  1. Nope just a treble hook or dual singles. If anything you can add a fly body or a squid body like Jimmy does.
  2. Dodgers and spin n glos or dodgers and squids are what we run most. 1.5-1.9 on the speed. the trick is to stand at the rigger and keep it just ticking the bottom. The best method to figure leader length on a dodger is three times the length of the dodger. I typically try to keep shorter lead length from the cannon ball 15 ft or so. The trick is to find the area that the trout like the bottom. Ask wherever you go and find out where the lake trout typically are at.
  3. Welcome aboard well see ya out there some time as I fish out of Holland when I am done walleye fishing in Monroe. If ya have any questions just give a holler.
  4. mt tx-44 are set up the same way as this:
  5. I was having noise issue like that with my hds unit. started working through everything trying to figure it out. After buying resistor plugs changing wires etc etc. I talked to lance valentine at the show and his recommendation was to hook the unit direct to a battery not connected to the engine and see what it does. I also had noise in my marine radio. Noise was gone. I went and got a small deep cycle and hooked it to the unit and no more issues. I got like a 24 series battery and can fish on it for 6-9 trips before I top it off with an overnight charge. The problem when you start adding filters is you start reducing power to the unit which in turn decrease's the unit sensitivity.
  6. Is Kay still around and writing cookbooks? I remember in the early 80s working the shows for the steelheaders with my dad. we were two booths down and the smells of her food cooking drove us nuts. Everything that lady cooked was awesome. One night after the show closed she came down to our booth with something for us to try. It was deep fried pickles. She was trying them on us as she loved them and wanted to see others reactions. I loved em. This was about 1980 or so. I have a few of her cook books but always looking to add from her as I never had a bad thing out of recipes.
  7. Same here. it is such a PITA fighting the board with a fish on it. board release pegged in place by an or16 and you fight the fish just like the board isn't there. reel it to the tip fight the fish the rest of the way in. No pointing the rod at the board and fighting a diving board with a fish pulling.
  8. I have them on my blue diamond rods and like them. They have an extra guide ring inside that makes sure the line stays on the roller I personally like them better than the aftcos. AS far as line curling I don't think there is a way to stop that
  9. Depending on whos with me. pink floyd, IRON MAIDEN, van halen, queensryche, meatloaf, more classic rock, some country. When it is my brother and one buddy with me it is slayer, testament, anthrax, IRON MAIDEN, Offspring, motley crue, old metallica.
  10. A friend of mine has a Cherokee hard top and he had to get the external antenna as his wouldn't get the satellites under the hard top.
  11. Had very similar issues my pancakes went on craigs list after one weekend fishing the point in ludington
  12. under 50 ft 10 lb sharks over 50 ft 15 lb sharks I have a 15 lb saltys ball to try it is a fish shaped ball.
  13. I would stay with discs if you are just fishing mich waters it is too shallow to mess with the other stuff. and you can adjust the discs to the depth you want them unless you want to rig a bunch of rods with different lengths of copper for over there. We did the lead core thing back years ago and your stuck to that depth and having a bunch of rods that are in the wrong zone. discs or jets you can fish any depth and they are easy to set/retrieve off boards.
  14. Welcome aboard. Ask any questions you have and don't feel afraid too. We all started somewhere and needed some guidance.
  15. Here is the direct link to the Monroe buoy. http://uglos.mtu.edu/station_page.php?station=45165
  16. I would stay away from torpedos they take you line down to fast. you want to get away from the boat. Small spoons streak jrs and minis are best for spoons. the little bit larger spoon will help keep some of the junk fish off. What weekend you going to be at sterling? I will be there next wed evening through Monday afternoon. If you want to slip your boat while you are there check out brest bay marina it is five-ten minutes from the campground. I think they charge 25 a night 150 week. a month is 250. we usually do the econo docks for the season for 450 http://www.brestbaymarina.com/summer.html
  17. Blackhawk they also have a bouy on Erie for your trip over there later this month.
  18. Dont mess with it. I tried led core and you limit what you can do. fish have been in the top five foot one day the next on the bottom. use mono and mini divers or jets off boards and you can get to any depth. with lead or copper your stuck to fish that depth and could be missing feeding fish. Where you headed to? i have my boat over there at brest bay through the second week of july.
  19. Welcome aboard ask any questions you have here.
  20. Nice job frank. One more weekend and I can get back on the water.
