  1. Fished 6:00 to 10:00 this morning going 5 for 7 on a north west troll in 110 fow out to 180 fow. Fish were down between 40 and 60 fow. Ran 2.6 to 2.8 sog. What worked, white paddle with white/blue fly, blue/green dolphin and dw glow lure green and white. Caught 2 shaker kings on dw spoon, 1 king barely over 9lbs blue/green dolphin, 2 kings white/blue fly 13 lbs and 22 lbs king. Photo of ( just the biggies).
  2. Sorry for late post. Went out of Muskegon solo yesterday. Decided to head south, half way to GH started to find fish in the 127 fow. Set lines and headed out to 152 fow and found top 20-40 fow had bait and lots of shaker kings. Down 60-80 fow had few larger kings. Sent dipseys down to 50-70 fow and had a 7 color out. Adjusted dipseys during the day as needed. Picked up 2 shaker kings using mixed veggie standard spoon on 7 color. Caught 1 12lbs king 65 down on a stinger blue/green dolphin standard spoon. Had 1 smoker almost spool me on a blue dolphin standard spoon which broke the line. Speed was 2.4 to 3.0 sog
  3. Fished from 6:00 till 12:00 running 6 rods. Started again in 40fow to 65fow. Marked lots of fish glued to the bottom. Radio chatter stated the above with no fish taken but lots of marks. Went out to 155fow and marked fish at 50fow to 60fow. Lost the only fish that hit in that depth on a braid dipsey using a black and green ladder back standard spoon. Back at the boat ramp talked to few captains who did catch a couple in the 147 fow . Hopefully you’ll have better luck than we did.
  4. Went out of Muskegon solo. Set first line at 6:00 am. Started out heading south in 45 fow to 65 fow. Lots of boats but little radio chatter of fish being taken. Did mark fish on the bottom and had no takers in the 45-65 fow. Picked up and headed more South into deeper water. Went 2 for 2 both kings.. Fished from 9:20 till noon in 147 fow water out to 190 fow. What worked. Braid dipsey in 155 fow standard size blue dolphin down 55 feet 12 lbs king. 300 copper took the other 8 lbs king on a blue ladder back standard size spoon in 167 fow. Ran 2.5 sog to 2.9 sog. Both fish where taken coming back in on a south east troll. Going again tomorrow.
  5. It’s been 5 years since I posted and it sure feels good to be back on the water. Headed north out of PS staying in 40fow to 60fow. Lots of bait fish, went 1 for 2 catching 1 8lbs king on 4 color using slim happy meal . Fish lost hit on a braid dipsy with watermelon slim lure. Speed 2.8 sog. Fished 6:30 till noon on a solo trip.
  6. Port Sheldon 5/10/17 pm 5:45 to 8:00 Set first rod at 5:45 pm starting in 125 fow heading out to 149 fow with no action. Heard on the radio few catches in close. Pullled lines and started in 55 fow heading into 40 fow. Went 4 for 5 heading south 2.6 mph. Riggers set at 25 and 32 ft and 150 copper. Took 2 on the riggers and 2 on copper, loosing a nice king at the boat on the copper. All spoons were mag spoons, orange in color with the copper line having orange with blue. Pulled lines at 8:00 rain got heavy and forgot rain gear. 1 coho and 1 king on riggers and 2 kings on copper.
  7. Thanks for report. Caught 2 lakers on north west troll out of Port Sheldon this am in about same depth on green dolphin using riggers in 65 fow with riggers set at 48-52 fow speed at the ball 2.6-2.8.
  8. Thanks for report. Went out of Port Sheldon this am and had a bird land on my down rigger and sat there for a1/2 hour, but this bird only brought to lakers with it. I'll switch birds with you next time, I'd much rather have a king!!!

Went out last night with my daughter after work and set lines around 7:00 pm and fished till 9:30 pm due to having to be at work next day.started in 114fow and worked out to 146fow with 142fow south troll being best.went 4/6 running speed of 2.5 to 2.8 at the ball.what worked. 1-steely on down rigger set at 40fow doctor death ss spoon. 1-steely on fixed slider 20fow blue dolphin ss spoon 3-1-22lbs king 1-15lb laker and 1-miss on full core carmel dolphin mag spoon. 1-lost at boat(poor netting skills) king full core flounder pounder mag spoon.

