  1. Braided dipsies will be hittin the rod locker for us this next year. After ridin along on a friends boat this fall, we will definitely be replacing them with wire dipsies. Simply put, wire out produces braided divers, and after a second year in a row with others claiming a good wire dipsy bite, time to change it up.
  2. What was the must run setup, spoon, flasher/fly combo on your boat this past year? Ours was an 11" Pearl/White Paddle with a Pickled Mirage fly down on the bottom rigger and the ol faithfuls, Double Trouble, Green Dolphin, and Natural Born Killer.
  3. Well, hasn't even been 2 months yet and i'm dying to pull the boat back out and I'm sure i'm not the only one! So, lets get through the withdrawal together and start planning for next year. Are you gonna try running something new? Different rod setup, presentation tactics? Lets hear it!
  4. Thinking about adding some meat rigs to the arsenal next year, whats everyone's top color/setups?
  5. Currently I'm running an 18' lund, and would like to run another rigger down the chute. Not sure how this is done with an outboard motor. I'm just wondering where some of you guys are mounting this rigger on your boat. Pics would be great if anyone has any.
  6. Thanks for the report! Sound like you had a great night!
  7. Started the morning in 90fow. Had the first hit on an oceana fly/11" white crush paddle. Lost that one. But didn't seem to matter to much, for the next 1 1/2 hours (6:30-8:00) was steady action. Fishing slowed down after that, but ran into a few schools of coho in 160fow to keep the action going. Ended up 8 for 12, landing 3 cohos and 5 kings. Riggers 65-75 down with that flasher/fly combo, Double Trouble, Green Dolphin, and Green Natural Born Killer were the best producers. 300ft of copper took a nice king on a green chillie willie and had a screamer on 200ft of copper with a pink panties but couldn't keep it hooked up.
  8. Fished this morning out of Muskegon and surface temp was 72 degrees at the pierheads.
  9. Nothin beats a great evening of fishing. Thanks for the report.
  10. Nice fish! Sounds like a great evening.
  11. Despite the fuel issue you still managed a good trip. Good job!
  12. Its great fun when you can fish and catch with your son. Muskegon has been very good. Enjoy!
  13. Set up in and fished 100-120fow for the evening. Ended up 10 for 15 including a triple. Fish hit on pretty much everything, but heres what worked: Hot Lobster 48ft on a rigger 4-5 Green Dolphin 52ft on a rigger 1-1 Blue/Green Dolphin 200ft of copper 1-1 (22lb king) 140ft #3 setting pickled sunshine fly/green fishcatcher 1-1 Flounder Pounder main line set at 42ft on the slider 1-1 Magnum Bloody Nose 150ft of copper 0-1 line snapped (frickin vanish) Nuclear Veggies 52ft on a rigger 0-2 120ft #3 setting Double Trouble 1-1 SS Anaconda main line set at 52ft slider 0-1 and the last two slip my mind, 7:00-8:00 there was never a time where we had more than 2 lines set.
  14. Fish were biting all over. 5 for 7 and as fine line was saying, anything and everything. Thanks for the reports guys.
  15. Anyone run leaders on their riggers? I've had mine setup to have a 7-8ft leader tied to a swivel and then to the main line. The slider would go above that swivel. Is it worth the extra swivel or should I just leave out the leader and attach to the main line.
  16. Anyone use mono for leader on coppers and cores with as good of or better success than flouro? Won't be able to make it back out to the shop before the next trip and am wondering if its worth the time and effort of taking all this vanish crap off my rods and replacing with 25lb clear big game mono or if I should just wait till I can get the flourocarbon.
  17. I forget who it was on this site that tried to tell me that berkley vanish stinks, I think it was Dave Ash, and I defended this stuff. Well, whoever it was, was right. This stuff sucks! Its horrible! Broke three times tonight, thankfully the line broke twice just as the net made it under the fish. The other time cost me a $9 bait. This stuff is crap! Luhr Jensen snubbers rank up there with them. Broke two in the last two trips.
  18. Fished Friday evening, Ending up 8 for 11. Best depth was 70-80 fow. Pickled sunshine fly and green fishcatcher 110ft back took 2. 6 color with a moonshine bloody nose took a 6lb laker. 100ft of copper with and small orange shanster too the largeset of the day. 4 color and a flounder pounder took another nice king as well. The rest came on riggers 31 and 28ft down. Double trouble, flounder pounder, natural born killer, and stinger nitro all took fish. Kings were from 8-17lbs. As soon as 8:30pm came around, it was mass chaos. Had 4 rods go at once, manage three.
