  1. All fish were ho's, I think GLF is posting pics for this one today. Speed we worked was 2-2.5, but I think most of the fish hit on the slower end. I also forgot to mention, we were on a south troll, but that was mostly due to the waves.
  2. Heard you had a great weekend.

    Probably trolled right passed us.

We went 4for5 but only went to the A frames and then turned around at 1.

Sounds like we should have gone farther.

  3. Went out of St Joe on Scott's boat this morning, starting with lines wet at about 8:30. South troll 15-20fow. Three of us on his boat and fished 8-9 poles most of the day. Only pole that went was 4 for 5. Berkley power pro with a braid backer on a walleye board. Fire tiger thin fin caught all the fish. Fish ranged from 2-4 pounds, so nothing to brag about, but sure was nice to be back out on the water again. Fished from 8:30-1. Caught all the fish before 11 with the one miss coming later. Got the skunk out of the winter box and the first sun burn of the year. THANKS Scott. Had a great time.
  4. Why in the world would you NOT want pancakes? Are you sure????? They are making a GLOW 15lb pancake, plastic coated. You can get them at Borculo Bait and Tackle in Borculo (between Holland and Grand Haven).
  5. Send the item directly to work. Install on boat. Use the "I told you about that" method that someone suggested. Works for about the first 6 toys, then it starts to be obvious. Probably obvious to the boss before that, but hey what do I know.
  6. If you have not yet purchased here is a location: http://www.fishusa.com/Okuma-Catalina-30D-Blue-Diamond-Trolling-Rod-Combo_p.html I'd also check with Lakeshore in Saugatuck when then open in the spring. He is very fair.
  7. You will not be disappointed with Okuma Convector 30Ds with anywhere between 600-1000ft of stainless wire. You will also enjoy Blue Diamond Roller rods by Okuma. I made the mistake of getting 10 ft rollers and wish I had stayed shorter so my lead core spread stayed farther away from my dipsey lines. I recommend 8-9ft rods. The Blue Diamonds are what will do it for you, though you could get away with a standard rod with a spinny tip, though if you are starting from scratch, I'd do it right.
  8. For new parts on the boat, I was pretty happy that 1. they had it in stock and 2. it was only about 225 which is not bad for what it gets you. All in all, I was just happy to get back out on the water on such a beautiful day.
  9. Went out Saturday morning early. Got lines wet by 5:00am and by 7 we were out to about 120fow. All of a sudden the lights start to go dim. Hmmmmmm. Alternator went bad on us. So, we went back in and by 11 we had a new one on. Well, still a nice day and plenty of fishing still left, so we went back out. We had great temperature at the balls 47-50 degrees 50 down just north of channel. Marked a lot of fish withing 20 feet of the bottom, but could not get anything to hit. We went from 130fow back in to 70fow, back out to 200fow and finally picked up a single Steelhead on 3 color with a Stinger Glo Lemon spoon, which we had left up high just in case a Steelhead wanted to get frisky. So, at least we did not get skunked. Now that the alternator is kicking out 13.5 (as oppsed to the 11 we were getting in the morning) the boat is running great and I am looking forward to the spring.
  10. Thanks again Mike. I always have a great time on the GLF. FYI the guys in PS were out in 130fow for theirs this morning too. AWW MAN. I just saw the comment. You dawg. I was soaking wet and that was my own fault.
  11. Great Job Mike. 7 for 7 on Sunday the 7th. You must be living right my friend.
  12. Sorry for the late post, been a busy holiday weekend. Went out of PS early Sunday morning. Fished deep based on report from 08/30. Started in 130 and went out to 155. Gave up, finally came in to other traffic at 125. Nailed a double on full core. Magnum Blue Dolphin and Magnum Carmel Dolphin. Faught both fish for 25 minutes and finally pulled in two very nice 15+lb kings. That is all we got for the day, but it was fun completing the double.
  13. King Fisher. I think we saw you out in Port Sheldon Saturday. Could not get to your website. Please let me know if it has changed.

  14. Nice job Jim Bobber. I heard you chattering on the radio in Port Sheldon on Saturday and it helped us pick up a few on JP Slammers. Thanks. Super Happy Fun Time.
  15. What a great day on the water. It was absolutely flat compared to last Sat am. We got lines wet by about 6:00 and started picking them back up right away. I got the first rigger set 45 down in about 65fow and it popped. Area 51 nitro. Put it down and it went again, missed that one. Put it down and it went again, this time on the slider, Green Fireball Nitro, by this time I think we were in about 80fow. Next one was on full core with a double glow J plug in 85fow. Things slowed down for an hour or so at this time. Then we picked up Jim Bobbers chatter on the radio about JP slammers, so we figured what the hay. Threw out Carmel Dolphin JP slammer on half core and bingo. As soon as it got straight it started bouncing. Missed a big fish (Mike would say a 53 pounder) on the downrigger at 50 in 105fow. Snapped the line about 10 foot off the pole. Picked up our last fish in about 110fow on full core with a NBK JP Slammer. Ended up 5 for 7. All smaller fish. Between 5 and 8 pounds. All in all a great day on the water with a Buddy I had not spent time with in a while from the Detroit area.
  16. Great job guys. GLF, some of us had to stay at work .
  17. Big waves on the lake on Saturday morning. Lost one early (5:30ish) on a rigger in 65fow down 40 on a nitro green fireball. Slow troll out to deeper water (waves pushing in). After sun up we managed to put two in the boat. One (king) in 70 fow 50 down on the rigger on Carmel Dolphin Magnum. One (laker) in 90 fow on full core NBK. Picture is of my brother and his son, who loves to fish but can't handle the big water just yet.
  18. Great job Mike. Sounds like you had a lot of fun out there playing bumper boats. We counted 50+ in Port Sheldon.
  19. Really appreciate the support guys. We have been catching one at a time this summer and that was getting old fast. FYI, I also just purchased a fish hawk 840 that I am looking forward to breaking in next weekend.
  20. We braved the 5 foot waves Saturday night and managed to put one in the box. It came as we were quitting at 10:30pm 70fow 50 down on the rigger with napalm nitro. The real reason we went out at night was to stay on the water and fish in the morning. We were lines in by 4:45 and found them early between 95 and 105 fow. First one came on Electric Blueberry Nitro on a figger 45 down at about 5:30. Second came on Napalm Nitro on full core about a half hour later. Third was five minutes later on the Dipsey 120 back, Green Fireball Nitro. missed one after we switched lures on an NBK 45 down on a rigger. Forth fish of the day was on Full Core, NBK, in about 120fow at about 8:00. Next miss was just as we pulled that fish in the boat. Dipsey about 150 back went with a Green Dolphin. It was Skamania baby. I have never in my life witnessed a fish jump 6ft out of the water until now. This thing got serious air and the dipsey and lure went limp the second it hit the water. Bummer. The last fish came just as I got the empty dipsey rig to the boat (so if you are counting 3 fish in about 5 minutes). This one was Full Core Blue Dolphin and that one filled the box. Biggest fish was about 12 pounds. Most of the fish were good eat'n fish between 6 and 8 pounds. THANKS to GLF for all his tips last week Tuesday. Really made Sunday a sucess.
  21. GLF is not joking. I made the mistake of touching the drag last week on his boat. Nearly lost a digit. Luckily I only needed one warning. Great job on the fishing.
