  1. We stopped putting the gear away and just listened when you opened it up. Sounded sweet.
  2. My nephew was out in 110' and got and lost a coho in the first 15 minutes, then never had another hit. Did we all come in together and if so we're you in the boat with twin outboards?
  3. I''ve stuck a deep thunderstick off a full core into the bottom in 65', rolling 2.5-2.7 on the g p s.
  4. Foggy. With that and some stain in the water I expected the browns to be on their game. Not so much. Popped a nice 5# on a mini streak off a one color, and lost a smaller one on a dream weaver little devil when I tripped the bird too soon and gave him some slack. Both fish announced their presence by not pulling the boards back but by launching out of the water, the first one way off to the side confusing us as to what rod he was really on.
  5. Trout limit is three of a species five total. You could have boxed another laker. Thanks for the reports and keep them coming. We fished South Haven last week because of them.
  6. Our best was a 8" trash can with a green fly 45' down over 65'. Our stuff on the bottom didn't do anything. One off a white dodger with a green spin and glow off a diver, and one on a magnum green dolphin off a 200' copper.
  7. All, I have the 21' version of this hull and can't say enough about how well it handles. You will not find a nicer boat of this vintage than the one listed here.

    New Ride

Wind will push it around a lot compared to the old ride. Fuel consumption will probably go way down though. Get back on those fishes and don't let them disrespect you.
  9. Jigging will work any time the fish are concentrated. Trolling works better when the fish are scattered. When the lake flipped at St. Joe one time and the steelhead came in I watched a guy land several casting a fly rod off the how of a very large Sea Ray.
  10. Nice. We tried the same water near Holland Tuesday night with nothing, headed in and changed to a brown program only to pick up a laker on a rapala in 32' then a steel on the beach.
  11. Sorry to jump on your post but I can't figure out how to create my own. We fished deeper than I wanted to try to keep grass off the lures. Crew mentioned they needed a fish for Easter dinner. No pressure. About half an hour in see something big rocket out of the water, black edge flutterdevle found an 8.4# brown off a one color 30' from the boat. With the pressure off we got a 3# brown down the chutě, turned back to port had a lull then got a small king, small brown, and a whitefish. Shad raps and a live target copper smelt took the rest. Released the king and brown. But not the whitefish. That would be silly.
  12. We were the 19th boat out of Port Sheldon this morning. Coasties were pulling people over in Pigeon Lake. Nice flat day water was 33 and clear. Managed one laker in 40' off a River Rocker. Way too much traffic in close to think about trying for browns.
  13. "This content is not supported" Android phone. Used to work.
  14. Trying again. image:16810 image:16809
  15. "Four Winns Water" image:3093 image:2463 image:3093
  16. I have a 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner. If money was not an option and I had to get another boat, I would get a 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner. Or maybe a 1988. Absolute tank, pretty much problem free, pretty lines, tons of storage, fast. It's got a stupid deep v so it cuts waves hard and takes a bit to plane out, little wobbly in the through but a pair of trolling bags sucks her down into the water nicely.
  17. The eagle claw roller rods work great for lead core.
  18. In out sucks for fishing. Leaving your gear out all night and having them put it away the next morning. Or conversely leaving it out all night and picking it up the next morning. If it's there when you show up at 5am with your crew. Yep, drive 40 minutes to wait until 8am to be told "we did not have room to drop it last night". Mine came with a year of in out paid in full; I used that time to rebuild the trailer and was done with that by July.
  19. As part owner of this boat, this disgusts me. The DNR took our license money, bought out the commercial guys and handed over the gear to the tribal fisherman. Then they set a stellar example by sinking boats at the docks (this is not the first time), losing nets, not pulling them on time, routinely blowing through quotas, and laundering several hundreds of thousands of pounds of illegally caught fish (some years nearly 20% of the catch) through "legal" agents. Goid Ole Levi, was it a broken foot that kept you away from your boat, or the fact that you were in jail for buggering a minor? These were explanations from his past screw ups...
  20. We have three cars for two of us. Truck for truck stuff gets about 3k a year. Wife ferries kids around in a Jeep. I can steal either to tow. I drive a focus as I log 70-100 miles a day. If one pukes we just cycle in another until I can fix it get it fixed. As for cost the 100k focus replaced replaced a 228k escort, the jeep has been with us 17 years, and the truck was given to us as a favor to settle a debt.
  21. Only hit 100' from pulling lines. Red heads and steelhead, two of my favorites. image:13440
  22. I tied in a short section of braid. Back to back uni knots for braid to mono. Tie an overhand knot in the wire, run the braid through it, uni knot the braid around the wire then cinch up the overhand knot. Or if it will fit through your guides a small Spro swivel.
  23. Pretty much no 2-3 year old kings in the lake. Lots of 1 year old fish and a good bait hatch, so optimism for recovery of the bait.
