  1. Surface temp was 73. Radio chatter had the temp break at 80 down. The warm water had the Kings fighting more like Lakers.
  2. Wow..fished it last year and thought we payed $85 for a entry fee?
  3. Off the riggers, I will run one off the deep rigger. I don't run them very often off cores and copper. Most of the time it's off the divers.
  4. Had lines set by 7 PM in 110 FOW. Made the turn to hit my way points. Took a double in 95 FOW. Wire diver on 1, 80 back, w/ Mt. Dew SD & Pickled Sunshine fly took a King. The other King was on 200' copper w/ a Mag. Mixed Veg. Changed everything over to glow before the sun set. Right after the sunset, we took a small King off the free slider w/ a Ice Frog. DR was down 55 in 80 FOW. Trolled till 10:30 without a bump. Moonlight fishing sucks!
  5. Fished last night from 7 till 9:30, ending up 5/6 (all Kings). Worked 70- 105 FOW with 70-95 being the best. Surface temps ranged from 62-64. Braided Dipsey set on 1, 75 back, grn Bubble SD w/ Pickled sunshine fly = got off DR 75 down with a Mixed Veg. DW spoon = 6# 9 color w/ Lyman Plug #177= 15.5# Wire Dipsey set on 2.5, 100 back w/ NBK stinger spoon = 12# Braided Dipsey set on 2, 75 back with Mag. MS Flounder Pounder = 7# DR 40 down w/ Nitro Grn Fireball = 14.5#
  6. I run the same spread in the fall as I do in the spring. The program is the only difference. Riggers 25-40 back, slide diver or dipsy's on 3, 2 & 3 colors and flat lines. If I'm outside of 35 FOW, I run my normal set-up.
  7. After getting blown off the lake Thursday night, I pretty much cancelled the rest of my trips. Looks like I missed out on some fishable conditions. My last five trips consisted of nothing less than four footers. I needed a break.
  8. It acts like a shock absorber when the real is not in use. I'm able to keep good tension on the line when it's in storage. I don't like to fasten the swivel to any part of the reel or rod. I believe it can cause a bend in the line or allow for a kink to occur. The beads are to keep the swivel from going threw the roller guide. When there is no tension on the line, that is when you will get the curling at the end. The curling is what can lead to a weakness in the line. This is just another one of my unproven theories.
  9. The current generally moves in the opposite direction of wind. It's not exact, but gives you a starting point. Watch your riggers, as they are a pretty good indicator.
  10. I do the same. All my flies get replaced with Owners, if the don't come with them.
  11. First I use reports. In the morning I will set up shallow and work my way out. I also set up short of my way points. That way I have all of my rods set when I hit them.
  12. What about the Waivers? Is it still needed? How would someone that hasn't fished the previous Dbl event get a waivers signed before fishing?
  13. I use a 2 inch piece of medical tubing and two beads to either side on mine. I don't know if it helps or not. I haven't had any twist or kinks in the line and haven't retied.
  14. Thats what I use. I haven't had it fail yet.
  15. Thanks for the reports. I was out there Thursday and Sunday. Wouldn't have wanted to be out there on Saturday.
  16. Did a solo trip tonight from 7:15 till 10:00. Ended up 2 for 5. First fish came off the DR, on a Mag. Mixed Veg., 55 down, 108 FOW = 5lb Laker. Lost a Big King on the braided dipsy in 85 FOW, set on 2, 100 back, with a NBK. Same thing happened again in 75 FOW. This time one of the hooks straighted out. Had a fish hit the DR in 75 FOW, 50 down with a Mag. MS Happy Meal. No one home. Same set up fired again as I was pulling the 5 color. Left it in the holder and eventually brought it in = 10lb King.
