  1. I use the the regular klinchers, just wondered if you could buy them like that for a probe or have to modify one. Thanks for the info on how to modify it. I'll get my hacksaw out and go to work.
  2. Is the pic the Klincher mentioned? Where can you buy them or did you rig that yourself?
  3. Nice catch! Good luck on the repairs.
  4. We fished back by the Sister Islands yesterday and had a slow pick. Three of us got 10 walleye. Most came on spoons, a chrome watermelon scorpion was the best. We also took a some on blue and chrome and perch hot 'n' tots run off a half core and off riggers 20 ft down. We fished in 31 feet of water between the sputnick and middle sister island. I was hoping the fish would come back in to Mi waters with the marfly hatch but there wasn't much activity inside by other boats. The graph never looked good to me in a few places we stopped on the way out. I know I'm looking forward to blue water on the west side of the state in a couple weeks. Good luck!
  5. Sounds like a great trip, nice pics too!
  6. We run stinger scorpions, mini streaks and mini yeks and moonshine also makes a small walleye spoon. 2mph hr or a bit slower when the water is cool and 2.5mph when it starts to warm up. I don't think they have good action at crawler harness speeds. We also will hit a fish now and then on regular size stingers and DW SS spoons. Those bigger spoons will work good off divers and riggers.
  7. No issues here.
  8. Had a nice long weekend on Lk. Erie. The Detroit Beach Boat club were great hosts, that is one nice facility and marina. Fishing was great, we pulled 3 man Ohio limits on Friday and Saturday and two of us pulled 10 on short trip Sunday. The best fishing is in Ohio waters right now and we fished from the Sputnik out to W Sister Island. It is a tough bite in Michigan waters from the boats we spoke with. We fished stinger scorpion, mini streaks and moonshine spoons behind diver disks and off the down riggers. We ran leads from 90 to 110 feet off the boards with riggers on the bottom. The best spoon of the weekend was a streak scarlet fever with a chartruse backed blueberry muffin a close 2nd. There were more fish closer to the island than to the sputnik. Here's a full box from Friday: There is a nice sized year class we are fishing and there are lots of 14-1/2 inch throw backs for next year. We fished a steelheaders tourney Saturday. Many brought in limits. We finished 5th about 2 pounds out of first. Here are the top 10 from our box we weighed for that. My buddy Milt has been one of my fishing mentors going back a lot of years. It was nice to have him on board. He does a great job zippering walleye fillets to remove the pin bones. I cut em and he zips them to make short work of our catch. Steve caught a small muskie too that we released. We also hit and lost a steelie. It was a great weekend, the frying pan was sizzling tonight. Good luck!
  9. Tom, I probably won't be on the water in the afternoon but call my cell and I'll let you know what happened and where from the morning.
  10. I'll have my boat there from Thursday to Sunday this weekend fishing Erie. DBBC is on the Sterling channel. If anyone is fishing this weekend and wants to work together to round them up, let me know. I'm starting Thursday AM.
  11. No pics Mike, there is a cleaning station at the marina and I forgot my camera and cut them up there. The size was better than Saturday, nothing under 17 inches up to 23 inches.
  12. Check this post out from another site and the pics of the poacher. If you can ID this scumbag who poached this sturgeon, please call the MI DNR. http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289249&page=3 The pics are on page 3. Thought I'd put this up here to get as much attention as possible.
  13. Nice start Matt! Tell your grandpa I said hi. I'll bring my boat up around the 4the July so I'll see you then.
  14. Nice catch Eric! Hey, I watched the Wings and got up at 4:00AM too. It was two days in a row for me except that I just stayed up late on Friday, no Wings game, just beer. I slept like a log last night.
  15. Dan, I didn't know there was a tow service in Ludington, do you have a phone number so I can put in my cell phone? I would never sue anyone for helping me so don't be afraid to help me out of Ludville if we are in nearby waters. You can always count on a tow from me if you need one;) I've towed in a 3 boats and been towed in once in mine. The boat that towed me in at Pentwater wouldn't take any money for gas so I threw them a bag with a couple of my hottest spin doctors and flies from that day of fishing. I appreciated it! I'm not overly worried about getting sued, I know it could happen but I'd still help. Now that you mention this, I might ask the folks if they won't sue me in the event of a problem and that they accept liablilities for me towing them in. I'd at least get a verbal from them, with my crew as witnesses.
  16. Fished on a buddy's boat out of Luna Pier. We started in 24 ft of water as we did the day before but it was real muddy in there. It was muddy all along the south shore. We moved out NE to 26-27 ft off water, north of the sputnik and finished our limit there. We only ran spoons, off diver disks on the boards 96 to 102ft back. Divers on 3 out 60 ft and riggers on the bottom. Blueberry muffin was the hottest spoon of the day. Ended up with 5 of them in the water. Good luck!
  17. Here's some pics:
  18. My buddy and I fished out of Bolles Harbor today. We caught 15 walleyes and kept 10. We fished on and over the Ohio line from 24 to 26 feet of water. Our fish came on spoons and diver disks on 85 and 90 foot leads. Moonshine and dreamweaver spoons, copper backed. We also took some nice fish on a gold and blk thunderstick and hot'n'tot. Those were on 100 ft leads. Good luck!
  19. I'll 2nd canning the core down the shoot, put them all on boards, you'll have less trouble. Put your shortest core on the outside and longest cores on the inside. We run 3 to a side all time. When running spinner's on cores, it's a good idea to add an extra ball bearing swivel in front of your spin doctor. That will prevent line twist from wiping out your core.
  20. I've always known that as a Willis Knot. I did a google search too to see if I could find an illustration. Look what I found via google, right back to this site. It's an old post but a good one, more than just knots: http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451
  21. They are city owned launches and not all that great. Parking stinks at the downtown launch.
  22. Right on, some days they bite good and suck your lure in deep and some days they just slap at them.
  23. Some great memories there!
  24. That's an awesome trip with your sons!
