  1. Welcome, Boltman. How are these rods set up? Ie; do they have Mono or do they have Braid on them? The answer is yes any rod can be used as a rigger rod. Diver rods are best set up with Braid or some sorta of supper line. Rigger rods usually have 15-25 pound Mono on them.
  2. We are not to bad of fisherman. Not one time last year did we limit out on salmon. (there are usually 4 of us on board) We did come close a few times. The reality is, most do not get there limit now. This will help the charter captions and the few that have only one or two on board.
  3. From this morning, 12/11/08
  4. Nice to see you back Rich. You may want to reconsider the start time for the last date. It doesn't get light till 7:00 am then.
  5. Jim, that's really quite an offer for some one that loves to fish, but doesn't have a boat. Kootos to you.

    Crispy Batter

Do you add enough Beer to make it into a batter? If so how thick is the batter?
  7. Every year the Geese load up in our lake as the others freeze. One would think if you have to fly south any ways, why not head out before your feet freeze off:confused: These are just a small amount of them (they like to swim away when I head down with the camera).
  8. Mike I like the fact that you can now look at the posters Gallery. Thanks.
  9. I've had a cell now for 18+ years. The worst coverage I've had was with Notell. Verizon was the best. It works every where I go.
  10. The only spoon in my box that is copper is the old Bite-Me-Elmo. I don't think it's been on in 5 years.
  11. Very nice Tom! What a Birthday present.
  12. Nice story, nice pics. Sounds like a great week!
  13. All I was doing was 1/4 casting the Hopkins out and: Reel, let fall, rise/reel let fall, repeat.
  14. I was in Whitehall for work yesterday, so I went out to the Peer and mad a few cast. I got a nice big White Fish on my first cast, then no more. I was using a gold Hopkins spoon.
  15. It wont be long before we se this again.
  16. Since we went to Black, the false releases went down %95 and the hook up ratio went way up. The vary design of them makes it so you can load the rod heavy with out releasing the line.
  17. There's a five way tie for first place in the win/loss department going into the last race.
  18. Very nice of you Jay. It should make some Kid happy.
  19. Welcome aboard Mark. Things should start picking up now that the cold air is here. The H.J. Ghost has always been a good one. Here's a few others that produce well.
  20. This was all that was posted . I agree that three poles is too much to handle most of the time. It would be nice for open water fishing though.
  21. Welcome Gary. You went from one money pit to another ( boats/fishing to horses) I have two boats and my Daughter and wife have a horse.
  22. I copied this from another site. Department of Natural Resources Director Rebecca Humphries signed fisheries orders that extend the spearing season through the ice for pike and muskellunge in certain waters, extend the whitefish spearing season on the Great Lakes and connecting waters, allow all anglers to use three rods, and establish a two-gallon limit on smelt. The spearing season for pike and muskie will now run from Dec. 1-March 15, instead of just January and February and the whitefish spearing season will now be open year-round. The new seasons are the result of legislation enabling the DNR to set spearing regulations. These regulations take immediate effect. Anglers have been allowed to use three rods when fishing for salmon on the Great Lakes for a number of years, but were restricted to two rods elsewhere and when pursuing other species in the Great Lakes. A survey of anglers showed overwhelming public support for three rods. The new regulation, which takes effect April 1, 2009, allows anglers to use three rods on all waters and in pursuit of all species, though the DNR retains the authority to reduce the rule to two rods if necessary. The two-gallon limit on smelt, which historically have been unregulated, is designed to prevent waste during periods of high abundance and offer some protection to smelt as an important forage and sport species. The limit applies to both dip-net and hook-and-line anglers. This new regulation also takes effect April 1, 2009.
  23. We went out last night to look around and see if any fish had moved into the lake yet. Fished from 7-10:30 with out any luck. The lake is still a bit warm. We hit a bunch of our spots , but still ended with a blank. This cold air that's coming in should help. We may try again next week.
