  1. In regards to hearing only one side of a radio communication, that is quite common. One boat may be within your 10-12 mile range and the other beyond that. It does sound like you have an antenna issue. It's easier to pick up a signal than to transmit one. I prefer the solder type antenna connection.
  2. Good job. I'm glad the weather cooperated for a change, and you boated some fish.:Yellowtail:
  3. There is a colored spoon chart with names right on this site. When you are typing a message look to your right, and notice a SMILE CHART. Click More on the smile chart and then expand it, and scroll down.:Kevorkian: I hope this helps you.
  4. Do you eat the eggs Cazz? Taste like fish, and you will never find a bone in them.
  5. I do know one thing about these Spiny Water Fleas, The Lake Perch Love them. The last two Autumns the Perch we caught were gorged on them. The are a bugger when they collect on trolling lines.
  6. YW Mike. Photos of kids are always special.
  7. Ditto on the 30# Spider wire braid. It's small diameter and low stretch characteristics make it a good choice for pulling Dipsys. Everything has it's pros and cons. Four of the advantages over wire is cost, less kinky:lol:, not likely to cut another line if they happen to cross, and easier to handle and tie. I have been using Spider Wire Braid on my Dipsys for 7 or 8 years. Never a problem tripping the Dipsy. I only run the braid on my low divers. I use Slide Divers for my high divers and use mono on them.
  8. WTG I'll have to wait until late July and August to start targeting them Kings. I need to fill up on Walleye first.
  9. C U all @ 8, and don't B L8.
  10. A warm welcome to you Brian. You will like it here.
  11. A good blow can change things for sure. I'm glad you caught fish both days. It would have been nice if there were lots of Kings in the area. Sometimes that rough water just turns those Kings on.
  12. 3-5 footers take the fun out of it anyway. Mike,It just don't get any better than that. You are creating memories that will last a lifetime. Those boys will be setting lines before you know it. They grow up way too fast. Enjoy every minute you can with them. Just love them kids. I have a 4 yo grandson that pretends his bed is a boat complete with downriggers.

VN Mike. You can never have too many rod holders.
  14. WTG!!! Nothing like those Spring Kings and Steelhead.
  15. It's a well known fact. Some of the better knots approach 100% of the line strength, but not quite. The knot slightly weakens the line.
  16. I never minded the smell of turkey, especially one roasting for a holiday meal.
  17. I'm sure most charter captains use their equipment enough to replace line even more than once a year. The retie is a must, and yes sun does take it's toll. The retie also can tell a lot about line condition. The knot is the weakest part of the line. If you have trouble getting a good knot, throw it out.
  18. I think I'll sit this weekend out. The wind will be out of the NE, and that is very bad here. I like to fish the week days better, but I'll do weekends if the weather is bad during the week.
  19. I haven't tried the 2 color core on Walleye yet. We were getting into 10 FOW or less sometimes, and I didn't want to risk hitting bottom. The Zebras can hang on the hooks and screw up the fishing, without you even knowing it. I'll experiment with the core, when we are in 15 FOW or more consistently. I cooked my last package of 06 Walleyes tonight. Mike, You must have smelled them cooking. I just slow cooked em in butter along with some Vidallia SP?? Onions. We have fish here most every week. If any of you get over this way, I'll make sure you don't leave hungry. Jeanice put a serving of leftover Walleye in the refrigerator. We always have plenty. Y'all come back now. Tony, We are going to have to wet a line soon. I hope the NE wind don't mess you up too bad for the tournament.
  20. WTG. I'm glad your brother connected.
  21. Bob, That boat doesn't come with a trailer. I never saw the boat but was talking to the marina owner about some paint #s for my Starcraft, and he mentioned this boat. He said he had a line on a used trailer for around $400. I'm sure this boat could be had for less. I had thought that you were only looking for outboard boats. There are a lot of boats for sale, and I hope you can find yourself a good one.
  22. Do you have a bid in on that one? It looks like a cream puff.VN Here's another in my neighborhood. http://www.ptaugres-sports.com/html/preownedboats_22.html
  23. I never heard of a blown spark plug. I guess that's why I keep that extra set in the glove box. You sure did have your chance Bob. That Islander looks real good. Is that a homemade hardtop on it? I never needed a tow in ever, but I have towed a quite a few boats in.
  24. Yes it is getting costly. I fish 3 to 5 times a week, when the weather is right. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to do that. Most of the time I'm withing 15 miles of home. My 140 Mercruiser is slow but my boat averages about gallon and hour, if I don't have to make any long runs. But it all adds up. B.O.A.T. = Break Out Another Thousand. But if Ya Love It, Ya Love It.
