  1. What does that look like? Can't find it on their website.
  2. Is 30lb power pro sufficient enough for backing on coppers and cores or should i move up to 50lb?
  3. The best way to learn is to go with as many experienced fisherman as possible. The other thing that could possibly be a factor could be the boat traffic. I didn't fish out of port sheldon yesterday but there were close to if not more than 75 boats out of muskegon all inside of 40-60ft. That will shut the fish right down. Alot of boats did ok landing a few fish, but the guys who took double digits were outside the pack in 70fow or 120-140fow.
  4. Those are some nice fish! Those would look pretty good on my wall!
  5. Started in 50 fow and had all 8 rods set before taking the first fish. First fish came at bout 6:30 on a 11inch white paddle and a Pickled Mirage fly 100 back on a dipsy. 19lb king. Next came on 150' copper that had a flounder pounder, that was a 14lb king. Then went dry for a while taking a few hits but no fish. Moved out to 90-120 and took another nice rip on the bloody nose, peeled 100ft of line and was gone. That was 28 down. Third fish came in 120fow on 200ft of copper with a mountain dew spindoctor and mountain dew glow fly, another nice 14lb king. Last fish came picking up lines on 100ft of copper with a small orange spoon, 4lb king in 120fow. Ended up 4 for 6.
  6. It seems that nearly every time out we consistantly catch fish on for the most part one bait, double trouble. Trying to contemplate the beginning spread for the Saturday AM trip, and right now, fishing 9 rods, have 3 Double Trouble on. One on a rigger, a 150ft of copper, and another on a dipsy. Whats your opinions on this? Would it better my odds to run other baits that haven't got the same water time to throw more of a variety out, or would you load up on the tried and true? Fishing out of Muskegon by the way.
  7. Iive seen a few posts using terms like the 7's, 8's and 10's for where they caught their fish. How can you interpret that for those of us who fish out of the same ports every weekend and fish related to depth?
  8. 200ft of 45lb copper has taken fish for us every time out this year. And 150ft of 45lb copper was just as good.
  9. Where are you getting your blood run spinnies? Those look really good but can't find them anywhere.
  10. Sometimes you get the fish, sometimes the fish get you. It seems like theres a few reports on here now though that hook up ratios haven't been so great. Fish could be just slappin at baits. We were out Thursday night and lost the first 4 hits, missed a few more throughout the night, but finally managed to put some in the boat. 8 of our 9 fish came unhooked in the net, only took the pliers out once. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Got the boat back out again. Fished 55-75 fow. Set lines by 6:30 and missed the first 3 hits. Not a good way to start. Starting hookin up though. Lots and lots of steelhead. Lost 4 at least and caught 5. Ended up 9 for 13 throwing back a small king. Heres what worked: Miami Dolphin Super Slim 100 back on a #3 setting dipsy (0-2) Carmel Dolphin 120 back on a #3 setting dipsy (1-1) Double Trouble on any rig you put it on above 42 feet (3-3) Glo Green Alwife on a slider (probably 20 down) (4-?) Clown down 52 feet(1-1) Steelies were jumpin and the kings were screamin lines. Great evening on the water. Gotta love the sunset too.
  12. Whats your lead length from dipsy to flasher for that Matt?
  13. Anyone run 11" Paddles behind dipsies with any success? I've heard that they're to big to run behind dispies and with such a wide range of motion could cause problems. Any input? Flyboy
  14. Made it out for only the fourth trip of the year (man work sucks) Based on a few reports yesterday we decided to fish 40-60 fow. Set lines by 5:45 and fished the area till about 7:30 and could not buy a hit. Started moving out and took a 12 lb king on a Flounder Pounder, 150ft of copper. Not to long after in 100 feet or so picked up a real nice steelie on a Double orange crush on 100ft of copper, man did he put on a show, awesome to watch. Then had a real nice hit off the dipsy, fought the fish for a minute, which consisted of the fish peeling over a hundred feet of line and it came unbuttoned. That came on a Double Trouble, 150 back at about 9:00. Picked up a small king in 115 on a candy corn 150 back on the other dipsy and that was it for the morning. Great morning to be back out on the water though.
  15. We've been pretty successfull with 6-7 foot leads for flasher/fly combos and 8-9 foot leads for clean spoons. However, I heard not to long ago that a 10-12 foot lead for flashers/flies and spoons is ideal. Haven't tried this yet, cuz I just heard about it, but figured I might give it a try. Maybe it will change relatively productive dipsy setups into becoming extremely productive setups. If you're using longer rods like me, and with water clarity becoming a greater factor, guess you may as well use the longest leader you possibly can. Just my 2 cents.
  16. So, in the summer like this when not to many people are catching fish, is it because the fish just aren't biting, they're scattered, or is it because they're super deep? Combination of all three?
  17. Thanks for the report Jacob. Hope to get out soon!
  18. Thanks for the report Don. Sounds like we're starting with the dog days of summer again.
