  1. I would say it would have to be 300-325 copper. been our hot setup this year. We run 32 lb copper. On this side of the big pond the fish have been deeper this year. We also run 250 copper and a 200 copper . The coppers have even out did our lead cores this year. My 2 biggest fish this year came on 325 coppers . Combined it took over an hour to bring in these two fish. Copper also acts differently then lead core , so it can turn off too. Just depends what the fish want and how deep you have to go.
  2. I don't know which is better the'" stupid wind bags" or Tims Picture.
  3. I have seen the same , and have seen some when under motor power and must be very stupid, as they still did the same thing.I could understand if it was in close quarters that they need to move there because of the wind, but not when 1/2 of lake Michigan is empty and no one else in site.Stop using us fishing boat for a pivot point. I wounder if we are not under power if the circumstances change. does that change things for us?
  4. I have seen a few videos where they stack 2 rods on one rigger. Has anyone here did this and how did it work out for you. How high did you keep the second line , and what kind of lengths did you use . Were they productive?
  5. Fished this morning and found a few fish out in 220-245. Picked up a lake trout that after 1/2 way to the boat got off then went belly up or at least was dazed for quite a while. while making a rushed turn to pick up the fish lost a board, has my name and address on it . So if you find a board please give me a shout. Found a very nice 3 year old that came in at 15lbs. looked really nice with the 12 lb rainbow. Fish are out there most came on 325 copper and some on riggers , deepest was at 110 down. Fish seem to be spread out again though. Started with a triple lost the one on the rigger due to skying out of the water. Finished the morning 5 for 11. Ran flasher and flies with no takers today. All fish came on spoons. Hot spoon was a spotted frog. Sorry no photos . waiting for them my self. Will post a couple when I get them.
  6. nothing better to run your boards off of. keeps everything out of the way.
  7. about how much are they going for?
  8. Boy I have to go with DarkBlue on this Keep the back open to net fish, Had many fish come unglued at the back after surfing in , only to wake up pissed off. Or bring in a 20lb king on 325 copper, not too easy to net on the side of the boat , Good luck.
  9. Dan here is the link to the ebay page . any questions feel free to message me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-Pair-Aluminum-Downrigger-Pedestals-4-x-4-x-6-/160659925350?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256813e966
  10. The pedestal were bought on ebay . I think they cost me 40.00 for the pair. they are 4x4 but he can make them what ever size you need. I will try to find his name and get you a link if you want it.
  11. Nice job Adam, I have broke many poles this year , some not so cheep . But still under warranty. Do you plan on going out Saturday morning?
  12. Here is two shots the second one is with the addition of rod trees. The Manual riggers have been changed out also but in the same place. So I can run 4 planer boards on each side , 2 divers , and 2 riggers. The most I have run at one time is 11 . If thats not enough you could always run free or fixed sliders too.
  13. I have the Blue Diamond rods paired up with 45 convectors, worked well just though they would have been stiffer to run wire. I would get the shimono rods if I had to do it again.
  14. Wow thats a deal, you will love having plainer trees . made such a difference on my boat , I am sure they will work out great for you too.
  15. Ronnie , I also belong to Great lakes Sport Fisherman of Milwaukee. does the Coast guard offer anything for our group? We are always looking for speakers , demonstrations , training.
  16. I would use lead , copper can have its days where it doesn't take a hit. I have had days where the lead was quite , but those were very few and when that happened the riggers took over. As long as you don't run into goofy currents you could run up to 4 riggers , 4 divers and as many boards as you can handle. I have a Tracker 17 targa and have it set up with 4 riggers , up to 4 divers and 8 boards. just depends what the fish want that day, as for what worked better it had to be the wire divers and riggers then the boards. Last year by far it was the boards that worked the best. the size diver I would use in your case would be the 107 for walkers. I have the 124 for my wire rods and I think its too much pull for the rods and i am down sizing them to the 107s. Color on the divers , I used clear, although I used blue / chrome also . it really didn't seem to make a difference. For the size on the braid I use 80lb power pro, but 30-50 should get you there with out a problem.
  17. if I have to hold off for a few hours I will. I want to try out the new downriggers. Or hit the river.
  18. Sounds like you did well Adam, Hoping it settles down for sunday. You working the weekend?
  19. That helps with the bead and crimp, what about getting the bead through the antenna for a depth raider?
  20. Ok just bought 2 big jon electrics and I am wondering how you guys get the bead from the auto stop to pass through the antenna for the Depth Raider. As of right now I am using my manual for the probe but would like to set up to use the electric , I don't want to crimp the cable either don't want to weaken the cable as I have already donated a probe to the deep. I have heard that the scotty auto stop bead should work and that is not crimped on .
  21. Let me know how the vinyl goes, I have it in the main part of my boat and it gets slippery only when you bring in a fish and it gets out on the floor.
  22. no not at all just picked up 2 electric riggers. Was up north this last weekend , and haven't had a crew to go out when it's been calm enough. Boat is drying out from the weekend, everything was wet. Hoping to get all the rods and the riggers back on the boat, would like to get some more silver fish yet this year. What kind of prob are you running on your boat Adam?
  23. Wow I heard about the water spouts , and My daughters boyfriend saw them too. we were up north for the weekend, Glad to hear that the cold water is back and the fish too.
  24. Have tried twice to have an examiner look at the boat , enter my info and they never get back to me. As far as fishing I would be happy to take you out . I think your license is free but you would have to check with the WDNR to make sure. I dont' have the biggest boat but it is comfortable for 3 to 4 . Just Let me know. Jim
