  1. I've never had a problem with either the Cannon or the Klincher terminators or the swivels that come with them. Only time I've lost a probe is when I've done something stupid like forget to bring it up before heading back to pier heads. I've even sent the probe down forgetting to close the snap and brought it back up.
  2. I had similar results in a bit deeper water. 1 for 1 on white Spindoctor green fly in 75-120 fow on dipsy 75 back. I think the front going through yesterday morning put them off their feed. We had fair marks in 85 fow but just couldn't get anything to go
  3. Just a shout out to say thanks to Dan from Goldcoast Outfitters who brought the above mentioned planer board back to my office today. Makes me glad I spent money at his store this past weekend.
  4. x4 probe works just fine with the older 840 unit. Don't know about the batteries in the older probe though.
  5. Yes it would be nice to see the chart, but from other similar charts I have seen, they are usually off a bit.
  6. I didn't get to see a lot of boxes, but most weighed their 5 fish. Winning box was ~ 62 lbs. One box was 2.5 lbs. Eventually most of the results should be posted on the Holland Steelheaders website.
  7. I had a great time at the Steelheaders Challenge Tournament this morning, despite a relative lack of success with the fishing. Thanks to all the sponsors who made it possible. Took 3 hits on 3 color early in 70 fow. Lost the first two and after the third hit not only lost the fish but the 3 color, the DW UV Jagerbomb, and the planer board. Had a bit of a lull but around 10:30 began taking and keeping a few more fish. Lake trout on rigger 50 down in 77 fow on mag Lemonberry. King on dipsey with UV spindoctor with Big Weenie Last Brunch fly back 90' and set on 3 in 80 fow. Last fish was a King on 7 color with DW UV Wonderbread spoon in 85 fow. Had hits trolling south, north and west and they seemed to like it slower today 1.9 - 2.3 at the ball. Water temps in that area 44 - 42 on the surface and pretty much a uniform 42 degrees 50 feet down.
  8. Glad I could help out. Lets just hope the blow today doesn't change things up for the weekend.
  9. Looks like it may be time to start moving out a bit. Saw the water at the buoy had warmed up to 40+ degrees top to bottom, so decided to head out a bit. Made it to 120 fow with no marks and decided to turn around when surface temp finally dropped to 41 degrees. Set lines in 100 fow and began trolling SE. Had some isolated marks on the bottom in 85 fow but nothing impressive. Turned south when finally made it to 15 fow and fished 15-20 fow until Saugatuck. Picked up a coho shaker on 3 color on the turn in the plume. Frustrated by lack of success in skinny water my 3 trips so far this year, I changed over to more of a king program and began trolling NW. Wound up with 3 more kings 5,8, and 8 lbs on 3 hits trolling 80-85 fow back to Holland. Speed at the ball was 2.5 - 2.7. Temp in that range was 44 up top and 42 degrees 75 feet down. Braid dipsey on 3 105 back with DW Alygator spoon. Rigger 45 down with mag Moonshine Agent Orange. Rigger 40 down with pink/light blue holo spoon that I've forgotten the name.
  10. Mom loves to go fishing, but with bad luck this morning I think I'll wait a few days.
  11. Similar results for me today as well. Fished 10-15 fow from Holland pierheads to Saugatuck. Took 2 throwback coho on the turn in the plume. Both came on 3 color with Dreamweaver Alygator spoon. Fished 20-30 fow on way back to Holland with no takers.
  12. Out that deep water was probably still in high 30's, but you never can tell without fishing it sometimes. That's why bad reports are just as valuable as good ones, so thanks for checking that water and thanks for posting.
  13. Data looks great though implications for fishing leave something to be desired in terms of temps.
  14. Data on the actual site now, temp waves, looks like everything.
  15. FYI, Looks like the wave buoy is operational once again
  16. Fished the WMFL for the first time with Gnarf and his friend Nick, thanks to both for their help and Blood Run Tackle for sponsoring. Finished 2 for 4 with an 11.8 lb king and a laker of questionable size that was returned to the lake. Set lines in rough seas at 6:45 and had first hit at 7:10 and first loss at 7:10 and 15 sec. on a flat line with a 20 year old rainbow trout looking Rapala. Price on the box it came from was $4.94. I'm not usually out this early in the season and had no stick baits on board so busted out some old pike lures from way back. Next hit came on a rigger 15 down in 20 fow on a Lemonberry spoon which was the king. Finally turned around at Saugatuck pierheads and lost one on a 2 in orange/gold Rapala on a flat line. Turned back around at south end of sliders and took the laker on the rainbow Rapala. I think the hooks on the Rapala's may have been a bit small for the bigger fish. Sun came out and the waves settled down just when it was time to pull lines. Had a great time with some new people and hope to do it again in the future.
  17. Hey, what's the deal dropping me from the list? Afraid no one'll show if they see I'm out there?
  18. Is that a fly rod I see in the first pic? Were you casting with it or trolling or did you just bring it along for luck?
  19. Looks like I got a crew. Add Doctor Hook to the list.
  20. Someone's gotta have a Barracuda pic to post on a fishing site.
  21. Looks a beaut. Gotta love that bow mounted mini-crane.
