  1. I was on Jons boat and saw the cooler he is mentioning. It will be my next marine cooler. It is better built than the igloos. Walmart has them on their site for 80 free delivery to your local store. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubbermaid-150-qt-Marine-Ice-Chest/20613569
  2. With the boat traffic on that lake if the build hundred or thousands of turbines in the lake someone is going to get killed.
  3. Nice job Jon. Got my outdrive working. got home and started checking it out and I think it is the motor cutoff switch going out. disconnected it and hotwired the connection and the outdrive goes up and down again
  4. Here is an email I got from lowran when I was inquiring last winter This is what a tech at lowrance sent me. Lowrance Transducers Choosing the Best Transducer Choosing the best transducer for your Lowrance Fish Finder needs some understanding of the differences and the features of the transducers on offer. There are two types commonly referred to as: 'single' and 'dual' frequency or shallow and deep water. The differences are not only in the frequency but also in the beam width and they are as follows: • 'Single' frequency HST-WSBL 106-72 transducer will operate on 2 frequencies on the new HDS models: 200 (20°) & 83KHz (60°). • 'Dual' frequency HST-DFSBL 106-77 transducer will operate on 3 frequencies on the new HDS models: 200KHz (12°), 83KHz (36°) & 50KHz (35°). Note that the 'dual' frequency transducer has a narrower Beam Angle than the 'single' frequency transducer. So what difference does that make I hear you ask? Quite a lot actually. The wider beam angle on the 'Single' will give more fish images and less noise in shallow water (under 100m). 83KHz looks good in fresh and Brackish Water, but does not perform as well as 200Khz in salt water. For fresh water fishing and under 100m, the 'Single' 106-72 is the best choice and for fishing over 100m & the shelf, choose the 'Dual' 106-77. For some applications you may want both and this is becoming more popular. All Lowrance HDS models can use either of these transducers and the frequency (beam angle) can be switched at any time. The above comments refer to Transom Mount transducers. However Lowrance also have shoot thru the hull 'Single' frequency transducers and 'Dual' frequency Thru Hull transducers which are suited to larger vessels. Lowrance Transducers are designed for specific hull types and operating depths. Chosing the right Lowrance transducer is not rocket science, it is a simple matter of answering the right questions: • What type of hull and boat length? Tiinies and trailerable fibreglass runabouts will fit a transom mount transducer. Sailing boats and non trailerable Fibreglass will fit a Thru Hull or In Hull. • What depth are you fishing? Under 100m will use a an 83/200KHz and over 100m, a 50/200KHz
  5. about 150 running I would loose bottom and trolling about 250. Yes I could see the cannon balls better on the 83/200
  6. the 83 200 is wider. I have both on my boat and like the 50 200 better for lake mi fishing. the 83/200 I use on erie. In deep water while running I would lose the bottom with the 83/200. I don't with the 50/200.
  7. We just went on a west troll till we started getting fish. Once we ran out of fish we turned and went right through the same area picking away at them. so we just kept making a big circle through the area. I usually don't go out that deep this time of year either but the fish were out there.
  8. heres what worked: wire mag divers back 225 and 250 with big white slick paddles and arctic blast fly and pickled shunshine fly 7 color with a green black ladder back j plug 3 down rigger down from 35 to 55 all with green glow pro king mags 1 rigger with a wonder bread dw super glow down 40 ft 225 copper with mtn dew paddle and green fly 150 copper with a yellow colored spinnie and a sour apple howie fly. Best water was from 190 230. Stayed in that are and just made circle hitting fish.
  9. Same program as yesterday and same water went 11 of 17
  10. Went out with a couple guys from the other side if the state and my dad today. started in 60 ft on a sw troll didnt hit the first fish till 123. at 190 all hell broke loose we ended 14 for 26. We just couldnt keep the fish on today you would fight them for five minutes then slack line. What worked wire diver mag back 225 and 250 white big paddle and arctic blast big weenie fly accounted for 7 fish and 11 hits 5 color with a mtn dew spinnie and pickled shushine fly 7 color with a green black ladder back j plug 3 down rigger down from 35 to 45 all with green glow pro king mags 1 rigger with a wonder bread dw super glow down 40 ft 225 copper with mtn dew paddle and green fly and a 150 copper with a yellow colored spinning and a sour apple howie fly. Best water was from 190 230. Stayed in that are and just made circle hitting fish.
  11. I echo the response outdoorsman and goldcoast
  12. Costco has a marine 165 qt for 85 bucks
  13. Dave i would have to talk to the guys that are coming into town. i will be out there either way and am always willing to share information. Its a big lake out there and any info helps.
  14. nothing to worry about just stay in the channel going out if you get out of the channel it gets shallow real quick.
  15. I run three when we fish the islands on erie. I am not using riggers and tring to keep the lines close to the boat as there isn't enough room to run the big boards. If you are not running side riggers I run them on 0 11/2 and 3. all on braid. I am using standard sized walkers/slide divers. I use convector 30s and have them on the daiwa wilderness rods 8 8 1/2 and 10ft. I also use the wilderness rods as my leadcore rods for salmon. I don't think I would run a mag dipsy on them. For that I have taloras.
  16. I'm going to be fishing but have a couple guys coming in from out of town that want to spend as much time on the water as possible as they only come over once a year. I wanted to do the event as it sounds like fun. Give me a call on the radio I will let you know how I am doing.
  17. totally awesome pics ken. Nicely done.
  18. plugs dive and would tangle. I usually use lighter flutter spoons like super slims. or standard sized spoons.
