  1. Way to go Mike...one question - how far is that off shore in St Joe - like 25 miles?
  2. Always a pleasure having you on board Jon...thanks for the help.
  3. Had a great couple trips this weekend with some great friends. Friday we went out of Holland after the drenching rain ( 10 minutes of it ). We went down toward Saugatuck to try to find some fishes. Played around in 60-80 fow from just north of Saugatuck to south a ways, and back up north. One fish on flasher fly (laker) on dipsey out 120. First king of the season dove a 100 copper board twice on his way to find shore, lost. Caught another laker somewhere in there on a rigger, caught three very nice kings on all dark spoons - UV black with a red eye on it and black screwball. Strange. Sunday morning we went out again looking for kings in that same water...found very little going on, other than a lot of boats who must ahve read the same reports we did (everyone was in the same water). Did find a few fish there, but no pattern to the lures - darks were definately not working like they did Friday. I think we got fish on Moldy Muffin, Blue Mango, Blue Chilly Willy, a #6 Splatterback Ace Hi Plug on the rigger, UM Froggie, Lemon Ice, and ???. Ended up finding most fish in 120-140 and had a great time. Both trips the lake was mostly flat.
  4. Very nice Jim, thanks for the info as always...great to see you at the dock this year.
  5. Very nice steve...We were there too, didn't think about putting out any thin fins...DARN.
  6. Very nice work Mike...way to stick it out in tough conditions.
  7. Well, I started seeing more and more birds each year during deer season, so this year I thought it would be a great idea to get a turkey tag and try to thin the group. Hunted a few times the first week with my trusty sidekick and had a riot. Finally bagged my first bird last night. 21.5 lbs, 9 inch beard.
  8. Nice job guys...looks like a great night on the water...wow that is flat.
  9. There could be a kink in the wire at the "stop". how did you attach the stop? If you use something that could bend your cable you may have kinked it causing it to form a kind of "bend", which could hang up...hmmmm... if this is the case, try simply typing some power pro on each side of the cable to "tie" in your autostop...just an idea. I've never had this problem with my autostops, but I have had them slide on me when using different methods to try to keep them in place.
  10. Well, we dumped the boat in the water Saturday afternoon and got it all ready to go Sunday morning. Pulled away from the dock at probably 6:15 and just kept it under wake speed to the channel (didn't want to risk hitting logs). Got lines set at maybe 7ish in 75fow heading sw and man was it nice (despite a little rain). Flat flat flat. Only managed a few fish (2 lakers and two kings, one of which was a short), but we had a great time. Shakedown cruise under our belts for the season and a few lakers for the smoker.. We tried about everything, body baits, spoons, flashers flies, etc. Got one on a UV green splatterback spoon from SS on 200 copper, one one a small orange spinnie and blue fly on a dipsey on 1.5 back 120, one on 300 copper with a UV green splatterback spoon from SS, and the small one hit a jointed rapala on 3 color yellow and red fire stripes. All in all a good day on the lake.
  11. Skunk out on the shakeout trip is a win Jake. Thanks for the report.
  12. Way to go Dave. Much better than we did this weekend. Lakers lakers lakers...hey It's still fishin.
  13. They went out of business? That sucks...those things are cheap and awesome.
  14. That is ridiculous. Ah, government, when looking for ineffective, inefficient organizations, look no further.
  15. Welcome to the site Cathy...many people on the site from your area and I'm sure they would be happy to help.
  16. OUCH...what a difference a year makes.
  17. Way to shake the rust (and a few other things it sounds like) off the boat. Great to get the it out I'm sure.
  18. Way to go Terry...if there is fish in the lake, you always seem to find them.
  19. Nice job getting the boat going for the season and getting the skunk out.
  20. Nice job making lemonade out of lemons.
  21. I love my 10' blue diamond okuma roller rods...they seem to help when we have 12' leads...you can still raise your hands up over your head and help the net guy out...however, we are probably going to start running even longer leads and then hand lining in the fish, so I may have to experiment with the 8'6" rods so we can actually reach the line to start hand lining...we'll let you know how it goes. We run the 8'6" rods inside and deep and the 10' rods outside and high.
  22. Welcome to the site Dan...great to have some more walleye guys here.
  23. Great to have you back in Michigan....very nice ride.
