  1. 200 ft leader? Must be a misprint.
  2. He's got my vote as well. I've got 2 older mag 20's that he has kept going for me. Just minor stuff. Got new power cables for free last year. The man is a master.
  3. I'm confused. You hooked the biggest fish of your life, the fish ripped it out of your hands and you are never going back to GH? I'd still be trolling around looking for that fish. You actually quit fishing after that? There are some little stocked trout ponds that may be less stressfull. I would guess it may be tough trolling however.
  4. Note to Kevin and Mark. Much more peaceful in my neck of the woods.
  5. Finally got the boat fixed up and went out for the first trip of the year. Fished 0700-1300. 40-325 FOW. Caught all fish 190-225 FOW 0930-1030. NW troll at 3.0-3.2 on GPS. Went 4/6. 8lb steelhead 2 core steelie stomper. Lost huge steelhead same rig one beautiful jump and gone. 8lb steelhead full core broken bloody nose. 18lb king same rig. 9lb coho flounder pounder 43 down on rigger. Lost one on slider orange ladderback stinger. Line broke. Absolutely beautiful day to be on the water. Watch out for nets west of channel in 55 and 80 FOW. More nets south of channel reported.
  6. Went out yesterday. Nets are still there. Saw a Coast Guard boat looking at them. I've read that only the tribal police can have them removed. I say remove them and send them the bill since they will not remove these deadly hazards. Whats the worst thing that could happen? They make millions of dollars in their casinos and can't clean up their mess?
  7. 7ft ugly stick one piece 1100's awesome fun on a green fish on a DR. Not made anymore. I want a few if anybody has some. 1101's are 2 piece work well but I'd love to pick up some 1100's.
  8. Welcome! Lots of guys fish salmon out of 16 ft boats. Research this site for info on how to do it.
  9. that's exactley what I have done for years. then on ice in the cooler.
  10. Really not sure what you mean on how anyone would "manage" salmon to stay close to shore. The last time I checked they roam and eat in deep water moving closer to shore as the season progresses. Then they are on shore and up river to spawn giving "shore opportunities". What is your suggestion for "managing" salmon to change their offshore behavior? If I could place an order with my license purchase; I would go for a cheap spoon on a downrigger 50 down in 100 FOW 75 back. All 20 pounders.
  11. My exact route out of the channel as well. My boat is not quite ready. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. Another vote for simple green.
  13. Thanks to all who praise the Lake Trout. Many ways to cook them and enjoy them. Wish we had the Lake Superior Lake trout down here, but what we have does very well in the pan, the grill, or the smoker.
  14. Welcome to the site. Lots of great folks and information here.I fish out of Whitehall. Glad to help out any way I can.
  15. Thanks for bringing this up. I too have used 20# big game on riggers 30# for leaders on paddles and SD's. 20# for backing on my lead core. Used Big Game for many years. No issues, works great, just replace every year like any other mono. Buy the big spools. Can't beat the price.
  16. Those walleye guys are a pretty cheeky group:grin: Speaking of cheeks, has anyone else been lucky enough to try halibut cheeks?
  17. I use the cheap ($10.00) big wrap arounds. UV protection, fit over my glasses, and work well. Don,t think anyone makes them anymore, but I know a place that has all kinds of old and new fishing stuff. My fishing budget doesn't have room for designer fishing glasses.
  18. All great points, but I've never seen more than a couple of boats using the city marina. How does the city of Whitehall afford to support a marina with no income? Do you know what they charge for a slip? Gas sales can't support the marina I wouldn't think.
  19. Welcome Matt! Great group of folks on here. Looking forward to your input. Soft water soon!
  20. Thanks for the reminder. Been there. Done that. I've got the Fishhawk. New probe. Old head. Battery lasts all season. New cable on the probe rigger. Works great.
  21. I will be selling my 1979 Tiara 2500 Pursuit this spring. Price will be in your range. It is an awesome fishing boat.
