  1. I agree with Frank and say that Adam gave a good round up of baits. When fishing deeper I like Reefrunners a lot. One of my all time favorites is a jointed Rapala minnow (J9 - J 13) all season long. When fishing with rod in hand, I run the lures off a 3-way, and swing the rod forward for a darting or fleeing action of the bait. This time of year with such clear water and fish being shallow, I run the baits out away from the boat using in-line boards. Use an S trolling pattern to change action of the baits and cover varying depths till you find the fish. HIH
  2. Hey Jim; Is that an International Scout in the background?
  3. Samples have been sent for DNA analysis. We should know in a month so keep a look out.
  4. The only lingering issues I have heard of are transducers made in Mexico. Hope yours is a good one!
  5. 3 year old trailer.....don't know if the builder would be responsible any more. It's a good idea to inspect and top torque all hardware on a yearly basis.
  6. You can also put a piece of sponge inside the head, soaked in your favourite attractant.
  7. For any kind of fasteners find a Fastenal store in your area. http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex?N=999600191&Nty=0 As far as holes in the aluminum, there is liquid aluminum in a tube, which when set you can grind to a smooth matching finish. Now as to the transom board, I would not put it all the way down to the hull. Any water in contact with the board will migrate up and rot it out. Good luck.
  8. If I have to view it live and am not able to capture the video, then in all likelihood will not be of interest to me.
  9. That's a pretty good feature for sure! I don't have high speed service as of yet, so for now won't matter. In the future, would download and watch at my leisure. I would say one hour length would work ok for me.
  10. Easy solution. Do the same as the commercial suppliers. Locate the processing plant on a big lake. Label as lake carp. What? Fish do migrate! That's how they got here in the first place! :D
  11. Everyone has their personal best choice. As far as mine, I'm not sure what my next choice will be. I've had two fords, 84 Bronco 2 and 87 F150. Very disappointed in the first and moderately satisfied with the second. Although the new models look very good and the dealer is convenient. Was also satisfied with a 65 International Scout. Too bad they are not made anymore. Probably nothing wrong with a Dodge either, but I just never felt comfortable in one. Overall GM vehicles have been the best for me. Will that be my next one. Don't know for sure as the dealer is not convenient for me but the Silverado does look impressive. Let you guys know when I pull the trigger on the next deal. Other than fluid levels, I don't touch much under the hood or chassis. Between disposal fees, parts prices and special pricing from drive through lube shops, I don't bother anymore. Tire maintenance and rotation I still do myself. When it comes to recalls, they all have their fair share. Just, IMO.
  12. On the flip side, better now than June or July! As far as brand, they all make good and bad units. I bought a 98 4runner in 03. Bought it used. Was one of the better deals around at that time. Soon will have 250,000 km on it. To be honest, all my vehicles have had issues. The current one isn't the best nor the worst, but my dealer is outstanding!!!
  13. I learned navigation and orientation early. I too can still navigate by compass and map. For me a fishfinder is key. It helps to eliminate empty water. For the big water, I have a handheld gps that I use to stay on the fish. This one I bought. Stores waypoints and all the info I need to come back to the same spot. Today, tomorrow or next season. For smaller bodies of water like Lake St. Clair and the big rivers here I like the larger gps with charts. This one came with my boat. I don't care for the combo units, unless I buy two, running one in fish and the other in gps mode. Redundancy can save you money in the long run. So, if you have a fishfinder, then add the fish hawk and a cheap handheld. good luck
  14. You could also use a hairdryer to heat the spoon. I real careful where and what brand of tape I buy. You can also spray an overcoat of automotive lacquer clear to seal the spoons. HIH Just came across this site posted by another member and found waterproof tape. http://stores.ebay.com/BAKERS-DOZEN_Water-Proof-Lure-Tape_W0QQ_fsubZ14076228QQ_sidZ22995713QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322
  15. Keep a paint pot of lacquer thinner or acetone handy. Attach airbrush and spray until clear. M-E-K [methyl-ethyl-keytone] is very aggressive and will soften and remove dry paint. IMO, I would stay away from it. Whatever you use, be sure to wear impermeable gloves or you could develop a chemical sensitivity or worse other serious health issues. Take care.
  16. Well, if you're stuck with that then take a large slot screw driver or pry bar and try and spread the wires apart a little bit. When you do this, the wheel won't be so stiff. Keep the rpm high so the motor stays cool. Higher rpm should strip more paint also. HIH
  17. If you don't want chemicals,I would suggest an orbital air sander with wet sandpaper. As you sand, apply a small stream of water to lubricate the paper and rinse clean. Knocks down all the dust too.
  18. I feel better just reading the thread. You guys are a riot!:D:D
  19. Ken, I read a few of the comments. Couldn't take much more than 3 pages or so. lol This not a Canada issue. If we don't put them up, the US will!
  20. Central basin, walleye, perch, bass and steelies. Lakers at the east end of the lake. No nooks or hos have been stocked for years. Therefore only strays from other lakes.
  21. What no linecounter?? Looks great!
