Mega Byte Posted June 2 Posted June 2 It took us a while to find them.we were in deeper water, 200 - 351 FOW. Most of our time was near the intersection of the Badger's route to Wisconsin and the shipping lane. So we dodged the big ships a few times. We kept 10 and threw 7 small ones back. Of the 10, most were in the 4 - 6 pound range. In past years, we wouldn't keep these either, but we wanted to bring something home. The big fish was a 13# king. We kept 6 kings and 4 steelhead. 250 weighted steel with an RV flounder went multiple times for us. But we got fish from the 3 color all the way to the 300 weighted steel. Dipsies and riggers took fish down 50 - 65 feet. I forgot ice, but luckily the surface water was cold, so we just refilled the fish box with cold water every 90 minutes to keep them chilled. jdh Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Sounds like a great day on the water! Thanks for the report. Was going to try and copy what you did out of Pentwater this morning, but saw some bait and fish in 90 fow. So I started there and trolled out to 180 and back into 60. Was fishing solo and had a large number of fish following the spoons on the downriggers but had a tough time getting them to commit. Ended up 3-4 fishing from 6:30 to 9 am. 2 kings about 5 lbs, and an 8 lb steelhead. Maybe should have ran deep, but I'm happy with that result. Not happy about being unable to get any alewives on the sabiki rig or in the cast net given the clouds of bait from out front almost all the way back to the launch. Caught a 5 lb bowfin in the channel.
