  1. Way to go, congratulations!
  2. Very nice, congratulations!
  3. Nice job and good run down for the boat, plenty of time to get her just right for prime time.
  4. If you guys ever visit Ludington this summer, we'll have to get together and fire up the grill. That brown was bigger than I thought, put a scale on him and he went 8lb 3oz's. Yeah that!
  5. Eric, Yes, I got rid of my camping trailer and my seasonal at Cartier and bought a place in Tamarac. It has a heck of a lot more room. The time spent now making some improvements will be well worth it all summer.
  6. I'm late getting my boat out this spring due to some chores at my new place in Ludington. Got out to the beach early this morning for a couple of hours to fish, had it all to myself. Had one bite early but didn't hook up. About an hour later, fish on! This one went about 5 lbs. The fish came on spawn bags. That was it for the morning and back to chores but at least I got to bend a rod this weekend. Saw a couple boats box some fish in close in front of me. Lot's of room out there on the beach, good luck!
  7. Some of you might find this interested even though it's not fishing related. A pair of peregrine falcons are nesting on the Jackson County Tower building. They have laid 3 eggs. Here is a webcam to watch their nest. http://96.61.192.55:8888/update.html
  8. We got 4 browns to day soaking spawn. This was the biggest of the day. We were pulling rods and down to the last one when this brown hit.
  9. Used it last year and really like it. It is superior to regular copper but you still have to be careful when deploying it. It spools up easy. I'm sold on it and will be changing over all my copper rods to it as needed.

    Boats In

Looks like your the first boat in the marina, good luck on your first trip out.
  11. There are 2 of them dang things when you come from the east. I'm glad you got some work out of the deal but that is one major waste of taxpayer dollars if you ask me. Here's a tip if you come from the east-You can turn left at the BBQ shack and avoid one of them when going to the DNR launch.
  12. An early start and a great catch, well done indeed.
  13. Nice job, that's a very nice catch, even more so considering the brown fishing the last few years.
  14. Good luck Phishtix. Did you notice the unsubsribed hunt period with leftovers in our neck of the woods. That has been my go to can't fail backup pick every year. Got the 2nd hunt this year! The 4th hunt was great last year for my buddy. Lot's of hot gobbling action too.
  15. https://secure1.state.mi.us/rssdraw/ I got mine!
  16. I use 9 ft blue diamond rods for copper. They have one roller by the reel and then metal eyes for the rest of the rod. It has a twili tip. I've never had a problem with them, they get heavy use. I run them off walleye boards to get them away from the back of the boat.I use 50lb power pro for backing. I like to rig all my long lines with the backing being the heaviest strength, the the copper or core with lighter breaking strength and then a lighter leader. If anything breaks, it is usually the leader. You would hate to have the backing break and lose everything. One tip when running copper, always keep some tension on it when letting it out. If you free spool it, it can tangle easily.
  17. I replaced it on one rod last year and liked it. As the other rods need replacement, as the tangles go, I'll be switching over all to it.
  18. Looks like some great fishing, nice job!
  19. Here is a link to the manufacturer, trying contacting them for an owners manual. http://www.benmarmarine.com/
  20. Sounds delicious. It's has been many years since I've had a fresh smelt dinner. We used to go to Pt Pelee every spring until they shut the park down for fishing.
  21. Very nice, steelies are just one all around awesome fish all year long!
  22. Great catch!
  23. That's a nice pup. I see lots of good memories to be made.
  24. Matt, they have been catching salmon for 2 years now. They love it on the boat.
  25. Awesome, congratulations!
