Hosted by the Holland Steel Headers June 6, 2015 Carp, sheep head, cat fish, salmon, steelhead ,dog fish , what ever you want to fish for ! This is just a fun Saturday morning tourney the cost is $25 to join in the fun. All proceeds go towards the legal team representing the Sportsmen in the 2020 tribal negotiations for gill netting in the great lakes. They are hoping this will become a permanent treaty so we need to get it done rite! The winner will receive a trophy and bragging rights , winner takes all! 1:The rules are simple all fish must be caught using hook and line (no spearing or bow fishing allowed) 2: You may fish Lake Macatawa or Lake Michigan. 3: you may fish from boat, shore or pier. 4: you may use as many lines per DNR rules allow . 5: catch as many fish as DNR rules allow . Weigh in your five biggest fish, winner will be determined by total weight. 6: Fishing will start AT6:00 A.M. and end at noon 7: the weigh in will be at the DNR fish cleaning station in Holland and you must be in line with your five biggest fish only at 1:00 . 8: Remember this is a charity tourney and meant to be fun! All Donations and entry fees will be 100% matched when turned into the Michigan Steelheaders legal fund so the money we raise will be doubled! So please give generously and help protect our great lakes resources. Just as a side note this is the second year we have done this and it is for a great cause, heck, now one wants there fishing area filled with gill nets. And its a great time and last year it was nearly one with 5 HUGE SHEEP HEAD!.

This was another fun event, fishing was a little on the slow side but I think a great time was had by most. If you notice, the big fish "side bet", for the year is still Holding at 15.2 lbs by team Reel Happy. Ben ding rods won big fish for the week but had not donated a Spin Dr yet, so his very nice 17.1 lb king could not count for the end of the season prize. With that said, I would like every one that participated to thanks "Morgan Tackle" on Face book for there generous donation, every one got to take home a 200 ft roll of copper. And as a side not our next event will be in Holland on June 20, and the sponsors for this event will be "Lake Shore Tackle and Fire Arms" and "Big Weenie Brand".

I agree with Ryan, we took second with 10 Lake Trout for 102 lbs.. We found a line of very nice size trout the day before and decided 10 fish are 10 fish no matter what they are as long as there 10lbs. We did find a couple 10ish lbs kings also, but the Trout were slightly larger.

This is the official sign up thread for the May 23rd event in south haven , Morgan tackle will be the sponcor for this event.

Well, it's that time of year again . The Holland Steelheaders are hosting the "MISH Challenge" again , there are a few changes this year, mainly the addition of 2 seperate divisions. For any one that is interested you can go to http://www.hollandsteelheaders.org for the official rule and sign up.

WOW , if you love lake trout fishing ,its time. I left the dock Friday morning around 7:15 with my buddy Jeff and Don and headed a little south to look for a few browns on the beach with no luck, we fished from the water plant to the power plant. We ended that line with 9 shaker kings all released. Turned north west and hit 20 fow and it was lake trout city till we quit in 70 fow just south of the piers with 9 lakers and a 2 lb king in the box. The game plan for Saturdays W.M.F.L. event was to run north to Miami park and set in on the beach and troll north looking for browns. We trolled north till around 9:30 and ended about 2ish miles south of pier cove with 3 browns and 4 shakers kings in the box and 7 lake trout released, but not a laker over 10 lbs.. We made the gamble to run back south and fish hard for a laker to upgrade one of the smaller kings, meaning it had to be better than 10.7 lbs. because of the points system this yr. Well we ended up with 11 more lakers and none over 9.9 lbs., but what a great time ending the morning 25 for 27 and a third place finish.. So here is the pics of what worked and Fridays catch. Gold Water Melon Dolphin Chicken Wing Iced Tea Copper Vegies Grape Jelly Hot Chicken Wing These were all Silver Streak Minis The bottom 4 all took Lake Trout on the beach. Green Dolphin Silver Streak Super Screw Silver Streak Number 4 Cut Throat J Plug Yes that's a J-plug, we tried every thing to try and get a bigger fish and all we got were 8-9 lb lakers. And Fridays catch.

We had a great turn out for the first event of the yr with 13 boats. Thanks to all that should up and participated and congratulations to all the winners looking forward to the next event on may 23 this one will be sponsored by Morgans Tackle.
