Holland 7-25-26 Morning

I usually have a lot of detail in my reports but with the upwelling/lake flip, it is a ghost town out there right now. 

Managed to catch a couple Lakers after washing lures for 3 hours. We tried 100-180fow. We were trying to find some warmer water. Nothing. I mean nothing. We sent a couple trout rigs down to the bottom and bounced bottom. Good practice but not my favorite type of fishing.

We were going to try in tight but what I heard and and confirmed later is that 50fow +/- was ok from 4am to 6am with a few caught after 6am. Fairly small fish with a decent one mixed in. 2-4 fish seemed to be the average catch and done around 9am

We did see a few boats out in the 220+ depth. I don't know what they did? I hope the water can straighten itself out this week. I see north winds and waves early in the week. Not great!

Fish seemed to have scattered with the flip.  Hopefully we will find them later in the week when the lake lays down.  Thanks for the report.

I just go around to posting our Friday evening report.  Same thing as your morning troll.  Lake was empty.

Sometimes with the flip, bait will end up scattered in 200+ fow.  And the fish seem to scatter and follow.  Other times they load up in shallow.  Tough to say which will happen.  Was hoping for warm water to set in but as you said, forecast doesn't look great.

I’d love another flip.  Steel on the beach until dark then walleye at the piers.

I hate it when fish won't bite as you described.

Things I  would try.
Move you boat to fish in front of the Holland channel. Fish in the 80-120fow. Make short 'S' trolls at 2.2 to 2.6sog 45° toward the harbor back and forth north and south.
Set your downriggers to 48-50  and 55-65ft down with long leads 50-70ft.
Set your divers on 3 and out 125-150'. Use 200-300 cu with boards to get everything away from the boat. Replace some of your spoons with a 8-10" flasher glow white/chrome/blue with blue/white or green white/fly. Meat rigs if your got them.
Change your speed at ball for a few minutes (3) to 3.4sog and run normal to 2.4-2.6 sog then drop to 1.5-1.8 sog for a minute then back to normal.

If all fails go to the store and buy fish to make kept promises!