Wow i dont know about rest of you fisherman but my year has stunk so far:(got out late last night started around 6:45 pm and fished till 10:00pm.started in 130fow went out to 185fow sw troll and came back in on a nw troll.mark fish out between 175fow and 185fow with 1 steely to show for it.trolled at the ball from 2.5 to 3.4 at the ball.thru everything at them except meat.this is the start of my 3rd year fishing on the big lake and consider myself a rookie.had 6 line set.2-riggers.2 dispeys and 2-lead cores out 1-4 color and 1-10 color.had most line set at 22fow down to 65 fow.ran mag spoons bl/dolphin,green/dolphin,carmel/dolphin,mixed veggie and switch over flies for awhile changing speed and than before sun set put glow spoons on. What worked 1-steely.10 color lead with dw white and bright green glow spoon.

WENT OUT LAST NIGHT WITH COUPLE OF FRIENDS THAT HADNT GONE OUT ON THE BIG LAKE IN QUITE A FEW YEARS AND WERENT SURE IF THEY WOULD GET SEA SICK:eek:.SO TO MY PLEASURE THE LAKE WAS CALM.WE STARTED HEADING SOUTH SETTING LINES AT AROUND 6:00 PM IN 130FOW AND WENT OUT TO 158FOW HEADING SOUTH AND TURNED BACK NORTH BACK TOWARDS PORT AT END AROUND 10:00 PM.FOUND MOST FISH IN THE 135FOW AND AT THE UPPER PART OF WATER BETWEEN 25FOW AND 18FOW WITH SPEED AT THE BALL 2.9 TO 3.1 WORKING THE BEST.WENT 3 FOR 4.CAUGHT 2-KINGS AND 1-COHO AND LOST 1-STEELY. WHAT WORKED. 1-12LBS KING RIGGER 25FOW BLUE DOLPHIN MAG SPOON 1-8LBS KNG 3 COLOR LEAD CORE MIX VEGGIE 1-5LBS COHO RIGGER 13FOW CARMEL DOLPHIN 1-MISSED STEELHEAD 4 COLOR LEAD CORE DW GLOW SPOON. ALL SPOONS WERE MAG SPOONS HAD NO HITS ON SS SPOONS.
  13. LEFT PORT AT 5:00 AND FISHED TILL 8:45 PM.STARTED TROLL IN 85FOW AND STAYED IN THE 120FOW.WENT 1/3:eek:TROLLED ON A NORTH WEST TROLL. WHAT WORKED. 1- 8LBS COHO ON DOWNRIGGER SET AT 53 FOW NW TROLL AT 118FOW 2.4 TO 2.6 AT BALL.MARKED A FEW BUT NO TAKERS.TRIED SPOONS,FLIES AND PLUGS BUT ONLY 1-TAKER.DID SEE QUITE OF FEW GUYS IN SHALLOW GETTING PEARCH.

Most of the big fish ive taken this year has been and hour or so after sunrise and just before the sun sets.have caught more big fish this year than last year and ive used only spoons.speed has been 2.4 to 2.8 using a fish hawk.also most have been between 85fow and 110fow and have fished mainly out of port sheldon.i have a smaller boat and will only troll with the waves.hope this helps.good luck.
  16. Cory my advise is learn what depth youre equipment is getting youre lures to and adjust them just above by 3-5 feet of what youre marking on youre fish finder.also you need to know what speed youre running at the lure depth.i recommend a fish hawk.this will help get you in the ball park.
  17. Yeah cant say that i didnt knod off myself once or twice on sunday,those waves rock you to sleep every time.
  18. went 4 for 5 out of port Sheldon all kings with largest being 23 lbs. started out at 5:30 and fished to 9:30 went straight out of pier and went on a north west troll at 2.4 to 2.8 speed between 90fow to 110fow running 6 lines 2-down riggers 2-dipseys 1-10 color lead core and 1-300 ft copper.what worked. 2-kings 1-18lbs and the big one at 23lbs off 10 color lead core using dw mag spoon da shiznit. 1-king 20 lbs downrigger set at 52ft with 32ft of line back using ss spoon flounder pounder. 1-king 5lbs that we let go for next year on down rigger set at 45ft and 30 ft line out on ss spoon dr.death. lost 1 on dipsey set at 75 feet back using a mag spoon watermelon. besides the 1 hour and 15 minute rough ride back to port had a great day.
