  1. Also a big hat's off to ya Ron, welcome & thanks for your service. These guys are the best when it comes to friendly useful info.. Don't be afraid to participate, it's all good here.
  2. I get $15/acre near Ludington for just the gun seasons thru December, and that's empty land, but very productive and produces some very nice bucks.
  3. That's strange Tom, I've had that white powder come off brand new store bought spools for years, and the line was just fine. I have to concur, stored in a dry dark closet shouldn't hurt the quality of the line at all, and I like the way Chris tests it, that's the best way to tell imho too.
  4. Those boys are doing it again this year, hopefully, to the Big Dance too. Thanks.
  5. How about steelies full of black beetles in the mid-fall, just loaded, every fish, hundreds. Not lately but it did happen. Never a bird though, good post. You're funny Kevin, that's a hoot!
  6. Looks fintastic and mmm good. Had a friend/business client that cooked us blackened salmon just a few weeks ago, never tried it, talk about gooooooood...lol. Seasoned cast iron skillet over gas high temp. flamed open cooker, blackened seasoning, not too heavy, scallions included, was that ever on cue for a change. Continue with potato salad/baked beans/coleslaw/garlic bread/toast. Sorry I missed this thread earlier, gotta look better. Thanks.
  7. I like green onions, (scallions), too, and add lemon pepper, cherry tomats, parsley, and any other goodies to enhance the enjoyment, nice recipe. Thanks.
  8. We're talkin Tigs now?....good, yupper, they are on a big roll, hope they get to the Big Dance this year, it's time again. 12-1/2 games up I heard, winning last 12 games in a row.
  9. I'm proud to know ya Matt, job well done, and all well said, many happy returns pal, you'll only be better as time goes on.
  10. You big joker Matt......00oolol. Fly and Meat leaders are very important, to say the least. Check every hit! Take a charter, lol, maybe they will reveal the Secret Weapon to ya...........thanks for a good thread.
  11. That's too bad R-Diamond, all you can do sometimes is just drive west, or away from the buffoon. Good luck fishing in the near future, it's all good, even in obscene combat conditions, I've been there too, so have too many others, can't change stupid sometimes....lol.
  12. I also like 20# Big Game, also 17 & 20# XT, this time of year. Way earlier to July, 12 & 15# mono for smaller fish targeted, sometimes smaller reels/open face too, adds action to equation.
  13. It was reported Mr. Smith had set a waypoint inside the pierheads, thus causing the nav error. As other pointed out, it's important to check that and make sure, safety always first in my book too thanks, and God's speed to the family.
  14. Quite right Dirty Dog, I like the smiles on those young gentlemen too, hooked for good I would think, such good fun for them.
  15. All the guys here had a good response, for 2 cents more, it's been my experience to find that the mfr. will only send so many of any one spoon/plug to any one dealer per week until their production catches up with backorders. So, there's another snafu that exists too.
  16. I tuck the low diver into 75-100' depending again on temps. and how shallow you start, like 50-65'fow. Some guys were knocking them dead at a measly 50' back to start here lately, we had 62 degrees on top those days too.
  17. Nice report there Capt Drew, redfishing looks real good down there this summer, thanks for the nice pics..
  18. Interesting subject to be sure, not really sure, I've used the standard True Track blacks for so long, haven't noticed. I did use greens and oranges years ago, the heavier 12-14# I wanted were black from factory, never thought about repainting them, always worked. Here's another suggestion, I have one, 10# ball, TT mfr, that has the big magnet in it, it surely does seem to give that ion effect to attract more fish for me. Anyone know where to get one of those anymore? Thanks.
  19. Some reports of recent confirm Ed's report of not being afraid to go North, way north if the bank is busy/not happening. The ramps/lake will surely be busy the next 2 weekends, like "combat fishing", be safe. Thanks for the report.
  20. Adam is quite right, at least around Ludington, the early and late in-shore bites have been mostly Herring meat rigs. As far as afternoon/middays, I always suggest offshore fishing, like 450-550 fow out deep if you have the boat/gas to do it safely. Upper 50' usually, look at your Fish Hawk for the thermal.
  21. Thanks for joining Dan, these guys are great for fishing info and willing to share most secrets. Good luck.
  22. Dumb question: why are you waiting till 2012?, seize the moment now, you don't know what will transpire in the next year with your group, planning too far ahead isn't always a wise move...imho.
  23. Orange for steelies, green for kings, yellow for lakers, blue for coho is my pattern, depending on depth and fish targeted. Glows for all species too. Anyone remember those mini divers, they used to work, I haven't got any now, any opinions of recent on those? Thanks.
