  1. Tung oil will outlast linseed by a long shot. Don't be afraid to give it more than one coat. To clean I would use mineral spirits. Teak is naturally a dark wood and I would not tamper with it. If you want lighter wood accents, you could replace with mahogany.
  2. 200 miles one way, no money and no relative to mooch a couch from! 2010 will be different however, if I get called back to work!!!!!!!!!
  3. Jim; ...I'm still using my 80s electric big jons, down to 2 long arms for some time now. ...If yours lower too fast, you could attach the handle and lower manually. ...I haven't had to update mine so far. ...Fishing on Erie, most days my riggers see no action at all. ...With family now located close to lake O, and an excuse to travel, a need for heavier gear may be on the horizon. ...Certainly have been eyeballing those brutes!:)
  4. let us know how you make out when you tell the wife to take her mount out of the house!!!!!:grin:
  5. Joel; ....Check out the link below for one stop shopping and advice. http://www.michiganmotorz.com/
  6. ....I thought about a laptop as well. Even one of those small netbooks for less than $400. ....I came to the same conclusion! At work, we had industrial workbooks and they were not always reliable. The company had resources to keep multiple units in service. And these babies were not cheap!!!!!!!
  7. ....This a very useful application to have. ....I've seen this somewhere before and will add it when I can, as the other version did not require excel, if memory serves me correctly. ....This helps especially when you only have one reel of a certain make and size!
  8. ....Like it here enough to upgrade to supporting member status! ....Here's map that may be useful, however you'd have to buy a gps to match. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=254&pID=2088#coverageTab
  9. BROTHER !!! I didn't own a computer until 03. Small world!
  10. Frank; ....Just because they are discontinued, doesn't mean they aren't worth buying. ....If you go with the Garmin, check the link below for this product. ....This may give you all the maps you will need. ....You would need to buy the map software and a programmable data card. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=254&pID=1114#overviewTab
  11. Frank; ....The two units you have chosen are both listed as discontinued by Garmin. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=168 ....I'm still shopping, but still leaning towards the bird! So many choices and so little cash! ....I'll keep the old Garmin as a backup unit. It came with the boat and has adequate mapping. Which by the way, is useless in the newer machines!!!! \\%&$#@%&$//
  12. slow troll......fast troll.... less action......more action...............so much confusion!!! I just want a fish at the end of my line!...........
  13. Technology changes so quickly these days and that makes purchase decisions so difficult. Almost made a purchase last spring but just didn't pull the trigger on the deal. Every unit at fishing shows runs flawlessly on demo mode! If a deal presents itself, I'll have a new unit by the end of next month. Unfortunately I'll have to wait for soft water to do a full report. 14. Frank, I could use some help with my decision as well. Currently running an older Garmin (GPSmap 178C Sounder). Thinking about possibly adding a Hummingbird with side-scan as full screen sonar. Also TY for any feedback!

  19. Now that's funny!!.... Must be one tough old lady!.... ....
  20. Some of the best material I found at military and or surplus outlets. Parachutes are made of the perfect material. Light material that will dry quickly and and won't rip or tear easily. Easy to cut and glue or sew into any shape. HIH
  21. It really was tough for me until I reread the title of the contest. Best photo and not best deer, not best hunter or best hunting partners. As far as I'm concerned, it wouldn't hurt your chances if you smiled and showed some pride in your accomplishment!!
