littleboat Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Solo 6:50am-11:45am, 1/3, 15#-7oz king. Lost two others, one on rigger and other on orange wire diver. Fished 100-145fow. Marked lots of bait and a few large fish. 1) 350cu with dancing anchovy (7:40am), in 124fow on S troll.(15#-7oz king). At the cleaning station, some fished 50-70fow and got 2-3 kings@ 5-6#. When the sun came out, others had better bites but the same size. Surface temp was 57.6°, and the wind was 6.9 mph but picked up, and waves started a 2ft chop. Fish were definitely in the 40-80 range. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App 4
Reel-y-hooked Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Well done Ed. Netting a 15# king fishing solo can be exciting . Thanks for the report.
WRENCHED 4 IT Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Ed great job and thanks for the report. I noticed to that as soon as the sun came out the fish stared to bite.
zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Biggest King that has been posted for some time. Nicely done Ed. Must have been heart pounding on 350 Cu!
littleboat Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 When he hit the 350cu, I was just in the process of getting ready to change its lure when the board took off and went like a rocket away from the boat. I thought this was going to be a big one, and I had to be careful as I pulled it in so I would not lose it. Then comes the most important part, holding the pole in one hand and the net in the other. This is where solo fishing gets to be a heartbreaker, and it takes the utmost coordination to bring your catch onboard instead of watching it slip off your hook. When you are successful, you feel like you crossed the finish line. When you fail, you feel like you forgot you running shoes when you came to the race.Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App 1
FBD Posted June 13 Posted June 13 More than once I have considered shooting a large fish before netting it. I’m only slightly kidding. 1
