swivel broke off at slider Lots of sea fleas, sliders got stuck in fleas, 1-3 ft waves, surf temp 63, wind 10-19mph up and down alot. Very strong currents today, notice the SURFACE speed vs the PROBE speed on the display. Fishhawk really helped BIG difference between surface currents and ball speeds. I was by myself until the 1st fish and then every boat that passed me on there way out came back to keep me company. Normally I don't fish the weekends. But I've been sitting on land to long. Wrist is getting better, but still weak.
  15. Well stored for a 2 piece rod folded up. Different situation for me. My rods are full length. I just roll the diver one turn under the mainline that has the snap-swivel attached to a hook holder near the reel. Weather might break hoping to get out.
  16. Glad we are comparing feedback. Fishing solo all the time I need to keep the tackle close to me for operational purposes. Wear, grooving, nicks and performance are all items I follow very closely.
  17. I picked one up about a week ago. Anxious to try it out. A couple of items stuck out to me right away. 1- Wear on the cap that holds the line and replacing it. 2- If I leave the hooked (clear part) loose and a rod reel etc catches it would it break at the hinges? I lay my rods in my gunnels when I go down the highway. 3- How sensitive it is to adjustments also, I've seen marks on the mono ( I've set this 1st one to use per the instructions) where it was set. I normally get rid of all the micro swivels and tie double uni-knots so I don't damage my rod eyelets with burrs from the swivels, run braid to the front of the diver (I don't like gripping on the braid but that might change with what zgrinder experiences) and run a 25ft (25#) fluorocarbon lead ( which I adjust for the lead length I want) to my lure snap-swivel which has a bead a foot in front of it. That way I can crank my fish right to the boat stern where I can net it by myself. (The 25# fluorocarbon hasn't been a issue for fish up to 27# so far.) Not that I have that problem lately.
  18. I hadn't been out for awhile because of the weather that we had also. So, to entertain myself I started clearing some bushes and miscellaneous weeds to get something done during this terrible weather cycle. I woke up the next morning with my right wrist swollen up 4 sizes and tremendous pain. Evidently, something punctured my glove and it wasn't a FISH HOOK! I couldn't even move my wrist, so off to the doctor I went. I've been out of commission for over a week. I feel like a one arm bandit. It will be at least another week before I can probably launch my boat by myself. The antibiotics are finally start to improve my situation, now if the fish would do the same thing. No good deed goes unpunished.
  19. Always nice to get a Father's day fish! This crazy weather really pushed the thermocline down. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  20. I'm surprised the night bite didn't produce better. It looks like a long fishing season until something changes. Good luck to all of us, we'll need it. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  21. Good eater! Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app

  23. I always love a surprise hookup. It would have been a real bonus Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  24. This has been one of the toughest start early springs that I can remember. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  25. Fished 6:30-11am. 125-210fow. Took the Littleboat(16-1/2') on shakedown cruise to try and rustle some bigger fish. Went 3/4. Caught a 6# steelhead, 5.77# king on a double hit. I had to let second one hang until I could clear deck. Got a dink later which I threw back. Lots of marks in upper 70 feet, some were big. I hoped I could pull one in. But it was not to happen. Beautiful day, flat water and enough wind to keep the flys off. Came back to Holland to clean the fish. 1-steelhead, 6#, 150 cu, 5 eyes rv std, nw trl, 3.0 sog, 143fow (8:51am) 2-king, 5.77#, dancing anchovie std slider on DR bk 60, down 54, nw trl. 3.0sog, 143fow (8:51am) Dink came on DR at (10:12am) tossed.
